Sounds like a lovely day, been slightly out of loop so assuming with all pressies etc, a birthday?
If so happy b'day if not then just happy outing day.
I can't wait to see Titanic progress

    yes i was 50 yesterday:o

nmm, i think i would put the black borders in separating the three smaller flowers but see what everyone else says and go with your own instincts, it looks beautiful and really neat. simple but very effective

  • Morning all. Just catching up with all the posts

Louise I'm another one who buys and makes for Christmas each year. We have a large extended family with lots of children so it's the only way I can "cope"

You have made great progress on Earth

I actually LIKE having some UFOs as it means I always have something I can pick up and stitch. Like you I mainly stitch from charts not kits so the prep time for starting a new project is sometimes off putting and it's much easier to pick up something I've already started. I prefer to think of them of WiPs although some of them have been "in progress" a very long time

gildius Would like to add my welcome to you. Looking forward to seeing updates on your amazing project

Chicky That sparkly aida is lovely and a very good price as well
    Red Arrows are looking good
Love that Bothy Threads kit - I agree I've never seen the Thames that colour and what is that strange yellow orb in the sky?? Can't remember what the sun looks like

Superstar I've been watching it but haven't got a favourite and haven't been inspired to vote though I do like these programmes for stitching as I don't need to watch only listen . Not sure that I like the every night format either. But I realise they haven't got much time as the arena tour is only weeks away

Soulie Great to see Eagle taking shape

Elle Dictionary of Cakes is lovely - it was a UFO I finished after I joined this group

Ailsb Enjoy your holiday - hope you get the tiger finished

Maria I agree Pinterest is a great consumer of time - fascinating though

mrsmp What a perfect day - quality time with family, stitching goodies bought for you and some stitching time as well. You will love Celtic Noel

Had a very frustrating weekend stitch-wise. Planned to finish sundresses for youngest GD but sewing machine started to play up so wasted huge amount of time trying to sort it out, finally gave up and then finished one of the dresses by hand.

  • Personally I think it looks better with the borders on.:)

How did you photoshop it though? Its very clever, I didn't know you could do things like that! :o

    Happy belated birthday mrsmp!

Nmm. I was going to say I'd have left the smaller borders off as I thought putting them in would 'be too much black' on the design. But now I have seen the photoshopped pic I think the borders would look ok.
I don't have a favourite though, think both look ok.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • Just a thought, and I don't know how it would turn out, how about doing one strand black and one strand a different colour, perhaps one that you have already used in the design? Perhaps then it wouldn't stand out so much if you see what I mean. Maybe even a totally different colour, not too sure about that though, but just an idea.

Thank you all for the lovely comments on the eagle, much appreciated!
Speaking of which, I had an email from Wilton Industries who do the dimensions kits, saying a 'replacement product' was being shipped to me and it should arrive within 21 working days, so that's good news!
I'm very surprised that they didn't ask to see a receipt or some kind of photo evidence!

Soulie - the Eagle coming along a treat. How much more is there to do?

Thank you, I have done the entire top half, which was 288 across by 99 stitches down (a whopping 28,512 stitches all together), and I have exactly the same amount to do on the bottom half :D

Last night I got a bit carried away on eBay :o
Ended up bidding on 17 lots, all cross stitching kits, some larger projects, some cover kits and some in between lol
Trying to build up my personal stash for next year (and maybe 2014 too at this rate lol), and also make a start on charity stuff, which the cover kits will come in handy for!
Anyways I won one before I eventually logged off last night, a cute little penguin that I plan on making in to a Christmas card for the OH :T

My copy of WOXS arrived today, so look away now if you don't want to see my review :rotfl:

Oriental Bloom - Not something I would stitch for myself or for a family member, but since I have various charities in mind for this year, it could be something to stitch for charity.

    Mimi the Kitty
    - Again, not something I would stitch for myself, but again, got my charity head on here, and I think it would make a nice little gift for a childrens's ward or hospice.

Cliff Top View - I liked the look of it from the front cover, but it looks a bit 'blocky' in full view, so to speak. Maybe it would look better on a larger count.

Best of British - Love it! Love the colours too nice and bright. This is already on my list for 13 on 2013 :D

Cocktail Congrats - They are okay I suppose, my favourite one is the 'bottoms up' one as it is more colourful.

Subs Only - Not something I would stitch, though I wouldn't mind the 3rd in the set from the website, but it never lets me login!

Design Library - Not sure I would stitch many of these, maybe as bathroom pictures, but I do love the colours used.

Perfume Bottles - Not for me, and I wish they would get a better photo of Durene, she always looks so miserable!

Cupcake of the Month - Don't like this month's offering, though I do understand what she is trying to do with her designs, but some of them are just TOO themed. If you know what I mean?

Sweet Peas - I like it but I can't ever see me stitching it.

Fairground Swings - I hated these as a child, so it's definitely something I wouldn't stitch :rotfl:

    Cherry ABC - mmmmmmm Cherries.

Furry Tales - Still hate these things, maybe it's because I loved Newton's feature so much! However, this one would make another good one to stitch for charity maybe.

    Other Stuff:

A note from Margaret - I like her designs, but is this feature really necessary? I stopped reading her 'notes' after reading about her 'oh so many problems' with her house, which she had kindly provided a photo of, a few issues ago. Show off! /rant

Four Seasons (Pg 24) - I like those, and the colours used. Think I prefer the owls to the russian dolls though.

Out & About - I will read this later as it looks like a really interesting article.

Jen'll Fix It - Nothing I could use there.

Free Gift - Worst gift ever. I have tape measures, so I have no need for this one just because it's been all prettied up!

Next Issue - Looks a bit hit and miss for me. From what is shown, I like All our Yesterdays and the cottage as it reminds me of my Mum's house and of course the free gift has come at the right time, one to add to my charity stash I think!
    13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13
    May
    Misson: Complete 20 Stock Cards - 23 of 20
    - DONE! :T
Read all Unread Books: 20 / 47  - oops bought 8 more books, 25p each though!

I like it with the black borders down the middle and between the smaller flowers. esp if you are putting it in a black frame.

I had my eye on an aida/ thread/ book bundle but was good and took it off my watch list so i wasn't tempted.

the more i like the more i think i'll order that blue aida.

finsihed red arrows. will try and frame it tonight if not i'll just post a completed pic.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Hi ladies, i need your help :) I'm almost finished my mums RM, just the purple corner squares to do. Now to my question, should i put a black border between the 3 smaller designs or not? i might photoshop a version to see.

100% yes, definitely do the border between the small flowers.

The thick border 'frames' all the flowers and will tie them all in together

    It's a lovely design :)

That looks amazing! Good luck with that :T:T:T What is the actual stitch size?

*Note to self* NEVER visit China........

The canvas is 11ct and I use 3 strands of thread per stitch. It's a beast!

*Note to self* NEVER go back to China. I won't have any money left...
