OMG to that cake!
At first I saw the pic and didn't read what sweetcarer had written and my first thought was 'What a lovely looking sewing box, wish mine looked like that'.
JCS. Nice job lot! Your cat is lovely too
Clarissa. Welcome! :j
I think I have earnt my stitching time this afternoon. Was out in the garden just after 8am, weeding, trying to keep on top of the darned things! I wanted to get out early while the garden was in shade and before the temp got too high.
I got the weeding done and my Aquilegia seeds have been collected ready for sowing next year. Only thing I forgot to do was take out a cane or two from the now established conifers and use them to support the rose bush.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Welcome to Clarissa and welcome back Caroline
Dunno if I will get to work on Earth today - it's DD's 5th bithday tomorrow so I am giving the house a once over since we will have around 15-20 family members visiting tomorrow for a BBQ (hoping the weather stays nice like today so we can use the garden) Also got to bake cupcakes and force the boys to clean their room lol.
Tonight I will be at my mums - I've been going over on a Wed evening to keep her company, she gets lonely sitting herself, so we will watch the final of 'Superstar'. I like Rory, won't mind if Ben wins but Roger doesn't seem 'rock' enough.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Now who was it I was bidding against with Tigger and wanted to know if it had the DMC colours in it?
Well by the looks of things it does have the DMC colours though it doesn't say DMC above the numbers, it does have black down as 310, so I would think so.
Anyways here is the colours I have on the Tigger chart:
310 - Black
727 - Lemon
747 - Ice Blue
776 - Pale Pink
900 - Burnt Orange
947 - Orange
972 - Yellow
907 - Lime Green
I'm sure you will be pleased that you didn't win it though, as on the auction it said the packaging had been opened, which is true, but they hadn't attempted to even use cellotape to re-seal it, and although it also said it was from a smoke free house, I can smell stale nicotine on the fabric. Okay I can wash it before I stitch it, but I would have rather her be honest about it.
Afternoon all  Soulie, it was me who wanted to know about the tigger thread numbers and thank you very much for taking the time to post the numbers – that’s very helpful.
I’m sorry the fabric is smelly. How rude. I also agree that she should have mentioned this in the listing / or not said that it came from a smoke free home? Perhaps she bought the item on ebay and was selling it on ? It reminds me of the time many years ago when I got into a bidding war for some stickers. The listing made out this was the bee knees of stickers and that although some had been used, there were many sheets where it was a complete set. Anyhow I had a mad moment and outbid everyone else and paid over the odds. I was really pleased until they turned up and discovered (1) they were not as described in the listing and that in fact there were hardly any complete sheets and in any event they absolutely reeked of smoke, so much so, I kicked them under my wardrobe (later to be binned). I don’t I ever raised a dispute. I should have I suppose.
Re the comments about postage – I find its swings and roundabouts. Where you save with one, you overpay with another.

Earth is looking amazing. Are you stitching this on the white plastic lapframe you have??? I’m guessing you don’t find stitching on black aida an issue? Do you have any tips??
The cake is AMAZING!
I’ve had two nights out this week so tonight is my first evening at home. I’ve not managed any cross stitch either. (been doing competition puzzles on my commute to work) Hoping to do some cross stitch tonight once I've tidied up.0 -

Hello Ladies,
I have been AWOL for far too long, sorry.
Things have been tougher than usual, and that black dog has now taken up residence at my door. The GP is being proactive about it now, I think he has realised that telling me to cheer up is not going to get rid of my feelings.
I have now been retired due to ill health, and although I expected it, it has hit me very hard.
So, I need something to focus my mind on (other than my health) and I think coming back here is a step in the right direction!
I haven't read any posts, so I will endevour to read through them as I get chance.
On the stitching front, I started a cross stitch for my grandad, aiming to get it done by July for his birthday, but failed.
I will finish it soon and still send it, and sent a good old fave of his instead for the big day - Fox's Glacier mints... Ok not the best gift in the world, but he loves them and can't get them easily in France. I will send the picture in a Mad hatters tea party "very merry unbirthday" kind of way.
Hope everyone is well!
Happy stitchy day

I'm not too keen on stitching black on black lol but I'm getting on better than I thought I would with it.
I use the lapframe, and usually put some light coloured material on my lap on top of the frame support (if that makes sense) so I can see the holes better.
I have also been gridding the fabric - I started using one of those white pens but decided it's rubbish and I hate it  :rotfl:I hate stitching 10x10 grid lines because when you try and remove them you can end up messing up the stitching around the holes. So I have got a long length of thread and stretched it right over the area, attaching it at the sides where I won't be stitching, and I can just nudge it to the side when I stitch in the holes the thread lines up with.
Example here:
I dunno if I have explained too wll, but basically where all the grid lines cross, none of them actually go through the holes of the fabric, they just sort of hover above it.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
