I think this is the great wall of china kit clicky gildius please correct me if i'm wrong but i have one word WOW :rotfl:

Wow, that is truly a once in a lifetime project and will look stunning. I like the estimated hours on the website, 224-249 hours!

I do have something on a similar scale that is lurking in the cupboard which was a present. It's:

    https://www.stitchingbitsandbobs.com/cgi-bin/Store/showimage.cgi?TheaGouverneurKits0GOK1076SheepMap36CountLinen20000

65 cm x 85cm and on 36 count linen  It's safely back out of sight now (and can you tell from the design that I live on a sheep farm :rotfl:)

    Have a good evening everyone,

Thanks :T for the ID on the birds – I'm a bit clueless!

I bought Beyond Sudoku to take with me on my hols. I spent days trying to do one puzzle, called Samurai Sudoku which is five sudoku puzzles in one with the added complication that each puzzle has its own set of rules which added to the fun. (kind of!) Despite the time spent, I didn't get very far. Cross stitch is much more productive!

Interesting to read about your visit to the chain pub. What idiots!

Yes I like the birdhouse but I fear I don't have the time, energy or funds to stitch this at the moment. :(

A bit late but I have stitched with 3 strands of thread on 14 count aida. It creates a nice bold chunky effect. When Mr Men first came out in Cross Stitch, the designs were very simple (just 2 or 3 colours) but 3 strands of each it created that Mr Men effect? I did stitch something recently with 3 strands but I can't remember what it was!

I researched Magic Evenweave probably last year? I remember dithering over whether to place an order for, I think, some of the magic evenweave which was for sale in Australia. I don't know why it isn't easy to buy over here (well it wasn't at the time) and I don't think I've looked since but I don't recall ever seeing 20 count :(

    FLOWERS OF SCOTLAND
Yes leaving a restaurant without paying is theft and I wonder what pubs/restaurants/similar do in this situation? Most places have CCTV now. Crumbs, I'm sure you could track my journey to work what with bus cams and CCTV etc. I just hope no embarrassing footage of me sleeping on the bus gets laughed at by the bus drivers at their xmas party... :rotfl:

I would be too scared to leave a restaurant/pub without paying but I'm guessing it occurs.

We ate in a steak restaurant in a surburb of Sydney (Manly) when we visited Australia many years ago now. The service was the worst I have ever known although the food was very nice. We didn't leave a tip. Very much a case of the restaurant being too big for its boots. It was (at the time) very popular with visiting sport stars etc.

I don't like the Bothy Threads London kit – there is too much going on.

    Thanks :)

Sew n sew do 14 or 18 count magic guide aida, at very little extra to the plain fabric but I'm just not sure if 18 count will be fine enough for the HAED design? Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and try 25 count linen like they recommend? Eep! Just means I'll need to grid it myself.

sorry if my post above seems to be a bit random. There were so many posts I wanted to reply to that I got confused especially as you can only quote 3 posts without lots of faff.

My issue of World of Cross Stitching also arrived today and here's my take on it....

    Free Gift
Not the best/bit naff to be honest (don't imagine if used regularly will last very long) but better than no gift.

    Stitcher's guide
    Useful I suppose?

    Heaven Sent

Something about this design doesn't look right to me. Not something I would stitch.

    A note from Margaret
Not interested! A MS bonus chart yes! but not waffle.

    Curled up and cosy
I remember liking this when I saw it last month but the cat is dwarfed by the sofa and I don't like the sofa colours either. Might stitch the cat on its own (but not using the colours used (too faint for my liking) but doubt it. Too many other projects

    Sunny Sailing
I live by the coast but I don't like this design. It doesn't look right. Not sure why?

    London calling
I remember saying I really like this design when I saw this advertised last month and it still appeals but just not enough I feel to stitch. I might stitch the individual motifs but not as a whole. Too many other projects calling for my time!

    Here's to you
These are ok but I don't like enough to stitch and the wording, I feel, doesn't really fit with the pictures - doesn't' sit right/has been charted badly?

    Craft xtra
I don't like these and won't be stitching them but I have to say, they look very much like characters from (I want to say Columbo) but I mean the game Cluedo!

    Paradise found
    projects for a rainy day

    Sweet scents
Dislike these. Definitely a no no stitch. and PLEASE why can't we have a picture of Durene smiling ????

Top 10 ideas for holiday stitching
interesting article particularly the comment that the clover thread pedant is not allowed with some airlines :(:(:(

    Mel's sweet treats
Like the border, that's about it!

    Summer favourites
This has something about it and I like the shape of the flowers but too many projects, too little time, springs to mind.

    High in the sky
this is ok but not something I would stitch. I like it without the people! Like the colours/patterns.

    Picnic treats
These are ok. Might stitch the fruit, not the letters.

    Crossword and furry tales
A possible stitch. May be without the butterfly?

Whats the best way to stitch the mirror image (i.e. the stitched version rather than the charted version?)

    Next month
Like the look of the Joan Elliott designs and Textile Treats looks interesting. Not a fan of all our yesterdays so a miss from me there. Woodland Critters look good and like the look of the free kit. August wouldn't be August without a bit of Christmas stitching :j
No to the ballett and not sure about the Cottage. Don't like the Friends forever design either.

    Jen'll fix it

    Not for me.

    Summary
An ok mag with not much in I want to stitch (no bad thing) but now I will be impatient to receive next months! Probably would have left this issue on the shelves if I'd browsed it in the shops.

By you have been a chatty lot today :D

Mrs. MP - belated happy birthday to you. Sounds as though you had a super day. Thanks for the link for the Anchor threads - ordered some tonight.

Soulie - great progress with eagle. Glad the threads are on the way to you. Your postie is going to have to do OT with all those eBay parcels. :D

Ailsb - enjoy your hols :j

maria - had a quick look on pininterest site but have decided there are not enough hours left in my day to spend any more time on my laptop :o

nmm - definitely with the lines between. Looks lovely btw.

gildius - thanks for comments. I will post pic of bit on chart that I think the 'side cancels' refer to to see what you think.

JCS1 - have you actually started your sheepie/map project yet?

Have made a start on Sleeping Beauty. I've decided to stitch in the 10 x 10 square method that some of you ladies do instead of jumping here there and everywhere. So far I have done 6 of these 10 x 10 squares - woo hoo that's a whopping 600 stitches - daren't work out how many more to go  I've put it away for tonight as I'm rather tired and may arms are aching.
Depending on progress I might do weekly pic updates.

Just off to make a cuppa and settle down to watch Superstar (set it recording earlier).

blue-eyed-girl, Haven't started the sheep/map, I did take it out of the packet once, looked at the size of the fabric, all the threads, and then quite quickly put everything back. I really should get a floor frame and set it up. Looking forward to an update picture of sleeping beauty.

Loving the RM roses, nmm, very stylish and you've completed it quickly.
