To anyone who gets Cross Stitch Crazy:

I need some help getting the rest of the little Quick Stitch fairies from past issues please

Have just been though my stash and I'm missing Jan/Feb/March/April and July

I plan to stitch all 12 together for DD :)

    Thanks!

    I have got July!:T
One of my fb friends spotted my MSE cafe post and sent it :D

I have started stitching, got 3 fairies done and a lot of the border in place.

Really appreciate if anyone else can help

While clearing out some of my stash I cam across an afghan that I would love to do for my son. I am thinking of maybe using old cover kit charts for this as I think these might be large enough, so was wondering does anyone have any that they no longer need. I would need them posted as my printer doesn't speak to my laptop. Obviously I would be willing to pay all costs involved....xx

I have a fair few, I will have a look and see what boyish ones I have. :)

**louise** - your pics are lovely framed. So is your wallpaper!!!!

more off topic (sorrryyyy). Anyone have an atom splitter as apparently I need to split myself into 3 (4 would be nice as then I'd have a bit of me for ..... me but 3 will mean enough for everyone else!! can you tell what sort of morning i've had so far!!

lmao, thanks - better not let hubby see that, he will say it proves the living room doesn't need redecorated :rotfl::rotfl:

Sounds like you've had a rubbish morning though, hope you're ok

    morning all

lovely framed pics louise and £55 for both was a bargain, the only place i know near me who does framing was going to charge me £90 to frame and mount this

    236.jpg

so i did it myself with 3 kids i cant afford £90 to frame one picture!!!

Wow, I would have fainted at that!

I am the same, 3 kids so it needs to be cheap and cheerful but still do the job. If I frame things myself I try and get a frame with a mount so the finish looks better :)

Also I really dislike the wording....
'If you sprinkle when you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie' It's the word 'seatie' that I really don't like.
I am going to change it to the other wording I have on another kit, 'If you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be sweet and wipe the seat'

I prefer the second version as well, :T

  • Still trying to catch up with posts in between playing "the washing game" as my DS used to call it when he was little - bringing the washing in and then back out as I try toget it dry between showers.

As usual I enjoyed reading the reviews of the latest issue of Cross Stitch Crazy (thanks Louise and FE) so here are my comments. Comments in black are Louise's. Mine are in blue

    Cross Stitch Crazy arrived today:

Free Gift - Charity cards. I like the cards, Not keen on any of the designs if I'm honest but it's a good thing to make if they can raise some money.
    Agree

You've Got Mail - I went off Somebunny designs a long time ago, it's cute but I won't stitch it.
    Neither will I

XStitch Quickie - I like these little fairies, they will make good cards, I need to sort out which ones I have missing from the collection though.
I agree and i like that next month's (November) features fireworks - I've got lots of US charts that have Thanksgiving themes for November

I like the version of A Good Marriage on the opposite page to the Fairy design

Celebstitch - Ayrton Senna. I have no idea about Formula 1, I gather he died in 1994..if I'm honest the chart doesn't look like it's going to look like him when it's finished
Not interested and the photo they have chosen to chart is a strange choice IMHO

50 Teatime gift ideas - plenty there that can be used for cards
Nothing here that I will stitch

October must-haves - Some nice stuff on here, I like the ad for 'Cross stitch kind thughts' I like little phrases. Does anyone use a laying tool? It seems rather time consuming to me :o and at £20 for those ones advertised (they are pretty though!) I would be likely to lose the flipping thing
Yes I have a laying tool but I don't use it for XS only for designs on canvas which use different types of threads and stitches. Price of these seems high for acrylic beads

Cats & Dogs ABC - Cute and colourful
Could be useful for cards or other small gifts though I wouldn't stitch any of them for myself

Craft Xtra - Diwali cards, don't know anyone I could stitch them for, I like the one with the fireworks though.
So do I and I have a relative with a birthday on 5th Nov so could come in handy

Poppy Set - I like poppies but wouldn't stitch this.
I really like the design but find it so annoying that there are no making up instructions. Even an experienced sewer like me would like some guidelines for something like a sewing maching cover:eek: They could have put them on the website if they didn't want to take up space in the magazine. The poppy on the pincushion is my favourite design in the mag (and I could make a pincushion without directions :D)

Ask the Angels - I like the stitchable necklace pendant which is recommended but think it's a bit expensive?
Love the shoe designs especially the Vervaco one - stitching a shoe like this is about the closest I would get to this type of shoe these days

Red Riding Hood - Very cartoony and cute, and I can imagine a little girl would absolutely love it, it would make a great gift.
I like the idea but not the execution but I do like the way it is finished as a hanging

Craft Animals - Won't stitch these..there is a cross stitching sheep and bunny though lol:rotfl:
These would be nice for gifts e.g. as a patch on a notebook, a coaster, a pincushion or scissors fob. Definitely on my "remember these" list. I've just done a "new Pad" design for a friend who has just moved house which is a cartoon toad on a lily pad and am very pleased with how it has turned out -these could also be successful

    Live, Laugh,Love - Nah
    Not for me either

Grandparent cards - We don't actually 'do' grandparents day (I felt it was only started for commercial reasons and it would have cost us a fortune as until a couple of years ago we had 10 grand/greatgrandparents between us. Down to 5 now but we don't need one day to make them feel appreciated as we see them all the time.
Not keen on these designs. How lucky to have had 10 grand/greatgrandparents you knew and can remember

Halloween - One or two I might stitch, I bought some glow in the dark tread months ago and have never had the chance to use it lol
    Not keen on Halloween

Challenge Lucie - Some good little designs there - Hen party one is v cute, I could use the meerkat, swimming and tank ones as well.
Nothing of interest to me here

Next month...oh flip.....that's all the Xmas stuff starting!!!
And it will be like that until December! I like the Let It Snow by the Historical Sampler Company but it looks very familar and I'm wondering if a similar design has been published before

Too many non stitching adverts again - full pages for bulbs, hearing aids, stairlifts, model Christmas but thankfully not the creepy baby monkey

Among the stitching related adverts I really like the Michael Powell scissor keeps and key keeps on p9 and the latest Elegant Lady by John Clayton "Scarlett" on page 58 - I love this range of sesigns and this one is different and quite stunning

That made me laugh, because I can picture the thing exactly in my head :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Louise £55 for 2 large designs to be framed is a bargain; no wonder you don't want to change framers.
I really like the beach wedding design as well and have marked it ready for the right occasion
Love the frames you bought and used - what a bargain. Our Sainsburys isn't big enough to sell things like frames. I particularly like Swan Queen - looks stunning framed and how great to have some Xmas pressies sorted already. Love the colour coding of your signature.

Looking forward to seeing your stitching achievements in WOCS. I think they should introduce cross stitching as an Olympic sport and you would be certain to bring home the gold medal for Team GB (and stitching in Rio wouldn't be too taxing would it:D)

FE Dimensions threads seem to be their own make although you can find conversions of the numbers to DMC
Loved the article about the knitted dress - it looked really pretty and of course is completely unique. Of course you could cross stitch your wedding dress (some of it anyway)

sweetcarer - good hear you enjoyed your holiday - you deserve a break; shame about the job

Soulie I love that wedding chart - very modern and lovely colours. I like this design from The Historical Sampler Company

nmm good to see your progress even if we're not yet at the "Rolf Harris stage". And I love your Mo and Poley Xmas card

chicky - you are making great progress on your multiple pieces

blue eyed girl Well done on SB so far - a mammoth project but all our work is accomplished one stitch at a time

Just off to take a phoro of my Angel Stocking as it is being put away for a couple of weeks while I work on another non XS project

    Hello Girls

Sorry not been in much - but been watching from afar.

Been working really hard - even did some overtime today - my cover for my holiday only did a ¼ of what she was supposed to do - so I am now climbing the mountain to catch up - got up to where I now only a ¼ behind now and I think I will be able to catch up during the work week this week.

Well I have finished the first of the work birth samplers, and about to start the next one hopefully tonight but I am feeling a bit tired been up since 6am, as I wanted to make some welsh cakes for the guys at work who were doing overtime with me today.

Loving seeing the framed pieces - only ever had one thing professionally framed - need to try and get a picture of it - it was the family tree for my late husbands mums 70th birthday - it was my own design too. I usually frame things myself - look out in charity shops, £ shops, etc fo find suitable frames.

Well better get on and have some dinner - chill and then maybe some stitching.

Keep well where ever you are

    sweetcarer ;)

    Here's the baby's stitch

My framed pieces, cost £55 for them both:

    Mermaids of the Deep
    Completed 2008
    18x27.5inches

    Candlelight (John Clayton)
    Completed 2012
    17 x20inches

Amazing pictures Louise. The cost of the framing seems a super price to me.
Havn't done any cross stitch for a lloooong time. But I took a chart whilst on holiday and got a fair bit done. Maragaret Sherry of two cats cuddling, which is rather sweet. Will try and get a bit more done tonight.

No stitching done so far today but am getting sucked into the olympics and may find a lot of sitting down time when I can stitch over the next few weeks!

Wow at the framing Louise, I have a church friend who frames mine and usually charges me less than he should, so I in turn let him frame more stuff then I would normally get professionally framed iyswim, but it works for us.
