I'm dashing out to our Corby forest project today, eating too hot porridge and typing is tricky. I'll pm you later :0)

Does anyone else have a name for the usually bright colored big Aida? I mean, it could just be 8 count aida or something but I thought it had a name?!

Sorry, I may be in a hurry but I was too curious and too much of a pedant not to look it up... This is the stuff I think. Got mine from an old chap who was closing his haberdashery market stall http://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Count-Binca-Stitch-Fabric/dp/B005DRYHZE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1327568617&sr=8-2

    Morning all :)

Have spend the last couple of weeks making a set of coasters for my office. I did one for each of the guys who work with me and some for the visitors. Can't post pics as they all have their names on lol.

They were really chuffed actually, there was a part of me that thought they would laugh at me for doing something so girly :o but the youngest guy (19) asked what else I stitch and when I told him I had an album on facebook he spent the next 20 minutes going through every picture and asking questions, he thought it was amazing that we stitchers can produce pictures like that. :j:rotfl:

Sooo what UFO to go back to.....Candlelight, sweeties or touched by magic...hmmm....:j

  • Ohhh *Louise* do touched by magic - I am dying to see that one finished!!!!

I've not done much stitching the past few days, DH has an exam tomorrow so I've been helping him study, soooooo draining, but makes him feel better (????). N.B. Couples should not study together!!!!

Oh and I don't min the new layout except that I find all the white/grey background really bright - have to try and tune it out!

Which version are you viewing? In my options I have chosen the less bright version but I'm not sure it makes much difference to me as I have my monitor brightness at it's highest anyway :rotfl:

If you don't know how to change the version....go to UserCP, then on the left side choose edit options then scroll to bottom of the options page. At the bottom of the miscellaneous section there's a forum skin section with 5 or 6 options. Don't forget to hit save changes when your done.

The whole site is weird for me at the moment because up until yesterday I was still using the old look skin :o
I prefer the old look but read somewhere yesterday they are planning big changes to the site that might not be compatible with the old look so I decided that I really should give the new look a go :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I just had a look and am using the new brighter option. Decided its ok actually - probably just needed another light on last night!:o I agree with you Shelly that I should stick with it as it is best for the changes planned in the future.
I'm not even wure we should get an option - it's their website so it can look how they want! And if people won't post just cause they changed it slightly then surely that is the posters problem??!!

It's binca not binka - sounds the same but I guess Google doesn't recognise that. Willow Fabrics sell it. Great stuff for teaching children how to xs.

what do fellow stitchers think of the new margaret sherry kits ? They were live on her website (and I was about to post a link) but they have now vanished :( the release date is 1 Feb though so I guess they will be back soon. :j

I know this isn't cross stitch related but if you are a pay as you go mobile customer, would you mind letting me know what phone you have and what network you are on? I am currently with Virgin mobile and would like to change networks but don't know who to go with - orange/te$co top of the list but can't make up my mind and as my phone is locked to virgin, would have to buy a new phone.... if I do decide to move networks. I know I can probably sort out an unlock code but would prefer to keep the phone as it is as a spare/emergency phone.

I'm not fussed about having access to facebook or e-mail on my phone, I just want a decent camera, radio and the ability to text oh and make the occasional call. I have always gone for nokias in the past.
