  • Hello,
Thank you for your kind wishes.
Well the scan went ok, and she seemed to think they're was nothing to worry about in my heart - so no reason for the tripple figures there.
Just have to wait and see what the cardiologist decides now.

Haven't managed any more stitching yet. The initial is looking decidedly lonely, so I shall have to get on with it!
That said I have still to complete the many jobs I need to do - namely 7 more sock monkeys  by september, and I realise this is fast approaching!

Plus we have a little get away coming up in the next few weeks, just a few nights away, but I am definately in need of a break! I guess it comes to something when even your GP tells you to go and have fun! ;) But then he knows how bad everything has been over the last couple of years.

Loving all the updates! Keep them coming :) it definately brightens my day to see other peoples hard work coming together!

    Right off to get organised.

thought i would post this here as I'm sure you won't mind and actually, I'm not sure what forum this is appropriate for ?!

Got home from work this evening to find "sorry we missed you card" from parcel delivery company. Puzzled as I haven't ordered anything..... Card indicates parcel behind gate.... even more puzzled as gate is locked....

Anyhow turns out its a parcel from a catalogue company for the person who used to live at my house and hasn't done so for several years.... i.e five years plus......

I'm guessing she has used an old account and not realised she hasn't changed the delivery address.

So now I'm stuck with a parcel that I don't want and doesn't belong to me. The lady didn't move locally as her husband had a new job so I have no idea on how to contact her and certainly don't want to be paying to ship the parcel to her new address or even pay anything to return it to the catalogue company. Whats the best course of action here ??? It is possible that when she realises she might get someone she knows locally to knock on my door but I won't know them from adam.... and I don't want her to say oh I didn't receive the parcel when she does and the catalogue company then come after me ! grrr !

in cross stitch news ..... excited about bank hol weekend. what shall I stitch ???

FE. I'd find a freephone number for the company on here http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php and just explain you have received a parcel for someone that no longer lives there. Tell them you require a freepost label or freepost address to post the item back or for a courier to collect at a time convenient to you.

Glad everything went well with the scan AM.

No stitching for me today - I had 2 birthday cakes & 24 cupcakes to make so that's kept me pretty busy!

I can't believe how long I was gone off here for - you are all so inspiring! Can't remember who has done what (other than Froddington and the snowmen which are gorgeous). The ballerina is beautiful and I lvoe the little blue elephant; the rest is great too!!!

I think now I've caught up and got stitching into my head I might go and pick up the needle and thread while DH finishes his ironing :)

  • Evening ladies and welcome to our new members. :hello:

    ejs -lovely pics :T

Ailsb - yes I'm pleased with SB so far. As soon as I start to feel a bit tired, I put it away so as not to sicken myself with it. It is growing quite quickly though with the 11ct aida.

FOS - love stocking. Lovely idea for the second one.

Louise - looking forward to seeing piccy of medieval lady. As for the white on SB - the aida is actually quite creamy (just my rubbishy photos) but there is a lot of white/not quite white and is it white or does it have a tinge of blue sort of colour. I think it will just add to the shading effect when she gets done. I seem to fly along with it and then all of a sudden I feel tired and as soon as that happens I put her to bed until the next day. Might complete page 2 (8 pages in total) and then have a break and do a couple of chrissy cards. :D

subtle - enjoy your holiday :D

firefly - love the pics :T

maria - great news re ppi. Good luck with cards.

benny - passion is gorgeous. You have one lucky friend. :D

froddington - your elephant is so cute.

AM - pleased to hear all went well with your scan.

FE - I agree with others - contact the company and get the to arrange for you to return it free.

Sorry for rambling on - I'm done in now and ready for bed but I can't seem to get myself motivated to get of the sofa and up the stairs. I really must not fall asleep downstairs - I hate it when that happens.

  • Morning everyone. Hope everyone has nice plans for the BH weekend (except for Scotland -sorry Louise) which include some quality stitching time.

ladymarmalade welcome to the cafe. It's a long time since I stitched a ring pillow and it was chosen to fit with the bride's wedding theme. What sort of design do you like (or not like?) Have you got any preferences about colour or are you sticking to white/cream/ivory?

firefly Your Dimensions snowmen already look fabulous and the bank stitch will really bring them to life. Are you planning to finish and frame for this Christmas? The Together piece is really cute

Maria I agree with the comments of others to make as many cards as you have time to do as you can always use any left over. A few birthday cards might be nice as well. It also helps if you pack the cards in cellophane bags - not only do the cards look more professional but they are protected when people are looking through the display. A friend of mine who makes lots of cards for sale swears by the difference these make (she also reuses cellophane wrappers from bought cards where she can).
Key rings, coasters, pincushions and bookmarks are also good sellers I believe but involve more time and cost than cards.
    Good luck with the sale

FE I'm sure that following your friend's preferences is the way to go even if Tigger isn't the most obvious choice for a wedding sampler. I love the watercolour effect and think it would be really appropriate for a wedding sampler

AM A meerkat wouldn't be my choice either but it sounds as though it will be well received which is what counts. Good news about the scan - hope the cardiologist can help with a diagnosis so that you can get some effective treatment.
The sock monkey idea for a party is lovely and I'm sure your hard work in preparation will be worthwhile

Shelly Sorry the link didn't work Here is the front of my Stitcher's cushion

There are more photos in my Flickr account for anyone interested in non cross stitch stitching. It opens up and has pockets for scissors, pen, threads etc

Benny Lovely to see you here again. The Passion of the Dance is stunning - your friend will be so delighted.

The Emily Peacock Welcome chart is fabulous - looking forward to seeing progress pics

froddington Love your 2 new finishes

FE agree you should contact the catalogue company and when you post the parcel back make sure you get a certificate of posting from the Post Office so you can't be held liable for the goods delivered to your address

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your cushion!!! I looked at all the pics, it's beautiful and so detailed:T

Totally agree with the comment about putting cards in bags - they make such a difference to the presentation and stops them getting grubby :)
