    Welcome to the newbies...
    hello to everyone else.
Updates are all looking fab as always!

LM - Not sure if this is what you mean re: wedding pillow, saw it the other day.

My3girls - I love the Dimensions beginners kits. Lots of choice. doing one myself but overcomplicating as tweaking and adding beads and metallics etc.

In other news, no stitching for me, been busy, now counting down days till OH back to uni, lol. Then i'll have lots of stichy time without distraction and hopefully fend off winter blues :)
Also off to pembrokeshire next weekend for a week in a luxury apartment paid for by OH's family. Will be our first proper holiday and his family will be staying in the next village. :) uber excited.

  • welcome to the new people, had a really busy few days so not picked up a neddle which makes me sad:( but what did make me happy was a ppi refund :) but i have been good and im using the money to pay of some other debts, paid of my overdraft today and closed the account (because i never use it) cant imagine how i could have ever paid of my overdraft otherwise!

on a stichy note i did ask the other day but think it got lost in my massive post, i said i would make some xstitch xmas card to sell at rainbows to raise some money, i have 10 girls in my group, so can sell to there parents, and also im going to put a box of cards in the church to sell as well, how many would you make i dont want to make to few and if i make to many i can always use them up

any suggestions apprechiated, and any ideas of other little things i can make and sell would also help

    thanks

    Afternoon all

I didn't manage any cross stitch last night. Ended up watching Accused from last week which was actually quite good.

anyway change of topic.... I wonder if you will be able to help ?? I was after some ideas for a wedding themed design for a work colleague who is getting married next year.

I was thinking of something along the lines of a Lizzie Kate design. (although I will say that a good marriage doesn't appeal).

But I have spotted this which actually really appeals .... but its a tatty ted design and good intentions and all that concern me. I.e. it seems a good idea now but come a few months in when too little time - too much backstitch springs to mind.....

Also - I won't have the money to have it professionally framed. The finished design would be 16cm x 16cm. Louise would I get away with just sticking it in a frame with a mount (i.e. without all the faff and bother of stretching and lacing the work? (if thats what you call it). As I think it would be too big for a card?

Also whilst on the subject, any ideas for new baby cards. again simple designs that stich up quick - two girls in my office have announced recently that they are expecting and whilst I'm undecided yet whether I will stitch something, it would be nice to get some ideas in case I do.

I've stitched a couple of TT birth samplers and a wedding sampler and found all the shades of grey and the back stitch quite tiresome but it was what was requested. The design you have picked out is lovely and there is less stitching of the teddy than usual (which IMHO is a good thing). Also you could use small red heart buttons instead of stitching the hearts which would be quicker and very effective - something like these might work. For smallish designs like this I use sticky back mount but instead of sticking the stitching to the sticky side I use the stitcky side on the back and fold over the fabric to be held in place = hope this makes sense
The baby shoes that Louise stitched (and got lost in the post:eek:) looked quite quick and easy - perhaps Louise knows which mag they appeared in and you may already have the chart?

FE - That's a lovely design, and tbh there isn't too much backstitch since a lot of the bear is obscured by the heart. I would probably swop the aida for evenweave though, just to make life easier.

I also think it will go into a mount/frame easily without needing laced. I have pictures larger than that that havent been laced and they are just fine :) You could always apply some iron on interfacing just to stiffen up the fabric a bit and make double sure it will be flat.

Thank you :j I do really like it but I don't think I will do it for my friend. I think I might add it to my "to do" projects for my OH. We will celebrate 16 years together next year.... :heart2:

instead after asking some random questions of my friend ! found out she likes tigger so I'm thinking of adapting a tigger design into a wedding sampler or stitching a wedding themed tigger card?
  • FlatEric - How about this Baby chart you have to register with them to get it, but they are free to download and join - its linked to cross stitch crazy.
Although it might be a bit bigger than you were looking for - 60x61 stitch count.

There's a lickle ted wedding sampler that might be worth a look. Maybe you could adapt that to a tigger? Not sure though.

POLL - got to post and run.....

Found a winnie the pooh design I like - thinking of just stitching tigger and piglet BUT the design has been stitched using the water colour effect. Not sure how keen I am and wonder whether to stick with traditional tigger and piglet colours? thoughts?
  • flat eric, i think i would go with the water colour option, just because i like the calming colours and the effect it gives lol

  • I agree with Maria, I think water colour would be more fitting. :)
