  • Allmost there chicky

Thanks FOScotland they are all quite big pretty much everything i have ever done for myself and the kids, my mum suggested trying to sell them but i would be heart broken if they sold for silly money.

Really nice louise i love that fabric

Flat eric i would definatly be straight on the internet buying lots of stash

Subtle sorry you are having such a bad

Sorry chicky cant help you with blogs

Was planing on having everything done by lunch time so i could spend the afternoon/ evening sewing but after i had spent all morning running around i came over all perculiar like i did before so had a lay down for a hour and then i realised that i had run out of iron tablets days ago and maybe thats why i felt poo so run out to buy tablets and by the time i got home dinner was ready, then i had to do baths, homework, washing away and washing up so everntually picked up a neddle at half 6 at half 8 hubby gave me the hump and i cant sew with the hump so i put it away so the long and the short of it is i have achieved very little today! lol, apologies for the rant !
i promise not to do it again :(

Hope you are feeling better today.

Are there any other stitchings which you could incorporate into a quilt or a table runner? I've thought of a couple of other things - trays and footstools though both of these need money spending on the blank items.

I know you can't put things on the walls but have you got enough space to frame items in stand alone photo type frames?

Chicky. Love the Princess Palace, can't wait to see it finished.
I really must do a cut thru design myself, which one though when there are sooooo many to choose from :D

Ok fellow stitchers, afternoon poll coming up.... the birthday money I received is burning a hole in my pocket. :D I've been into town today and managed to buy a £100 coat for £15 :j and I bought some new clothes while I was on holiday but clothes are boring so I shall probably allocate them from my non existent clothing budget :rotfl:

Anyhow, here are some ideas of what I would like to spend my birthday money on - please let me know what you would pick :T

So top of the list is blow all birthday money and more and buy a Wi Console with fitness board (whatever you call them).

Or: do I buy more cross stitch stash ? (See note below)

Or: do I join the 21st century and sign up for one of these iphone package deals ? I like the idea of having a smartphone - just not sure I can commit or warrant the expense which I imagine, with insurance will be £50 odd a month?

or do I save the money until there is something stitchy I want ?

Or Do I bulk buy lots of books (not yet published) I want from amazon ???

I welcome ideas and suggestions. On the cross stitch front - at christmas I treated myself with my sew and so voucher to unusual threads and material and think if I bought cross stitch stash, I should do the same again. So if there is something unusual that you think is a must buy then please let me know!

    Hi FE.

    Here are my thoughts.......

We have a Wii and whilst it got used alot when we first bought it, it now gathers dust all year and only gets used at xmas time.

    Stitching stash/stuff. Always a good idea! :)

Smartphone. I have one and whilst it's not an iphone it does all I need it to do. As has been said, you can get smartphones that are just as good but for the fraction of the cost of an iphone, shop around, try a few handsets in shops.

    Books. Another good idea :)

Personally for me whenever I have birthday or christmas money to spend my first thoughts are cross stitch stuff, books and yankee candles and I try to get as many as I can for as cheap as I can :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

Thanks for all your replies re spending my birthday money, I think, if I can, I'm going to resist spending it at the moment and will just wait for the dust to settle and then decide. The main reason for buying a Nintendo Wi is for the Wi fit - I love Mario but don't want to find myself losing hours playing a game when I could be stitching and its a lot of money just to buy it for the fitness element.

I took Cross Stitch Card Shop (Issue 85) to work with me today and here is my review.

    Cover Kit
    Butterfly days

Not keen on this cover kit and doubt I will stitch. Like the card mount though so will recycle this for something else. I have to be honest and say this doesn't look like an All our Yesterdays design but I'm not a fan anyway (don't really get them).

    Monkey Business
Cute. Favourite is probably the money in the umbrella. I think the colours are a bit dull though and would probably use brighter colours. Not sure on the backstitch. The monkey holding the baloon is cute also.

    Best Buys for July page
Like the Farmyard fun kit but not something I would buy/or stitch Trio of Roses card is cute. Will have to have a look on their website to see if they have a suitable golden wedding anniversary card.

Elephant Minis are also cute and look well priced. Will have to investigate!

    Perfect in Pink

These are cute. Good to stitch up and have stashed in a drawer.

    Bright and Beautiful

Not for me but may suffer a change of heart....

    Subscriber order page.
Like the look of the free gift. Shame I'm already a subscriber.

    Please forgive me

I don't get these? I like the crab design but would omit the wording at the bottom of the card.

    and how does cmd + z = undo ?????

    Last day of term

Only like two of the designs (Thank you with the sun) and (Thank you on the easel). Not something I would have a need to stitch however. I don't like the bottom three designs. They don't compare to the two Thank you designs.

    All together now

The butterfly design is cute but I don't think I would want to stitch all of the butteflies as featured in the design and would just stitch one or two - perhaps as gift tags. Likewise with the other cards.

    Birthday Road trip
Like the campervan card - none of the others.

    Birthday Bands
These are quite cool although not sure I will stitch. Would like to see some christmas themed ones.

    Request a chart
like this. Shame there isn't a picture of the stitched up version. Not sure I would keep the Welcome Baby wording.

    Natural Beauty
Will keep and file away for a rainy day. Something about them that I like.

    Crafty Birds
    Not sure about these.

    Next issue
Like the look of this issue. Free snowman kit - fab. Christmas cupcakes - like. Also like Festive woodland homes and Fun snow greetings. Messenger birdie cards look good too. Not sure about nutcracker ballet cards.

looking for just a small bit of 22ct and 25ct evenweave for x-stitch.I need to test how two threads stitched over one will look, as have been stitching on 28ct 1 over 1, but next project uses blended threads.
just an inch of each will be fine!!!
I've tried on freecycle, and looked on craft sites, they do do mixed bags of small pieces but you can;t specify what count you want, and i only need a scrap bit of each.
    Any ideas?

FE dunno about cmd+z = undo but if you are writing something (e.g. in MS word and you press the 'ctrl' button and 'z' at same time it undoes the last thing you wrote.

LOL it's really funny reading the mag reviews without knowing what the charts look like and trying to picture the design.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

This was my first issue of my trial subscription and if the next 2 are similar I won't continue. I don't stitch many cards but there was nothing which has definitely made it to my TO DO list. I liked the Birthday Bands especially in the heart shaped aperture cards and also the crafty birds but nothing else really :(

    I think cmd +z = undo is more usually CTRL + Z = Undo on a keyboard

I also took out a trial subscription for Cross Stitch Gold at the same time and was far more impressed with the first issue I received.

Not that I actually NEED anything else to stitch at the moment - am struggling with my current WIPs. But now Wimbledon is over will be able to return to listening to TV while stitching

Here is the Mackintosh Rose design i got for my mum's birthday, nice & easy so i can stitch it quickly :) Its this design pictured below but i'm stitching it all together then adding a double black border around it like the wedding samplers, its a perfect fit for a frame i already have. I need it finished in 3 weeks, which should be easily acheived :rotfl:
