Judith, if no-one else has said they'd like the EP Banner, I would! Please let me know the cost and I'll send some money to you - let me know if you have a PP account or whether you'd prefer it in stamps or something else!
Only managed a handful of stitches yesterday - husband still off colour (and is still at home today requiring tending to) but at least he now has his work laptop out so I may get a little more peace and quiet.
Baby F is still off colour with her teeth too - meaning lots of upset tantrums and very nasty nappies! On the upside, my cousin had twin boys yesterday and they are all doing well (she looks like a film star in the photo - very jealous - don't know how she does it!)!
Fingers crossed that today is a more productive (and less hot and humid) day!

I think I would like to buy a tote bag that I can stitch some cross stitch on and wonder if anyone has any ideas on where I can get such a thing from? I think I would prefer something where I can use my own design?
I found this but its pricey and I'm not 100% keen on the design.
Gorgeous but very expensive
These are jute bags which could be stitched on (probably using perle or soft cotton thread) or you could stitch on an aida band and then stitch that onto the bag0 -
Hi guys, loving all the updates, nearly there chicky looks great and louise you stitch so fast i'm jealous :rotfl:
Ok update time, I finished Page 1 of Beautiful Dreamer :j
Here is the Mackintosh Rose design i got for my mum's birthday, nice & easy so i can stitch it quicklyIts this design pictured below but i'm stitching it all together then adding a double black border around it like the wedding samplers, its a perfect fit for a frame i already have. I need it finished in 3 weeks, which should be easily acheived :rotfl:
This is my progress so far, about 3 hours of stitching.
BD is coming along nicely and the MR design is lovely0 -
Sorry for the multiple posts...
I've been investigating the cushion design featured in Cross Stitch Collection. The material (19 count ariosa ref 3711/309 (Mocha) is available from Willow Fabrics but the mag says I need 22x22in (56cm x 56cm) but for sale, Willow Fabrics have 50 x 70 cm (£9.48) or 70 x 100cm (£16.93) Would I get away with the 50 x 70 cm material ?? i.e 6cm short of which it says I need ?
I'm also wondering whether I might be able to stitch this design on 14 or 16 count aida - I know it won't be the same as stitching it on the ariosa but welcome views from those more knowledgeable than me!
What's the stitch count? That will allow you to calculate the design size if it isn't already there.
You mentioned other stitches - what are they? Stitching them on aida may be more difficult than evenweave.
Quite a few of us here have made cushions so you won't be short of help in making one0 -
Nmm. Nice progress on Beautiful Dreamer and I really like the RM design.Next month.
Wow full picture of bird design featured earlier in magazine. Looks amazing but lots of work! and dread to think how much to frame. If you have this month's issue and can tell me what the different birds are, would be grateful!)
Can you post a pic of the design? If not, no worries but could you please post a reminder next month when this comes out. I keep looking at bird table designs but never actually buy one. I'm really interested to see this so would appreciate it, thanks:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Morning everyone,
Sweetcarer - love pic and the frame is perfect. Hope you both had a lovely day.
Chicky - nearly there with PP - in fact you might be there by now as I'm trying to catch up with the last few days posts.
Louise - baby pic is lovely. Patterned aida just added that extra special touch.
Mrs.F - hope hubby and little one are better soon and that you manage to fit in some stitchy time.
nmm - lovely pics. RM looks so pretty.
JCS1 - looking forward to seeing your hearts. Keep On looks great.
Ocemeer - can't really say to much about kits from HK as I'm still awaiting delivery of my Sleeping Beauty. Have been told estimated delivery is 18th July, which shouldn't be too bad it thats the case. Will let you know what I think of it when it arrives.
On with no 3 in set of 4 Art Deco minis and have totally used up one of the colours . Had the next dmc no to it but it was totally different shade so had to pay 90p for a skein this morning. Haven't decided yet whether to frame them as one picture or to use them as four different cards to have on standby.
Thinking about ordering Cross Stitch Gold (3 for £5). Does this mag mainly have large projects - if so then perhaps its not for me. Will have to phone up and cancel current WOCS before the 5 for £5 runs out. I hate doing this - I always seem to struggle with a reason for cancelling it. Have tried to do it online but can never seem to work out how.
Think we are off out this afternoon for some faux leather stuff to make a new headboard. Debating what size to make it - I told OH he has to leave sufficient room for Sleeping Beauty when she arrives.
Take care everyone,

b_e_g - yes, CSGold is mainly larger projects. If you like smaller ones then perhaps look at Cross stitch crazy? WOXS is my favourite mag which I have had for years, so I can't help with cancelling, sorry:)
Day 11 when I last updated
Now - Day 16, 4 pages completed
When I say 'Days', it can mean anything from 1 to 5 hours worth of stitching in a day. For those of you who manage to calculate the hours - how do you keep track of it so well?Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Wow, it's looking fab Louise.
The bookmark I'm doing for my mum at the mo is pink (variegated rose pink and white) on a dusky rose pink bookmark. Also the pattern is based on a border I saw in Oriental faves, (smaller though as using 18ct) which i'm tweaking. I have a great habit (not) of changing/ creating things as I go) makes for some interesting pieces0 -
wow louise that is looking brilliantSPC~12 ot 124

very off topic bit about interviews
GRR am sooo cross (kinda at myself). Had an interview today for a job which on paper I should have walked.
the whole thing seemed to go ok. had a good chat with the interviewers as we sorta know each other but only as voices on a telephone as we work in the same field.
THEN the job is full time. at the any questions bit I asked if I could continue my normal working pattern (4 days 30 hours) due to childcare, however as soon as hubby could get the paperwork through I qould be able to take on the full time role.
Honestly the response I got was quite frankly rude!! Being told that it was a full time post (as there would basically be no one to do my job if I wasn't in). This begs the questions: what if my kids are sick when they start school??? Am I allowed holidays?? (ok i know the legal stance but you get where I'm coming from).
basically they said they are interviwing x amount of people and that only in exceptional circumstances would I be employed on 4 days until the paperwork is sorted.
to me this seems soooo wrong. I explained I was asking them now as I didn't want the possiblity of being offered the role and then having to struggle with childcare (there is no point hubby changing his hours unless he has to but I can't force his HR to put it thro in x days).
I asked if perhaps a job share would be possible (as am sure my work would let me do 2 there, 2 in new post if required) but they basically said no.
what happened to the days of women being allowed flexable working??? I am sure this is blatent discrimination.
With the attitude I got part of me doesn't want the job now and for the pennies in wage difference (basically £500 a year) would be tempted to tell em to shove it if i did get it on the grounds my kids will always come before a job! My current rold is safe (which I know I should be glad of given the current climate) I just hate it.
anyway end of point just wish I hadn't even mentioned it!!! Then it would be there problem if i was offered the job and then told em.
what would you have done??
end of off topic.
