Made an executive decision chicky and Sleeping Beauty won :j
DH said I should stitch too so then he doesn't feel too bad when he is sprawled out with his kindle (he usually falls asleep within two minutes of picking it up)
Just got in from gym and it is so so hot (not complaining honest) and don't think I feel like stitching now so I will just crash out on sofa and catch up with the soaps.
Take care everyone

Hopefully everyone's out enjoying to sun!
Been busy at work today so not much chance to lurk. I'd love to go to the craft event, hadn't heard of it, will have a google! I've no one to go with though, are you going Emma?
I finished Love you Dad on Tuesday :T As soon as it's washed and pressed I'll post it up, promise! Have been working on a XS card collection free gift from a while ago at lunch since then and have got Imagine ready for when that's done. At home I'm back on the blackwork cats :A

It is only about 30 minutes from where we leave so we are taking a detour there on our way to holidays in Kent. DH is taking son and daughter to the museum while I go to the show for an hour. If only to get my free gift, it covers the price of the ticket. Not sure how much stitchy stuff will be there - more cardmaking I think but we will see.

Hello,
I seem to have been AWOL for a very long time! However I have been keeping up to date with the thread and have to say LOADS of amazing work has been done. Also some awful things seem to have happened in the last few months so hugs to all that need them.
I lost my stitching bug for a bit but the HEAD sale post (think it was from Soulie) caught my interest and although I left it too late to buy the one I wanted (kept thinking "i'll do it tomorrow" and then suddenly the sale had finished!), I have stitched the Wizard back to his frame and started him again.... Plus a Margaret Sherry design - Cat In Bag' and one out of an old Cross Stitcher! ...Also dug out the John Clayton Sydney chart & the one my husband made me of our cat for our anniversary (it was year 2 - cotton!). So there's my list of WIP's!!!
I think that will do for now but thought it was about time I said hello again instead of just admiring everyone's stitching from afar!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend (and have the sun), its raining here so I've baked a banana loaf, just about to start some flapjack then its stitching and football for the afternoon!

Hello,

See you soon xx
Could you share your recipe for banana loaf ? I have some bananas that need using up. Thanks :j0 -
Afternoon everyone. I haven't done a lot of xs lately - too many stitching hobbies and not enough time
But I am hoping to complete the xs on my Angel Stocking tonight
brednall Fuschia card is lovely - I'm sure your mum was delighted.
I didn't go to the Donnington Park event but did go to The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham:j - have wanted to go for ages and loved it though it was very tiring and a bit frustrating as impossible to see everything in a single day. Akthough quilting dominates and there were some stunning examples on display there were also stands selling all kinds of stitching goodies (would have needed the Euromillions win to buy everything I liked:eek:) Future Publishing had a small stand and I signed up for 2 subs offers (3 issues for £1) - Cross Stitch Collection and Mollie Makes. Seemed to good to miss
blue eyed girl Love the birthday cards - very effective
Malfiore - welcome to the cafe. Quite an ambitious design for a relative beginner - INHO the most challenging aspect is that it is stitched on black aida which makes it much more difficult to see the holes. Putting a white cloth like a pillowcase on your knees or shining a lamp upwards can help. But being whole stitches is good and you will get lots of encouragement here if you keep posting your progress
FlatEric OFF TOPIC Have you considered looking for another job? You frequently mention how much you dislike your work and life is too short to spend so many precious hours doing something you hate. I know the job market is tough but it is much easier to find a job while you are employed. Now tell me to mind my own business.........
ejs - good ot hear wbout your WIPs - now we need to see some photos to give you maximum support
chicky I would try Louise's suggestion of bs in dark red and then if you still aren't happy go for the stitching in metallic thread.
Hope everyone enjoys what is left of the weekend0 -
Could you share your recipe for banana loaf ? I have some bananas that need using up. Thanks :j
This is the recipe I use when we have some bannas hanging around - tho I am trying an experiment just now and freezing them in prep for making this. It is from Nigella Lawsons book - I don't make it as a loaf as I don't have any loaf tins but I do make them in muffins.

So HI girls,
Sorry I have been missing in action but I have been lurking.
Gave in my wee stitch to the girl on Friday and she was overjoyed - I got a big hug and the amazement I don't even know her and I made it.
I have been working a bit more - did some overtime yesterday - helping out with some major stuff in the department.
I am also feeling rather down. Some of you might of seen on FB. I am worried about hubby. Since he came here (5½ years ago) he has only had one phone call from all of his family. His nephew speaks to him on occasion of FB and we call him but then he gets interrupted by people around him so the call is interrupted. You would think his parents call - if my kid moved away half way round the world they would call more. It always left to us to call them as we pay little extra on our phone bill to have 10 hours worth of international calls. It was his sisters birthday other day there and we put up happy birthday messages but she just liked them. But she commented on others saying "thank you sis love ya" to a friend. Think it is really hurting hubby and he is feeling so down as he still has no job.
Sorry for moan.
Anyway just thought you hadn't seen an update in my blue sampler. So keep well everyone and catch you all later.
