  • Yeah let's talk Xmas here, its creeping up on us!

  • Good morning everyone. Back to work today and the rain has cleared and the sun is shining - it feels like this always happens.

However I am not complaining as I got lots of stitching done over the weekend as well as having a lovely day with visitors on Sunday.

I stitched a small congratulations card for GD who did really well in her GCSEs - that's the last of the results to worry about for a year and they all did really well (GD graduated with 2.1 and got the job she wanted, niece got 3A* at A level and is heading to Oxford in October). All 3 results this year were for girls in the family - next year we have another graduation (niece) and GCSE results (nephew)

This was a free kit and I added a sticker with congratulations. I am annoyed with myself because I stitched a lovely graduation card for her sister and forgot to take a photo because I was rushing to get it into the post before she went on holiday :(
So made sure I photographed this one.

I made a little scissors fob as a birthday gift for a stitching buddy - it's a Lizzie Kate chart I've used a few times which says Count Your Blessings

It's a free chart from the Lizzie Kate website and really quick and easy to do. I used overdyed thread for all of the wording which made it even faster to finish

And finally I made a start on the next Angel Stocking

Louise I think your idea of stitching your parents' special song is lovely. I'm sure it will bring lots of pleasure to your mum even if it also upsets her at times (but she is going to be upset this Christmas anyway)

ocemeer rolls of fabric - what brilliant presents

caroline great progress on the afghan - it is looking lovely

brednall when I need to cover the back of stitching I use iron on vilene which also stiffens the fabric as well. Just seen your 2nd post - for plastic canvas I would back with felt which can be blanket stitched around the edges or possible try fabric glue for a faster finish

flateric the keyring with a photo on one side and a stitched motif on the other is one I will "file away" - they would make great gifts

nmm - good progress on BD - looks like fur already. Hope the latest addition to the family doesn't distract you too much :D

maria what makes you think that we would be bored with updates :D

chicky I think that most stitchers/crafters think about Christmas well in advance of the general population - in my case I start Christmas stitching in December for the following year :rotfl:

  • Hello ladies,
Just nipping on to let you know Argos have a few stitchy bits on sale - afgans at half price, some bookmarks a wedding and a birth sampler.
The birth sampler is Shaun the sheep - and I stitched that one for DS. A very easy stitch - and no evil back stitch! :rotfl:
I finished it 2 years ago - but haven't framed it yet. I really should get on with framing what I have finnished!

On the finished front - I have finished sewing the Meerkat for MIL. Just need to mount it, then I will take piccies.

Haven't caught up on posts yet, so will be back when I have read them all.

    FOS lovely photos

i love christmas and must start getting organised for it

    off topic
just done 3 hours in work and got to go out this afty to pay club rent and post back the towels i accidentally took from the holiday property we stayed in. im sooo mortified i did that cant believe it im normally honest and careful. DD and her bf got in the holiday home before us so the kids were all rushing in choosing bedrooms etc while we were unloading. weather was actually lovely all week so Saturday morning we were just maniacally rushing round throwing stuff in bags and cases while i tided. i thought as there was a bathroom and shower room two towels made sense so i checked and found two loaded up and spent day on the beach. put puter on on friday to find an email asking if id accenedtally taken any towel as they were some short. looked on the shel in our bathroom and was mortified to find wed bought them all home.
worst of it was i was so convinced of my innocence i sent an email off saying im sure ive not taken your towels but will have a check. next email was a severe case of humble pie and grovelling after i found 8 in the bathroom!!!!. i would think it will cost more than the towels are worth to post them but they need them for next weeks let.
if anyone wants details of a lovely sleeps 7 smokehouse in sheringham i can recommend it but i wont have the brass neck to ever try booking it for us again

ohh dear mrs-moneypenny how embarrasing. could you not offer to pay for them to replace them instead?? I can imagine postage being extortionte (sp) on them (a courier like myhermes may be cheaper??)

OHHHHH I've just seen the DMC mini make a wish kits some of those would make great cards. will post a linky tonight.
