chicky - wow your soo close! It looks awesome :)

Louise - always love the updates, never boring. what is confetti stitching is it just the odd bit here and there scattered. reminds me of bloodspatter analysis (can tell i was a forensics student :p)

Brednall - only other suggestion is clothing patches for customising garments and badges, Wilko and morrsions have blank badge sets (6-8 in the pack) for 99p they come with coloured pens. Also let me know if you if you need the link for cheapest blank plastics for coasters etc. Did extensive research recently.

sweetcarer -love your piece, might have to look for the chart as would be lovely for Oh next anniversary.

    FE - welcome back!

Went to hobbycraft enroute home and was very good, picked up four pieces of felt, a fabric marker (dissappears in cpl of days) and some thread heaven...still over £8 spent. :(

On ebay I put in a £1.50 bid (in advance as away) for Kreiknik metallics x12, did not expect to get any of them and ended up with the lot :p

Right I really must do some stitching especially with mum and Oh birthdays in july (day after each other)

    Have a good stitchy day!

Chicky - You must be so pleased to be nearing the end! I love the design, would attempt it myself but just can't fit it in :(

My friend saw the little baby picture I made for my niece and asked if I could please make one for her new grandson. She offered to pay for it as she appreciates the time that goes into stitching but there is no way I could charge her anything and told her to accept it as a gift.

I actually think it looks better than the first one and I will use this layout in future. Plus I have had that fabric sitting in a bag for over two years and it was nice to finally use it :rotfl:

It's really lovely Louise. I have a Beatrix potter birth sampler to do at some point, but as it is big it will take months. My friends bubba was born a month or so ago. I also think this one looks better than the first, probably due to my aversion to pink and also the fabric really brings out the design. Always in awe of the speed of your progress. How long have you been stitching and what is it about you, come on, share the secret, lol :p

Just a quick question how are the ladies doing with the really large xs from HK/China. Mt OH really really wants me to do one - but I have soo many projects on the go right now that I cant justify another.
On that note saw the exact pattern i needed to finish a duvet cover (ive lost the instructions) but couldnt justify the 70 price tag.. oh well
Apologies not been on much - decided to learn to ride and I keep falling asleep during stitchy time :(

I need to throw my hands up and say that I have managed to make zero progress in the last few days - husband poorly on Friday so ended up working from home (just when I thought I had baby settled, he turned up and required me to run around 'ministering') then he reminded me that we were going away to Indonesia for the night on Saturday (I thought it was this coming weekend for some reason) - so then I flew into a mad panic trying to pack everything but pack light :j! Mission accomplished - as Indonesia is much cheaper than Singapore and although we bought very little, it was lovely to have a two day getaway, all transport, meals and trips for £62.50 per head (and much less for baby) - a bit of a treat and we certainly wouldn't do it every weekend but it's the first time we've had away (-from the husband's work laptop) together for almost 5 months. :T

I was hoping to get back to it tomorrow so I will remain positive, hopefully let the mountain of washing wait until Tuesday and crack on tomorrow!

Lots of lovely photos on here of everyone else's hardwork will inspire me to pull my finger out (such precise work by the way ladies - mine is lot more amateur-ish!).

It's basically when sections are made up of lots of different coloured stitches rather than a block of colour. It takes so much longer but gives a much mroe realistic effect when completed.

I think we would all be interested in coaster links :D I have a few on my list to be made :T

lmao - I have been stitching for 18 years now, since my mum bought me a cross stitch for christmas when I was 15 (yes that makes me 33 lol)

I can honestly say that having the fabric gridded is the key to faster stitching. Also using a frame, which enables two handed stitching is another good time saving technique. (mine is a lap frame, I love it)

Can't stitch at the moment....i am glued to Wimbledon, Andy Murray is leading by one set and it's amazing......

Ok fellow stitchers, afternoon poll coming up.... the birthday money I received is burning a hole in my pocket. :D I've been into town today and managed to buy a £100 coat for £15 :j and I bought some new clothes while I was on holiday but clothes are boring so I shall probably allocate them from my non existent clothing budget :rotfl:

Anyhow, here are some ideas of what I would like to spend my birthday money on - please let me know what you would pick :T

So top of the list is blow all birthday money and more and buy a Wi Console with fitness board (whatever you call them).

Or: do I buy more cross stitch stash ? (See note below)

Or: do I join the 21st century and sign up for one of these iphone package deals ? I like the idea of having a smartphone - just not sure I can commit or warrant the expense which I imagine, with insurance will be £50 odd a month?

or do I save the money until there is something stitchy I want ?

Or Do I bulk buy lots of books (not yet published) I want from amazon ???

I welcome ideas and suggestions. On the cross stitch front - at christmas I treated myself with my sew and so voucher to unusual threads and material and think if I bought cross stitch stash, I should do the same again. So if there is something unusual that you think is a must buy then please let me know!

Best price in my opinion is an ebay seller. They also arrived quickly and are good quality and he does other plastic blanks too.

(let me know if link doesn't work)

I personally dislike the Wi, much more prefer xbox and kinect if you have enough room, just far superior in every respect imo

I would buy a smartphone (check play.com) (I have a samsung Galaxy I and love it). However I use payg instead of contract and spend 5-10 pcm using my giffgaff sim with lots of minutes, texts, internet etc. https://www.giffgaff.com.Also don't forget mob can be covered under home contents insurance or there is always protect your bubble company which is cheap insurance for smart phones.

or do I save the money until there is something stitchy I want ?
Always a good option, also could join in some SALS and use money for materials etc

Or Do I bulk buy lots of books (not yet published) I want from amazon ??? It's all about the ereader for me, I love my Kobo and am often reading now, especially the free classics. Also I know it is not same as a paper book but I can store thousands which leave more physical space for stash :p Books are always good option. check https://www.thebookpeople.co.uk

Good luck finding something to buy, if you want more info on anything just pm me and also if you decide to use giffgaff or book people, let me know so can recommend you and we both get goodies. ;p

oh yeah before I forget, no idea if you'll like but I am currently adoring Joebrowns.co.uk clothing and they have a fab sale at the mo.

I'm with subtle. I have a galexy s (mark 1) and I love it - just as good as an I phone at a fraction of the cost.

    no extra insurance.

was free when i upgraded my contact with o2. 24m contract. £22.50 (ish) a month - 200 min unlimited texts. then have a £7.50 bolt on for data usage.

mmmmm paper books. tho i ralry pre-order (or if i do tis day or 2 before and normally from asda or tesco..... oh youve reminded me the new Chelsea Cain should be out soon.

Right, I have finally after 10 ish (on/off) hours today decided that it is not a good stitchy day for me. I have faffed around for hours repeatedly trying to embellish the small guitar with metallic strings and beads....Eugh... stabbed my finger with the needle so that it bled profusely for a while. Once I finally gave up on the guitar which is now not a b'day pressie but one of a set of coasters for the OH's family for crimble. (In still haven't figured out what to stitch on my mums towel, mitt and bookmark and her birthday is in 2 weeks. I haven't figured out what to get/buy OH for his b'day (day after mums)) I finally decided I would try my hand at the Hardanger needlebook kit I purchased, after doing it wrong multiple times I finally got the hang of the kloster blocks so thought I would try the corner motifs...Alas it is not to be and I have now undone those to try again next time... Rarr.. Right enough ranting for me, off to watch tv and have a stitch free night and my finger still hurts :(
