Are you thinking of Cross Stitch Heaven? They sell small (5 x 7) pieces in lots of different colours0 -
Evenhttp://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=54533533ing to all
I finally have a place at a craft fair to sell my keyrings/coasters and have downloaded some lovely free charts from Debbie Cripps website. Does any one know of the best place for small pieces of different colour aida (samples I suppose) or other free small charts. I have found some in my mags but never seem to have the right threads!!!
Regards
Emma
Cross Stitch Heaven sell small pieces of aida (5 x 7)
Willow Fabrics sell small card or project packs
If you want hand dyed then Sparklies sell sample size pieces
and the Crafty Kitten also has grab bags of hand dyed aida
Goodluck with the craft fair Looking forward to hearing all about it0 -
I'm getting on with Hard Frost - over half done now. I'll post an update later.
However, having bought the Escher HAED I'm already planning it out. I've looked at the pre-marked Magic Guide aida and it's only £1 or so more expensive than plain fabric and would save so much time. But it only seems to come in 14 or 18 count. The magic guide evenweave goes up to 25 count but I don't fancy stitching over one thread of 25 count and the guidelines are set to stitch over 2 threads, so the squares wouldn't match the pattern anyway.
So - does anyone know if magic guide aida is available in 20 count (the smallest I'd fancy stitching over one thread)?
If not, those of you who've done HAEDs before - are they OK on 18 count? Is that small enough to show the detail?
And also - the pattern refers to Krenik blending filament. Do you stitch that on its own or in combination with a strand of ordinary thread?
Thank you in advance :A
I can't help with the HAED or Magic Aida questions but I do know that Krenik blending filament is stitched with 1 or sometimes 2 strands of ordinary thread. Knotting it to the eye of the needle helps to stop it from slipping out of the needle while you are stitching0 -

Ta! That's very useful. I'm not sure that the chart gives details of the thread to use alongside the filament, but that might just be me being an eejit...0 -
Whilst on my hols, I ate out quite a bit. I do find it interesting how different places adopt different policies concerning payment for your meals.
One occurrence that did irritate me was being asked to pay for our meals at the time the meals were brought to our table. The waitress commented that as we were eating outside we needed to pay for our meals there and then. This would be fine except all we were really interested in doing was starting our food! Ok they may have this policy but she clearly felt very uncomfortable asking us to pay at that point and would it not have made more sense when they brought the cutlery and placemats to ask for payment then?
So this brings me to my poll. Have you ever been to a cafe/pub/restaurant or similar, ordered and eaten meals but left without paying? and if you have left without paying is that because the meals were so awful, they didn't justify payment or simply because you fancied a free meal ??
Another place opened a tab for you but retained your card in a lockable box ? (we simply paid for our food upfront and didn't open a tab) another place (where we enjoyed £130.00 worth of food and drink ) well, we could have snuck out one entrance while the staff were busy elsewhere.
and to keep things kind of on topic would you take your cross stitch into a major sporting event ? Where is the most unusual place you have stitched?
Isn't the first question a bit like saying have you ever done any shop lifting or burglary? I've complained in restaurants and left without leaving a tip but not without paying.
Most of the times I have been to live sporting events it has been with work so taking along cross stitch wouldn't occur to me. Not sure that I have stitched anywhere unusual. I've been in plenty of situations where I would rather be stitching but that's not the same thing0 -

Just thought I would drop in and say "cherrie" for now. I am in the middle of packing for my holiday to Wales - not been there much since my late hubby died - tho born in Scotland he was brought up there - but we are going to the other end from there - going south to between Cardiff and Swansea.
Went to M&S to pick up some trousers I ordered online and popped into Next to see if anything - usually disappointed as I am a size 22/24 and I found a nice basic top for £4 in a 22 so will try that on and bought a lovely top for my best friend which was £6 - got a couple of earrings and that was it. I hope they all fit.
Making some of my cupcake victoria sponges - trying a different recipe. I am treating my da who is 77 and fell of his roof on Friday - silly old goat he acts more like a 7 year old, think he forgets his age. Him and my mum are looking after Sam while we are on holiday.
Keep well girls and I will catch you all when I get back - need to mind what page we are on so I can scroll back.
Kind wishes where ever you are

PS did anyone download this free design from DMChelp?
Can't look at this without giggling now and certainly wouldn't be able to stitch it. As for the other design for which Chicky supplied the link I keep thinking about the look on the face of any visitor who picked up a cushion with that design on it :eek:0 -
thanks FOS.
i have my eye on this... i love it. the design area is actually only 43.5 x 24cm so if i have a smaller mount/ thin up the border i reckon it'll be ok. not overly kean on the border anyways lol.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
****off topic*****anyone else watching 'superstar'?? to me the decision is so tricky cause of the 2 stereotypical jesus look-a-likeys (Jeff and Nathan). the only other one i can picture in the role is 'simba' (roger).
Would love Jon to get to the top 3 just to prove to Andrew he made the right decision putting him thro to the top 11.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
