Can join your cafe please? I have been looking at some of the amazing work you crafters are doing. I have recently started finshing off my half finished projects.
Welcome, the cafe used to be called the UFO club (Un-finished object) so we are the best place to help you get those UFO's finished, look forward to your photos.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0 -

The cross stitch is a Dimensions one: 8690 Joyful Snowmen. It has Joy in big red letters and four snnowmen and a Xmas tree.....think I only have to make a couple more posts before I can start posting pictures:p
Is it this one? If so it is fabulous and you must keep going. You will soon be able to post pics of your progress which is very motivating0 -
Hello Ladies,
Thank you for the kind messages.
Hello to the newbies :T always nice to see new members!
FOS - He collects Mr Potato Heads, he must have about 30 of them, so I always make him a card with Mr Potato Head on. I did one in funky foam (with removable parts so he could rebuild it) and one in shrink plastic. But saw the chart and thought I would go cross stitch this year. I have never really noticed the resemblence till he took a photo of himself holding the card and his mate said "what a great likeness!" :rotfl:It really does look like him in the photo!
Yeah he does have a good sense of humour too, which helps.
Not doing much stitching today, had a bit of an emotional set backso just chilling a bit, though I have a lot of things to get sorted. DD decided she wanted a make your own sock monkey party, so I have 8 sock monkey skins to sew ready for the kids to stuff. I have one done... all to be done by september .
So there will be not a lot of cross stitch in the August house till they are sorted! Which is a shame, as I had bought disolvable aida to stitch the Darth Vaider "come to the dark side we have cookies!" chart on to DS t-shirt.
I hope everyone else is managing a stitchy day!

Afternoon all
I didn't manage any cross stitch last night. Ended up watching Accused from last week which was actually quite good.
anyway change of topic.... I wonder if you will be able to help ?? I was after some ideas for a wedding themed design for a work colleague who is getting married next year.
I was thinking of something along the lines of a Lizzie Kate design. (although I will say that a good marriage doesn't appeal).
But I have spotted this which actually really appeals .... but its a tatty ted design and good intentions and all that concern me. I.e. it seems a good idea now but come a few months in when too little time - too much backstitch springs to mind.....
Also - I won't have the money to have it professionally framed. The finished design would be 16cm x 16cm. Louise would I get away with just sticking it in a frame with a mount (i.e. without all the faff and bother of stretching and lacing the work? (if thats what you call it). As I think it would be too big for a card?
Also whilst on the subject, any ideas for new baby cards. again simple designs that stich up quick - two girls in my office have announced recently that they are expecting and whilst I'm undecided yet whether I will stitch something, it would be nice to get some ideas in case I do.0 -
Hi folks, haven't posted much - been flitting about other areas of the site (honestly, it's like listening in on gossip):rotfl:I have been working away on my medieval lady - just got the bottom section of her dress and a fair bit of grass/flowers and that will be her finished.
Spent Sunday with some of hubby's family who are relocating to San Fransisco for a couple of years. They showed us a video of the new workplace and we couldn't believe it could be classed as work lol - It's all open plan desks, sofas, catered lunch and dinner (what a spread!) fridge full of cold drinks/beers (!) and a wall full of drawers of snacks. They can take pets to work and everything. Apparently it's to encourage creativity....can't see that working over here, everyone would take advantage
Kids go back to school tomorrow :jWill be spending tonight making sure everything is labelled and organised. We also have a builder arriving at 5pm to give us a quote for a possible loft conversion - we shall see how that goes.
Looks like everyone has been busy, lots of great work going on.:T Just going to look back and comment......back soon!Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. firefly - welcome on board
Cross stitching can be a good distraction - it's also great for helping you to relax which is always a bonus :T
My3girls - Another welcome to you as wellI see you have already had great advice from Ailsb and FOS, I would agree with letting your DD choose a design she likes, it's more likely to be completed then
FOS - Congrats on the stocking, it looks gorgeous!. I think they will make a lovely pair, I will look forward to seeing them completed :T
FE - That's a lovely design, and tbh there isn't too much backstitch since a lot of the bear is obscured by the heart. I would probably swop the aida for evenweave though, just to make life easier.
I also think it will go into a mount/frame easily without needing laced. I have pictures larger than that that havent been laced and they are just fineYou could always apply some iron on interfacing just to stiffen up the fabric a bit and make double sure it will be flat.

Hi Everyone
Thank you for all your replies, such a friendly bunch
I've decided to start simple and work up! I think getting used to it again rather than jumping in at the deep end and potentially being overwhelmed (I tend to give up too easily) and not want to do it!!
I'll keep you postedWeight 21/08/12 - 11st 4lb  Target of 10st....

Hi all
I am an avid cross stitcher, although I haven't posted in here before. I am getting married next August, and really want to make my own ring bearing pillow/cushion. I want it to have ribbons attached so that the rings are secure.
Does anyone know of any good kits/designs. I have done a web search and haven't found much, and the ones I have found are not really my cup of tea!
Thanks in advance:cool:"More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them." - Harold J. Smith:cool:0
