Thanks everyone for the comments re the CC slide :)
Should get the backstitch done today and I will take a finished pic on the camera. Asked hubby last night how to get pics off camera and onto my pc so we'll see if I can get it to work.

It's looking amazing - how did you find the hedgehog prickles? I seem to recall they are blended colours and quite randomly placed.

Compared to the first CC design I completed this one was a doddle as the prickle area was quite small :D
As FE said, they use 2 strands of thread but each of a different colour and yes they are randomly placed (confetti stitching I call it)

Here's the first CC design I completed, as you can see, much bigger and waaaay more prickles than the slide design,

Anyway I'm going off on one here, and what I originally wanted to ask, was partly in relation to Louise's gorgeous earth design. How do you decide what to stitch next? Do you just browse Ebay until something catches your eye? I'm notorious for decision making and dither about until I decide I really like something and then its too late!

I really have no idea what I want to stitch next, apart from giving the Paul Horton designs a go. I just wondered where everyone got their inspiration from really.

If I haven't got a kit to do for a time specific date I decide what to stitch next by going through my kit stash and see what takes my fancy. I went through it last night to see what to do after the CC slide but not made my mind up yet.

I meant to say lancs lady, I love the look of the Paul Hortons work! Never heard of him before but clicked your link and now I need you to do one of the designs you have to see how his work looks when stitched :D

Maria. Hope you feel better soon :(

  • Shelly, I hadn't heard of him before either! I was browsing Ebay and say a disc with some of his designs on, googled him to see what type of work he does, and just fell in love with his work. I'm even thinking of buying some of his prints (reproductions though not originals!) as I really like them. Think I might start one next and see what it turns out like.

It's amazing how an arrival of some stitchy stash can put you in a good mood for the rest of the day!

The chart booklet from America came today. The one with the Eagle and US flag. SO I can now order the thread (and fabric if needed) for that and also the thread for Red Riding Hood.

Also got a small package from Cross Stitch Heaven, 2 pieces of magic guide evenweave and some needles. Just a small stash as it was my first order with them, and I used their layway system, where you can place an order then pay in installments (I still have £10 to pay on my order!!!).
So I would highly recommend this site to everyone, as it is very handy for those on a budget. And I know I will definitely be placing a larger order on layaway very soon!

FOS - thanks for comments re mag - I am dithering atm but I think I might give XStitch Gold a go for the three issues.

lancs-lady - just had a look at Paul Horton pics and I think they are lovely. Oh no - is this more stuff to be added to the 'to do list'. They are certainly my cup of tea.

maria - hope you're feeling better soon.

shelly - CC is so cute.

Got no. 3 of 4 of mini Art Decos finished this morning - couldn't be bothered last night with backstitch (even though it was easy) and they had even managed to slip in some french knots (very cheeky of them I think). Anyway ready now to start no. 4 some time later today.

    Take care everyone,

  • BEG - I'm thinking along the same lines as you with regard to XS Gold. Am just looking at the site now. Must say am very tempted.

Soulie - thanks for that link. Am going to have a look at that. Very tempting to be able to pay in instalments - might be too tempting iyswim!

  • Sorry for the multiple posts today, I'm really off on one today. I always lurk, but I don't usually have anything interesting to say, so just keep quiet, so apologies if I'm annoying anyone.

Here is a list of all the Paul Horton houses I have. I have a XS designer programme if anyone wants me to try and design any extras for them, just give me a shout.

    1. AROUND EVERY CORNER
    2. CAPTAIN SUNSHINE
    3. COMMUNITY SPIRIT
    4. FALLING FOR YOU
    5. GO PLAY UP YOUR OWN END
    6. LIGHT OF LOVE
    7. LIGHT OF THE WORLD
    8. LOVE IS LIFE
    9. MAGIC OF THE CUP
    10. NEED A SPECIAL FRIEND
    11. NEVER SAY GOODBYE
    12. ON A MAGICAL WINTERS EVE
    13. ON RAINBOW DAYS
    14. SEA OF LOVE
    15. SOMEWHERE IN MY HEART
    16. SPIRIT OF SUMMER
    17. STEPPING OUT
    18. STILL OF THE NIGHT
    19. SUMMER
    20. THE HIDEAWAY
    21. THE LOOK OF LOVE
    22. THE MAN WHO NO ONE KNOWS
    23. THE MYSTERY DEEP
    24. THE ONE AND ONLY
    25. THE ROAD TO GLORY
    26. WHERE MY HEART BELONGS
    27. WITHIN MY WORLD
    28. WINTER
    29. WINTER WISHES
    30. WONDERLAND

Something I'm dithering about at the moment, do I stitch the Cross Stitch Roses, or do I use the material for something else?? Its quite a big piece of cloth but its either 10/11 count and I've never stitched on that before so I really don't know.

I like the design - even though flowers are really not my thing - the only thing I don't like about it is the fact it has a clock on it, and its going to be a bit tricky to stitch it without the clock as its incorporated into the design iyswim. Mmm decisions decisions

Sounds like you purchased the one i'm thinking of doing but in aqua or teal I think.

As for the Paul Horton, not my cup of tea at all... :p

Chicky - if they are like that during the interview, I would be hesitant about working for them as a degree of understanding and flexibility is a bare minimum for a good working relationship. Doesn't really sound like the job is worth the extra travelling and hassle given the slight increase in income.

JCS1 - thank you again and I wondered which supplier you picked on ebay? MrF asked me what I wanted for our fast approaching 4th wedding anniversary and I couldn't think of anything but these may well fit the bill!

Husband still festering at home and baby still grumpy but a few more stitches managed - am still in awe of Louise's pace. Think you should be entered in the Olympics, Louise!

It is item number 130615447864 on ebay uk, though they don't post to where you are in the world.

But, same supplier has own website, so might be worth contacting them direct:

Arghhhhh ordering the threads for Red Riding Hood and the Eagle, but in the booklet it doesn't say how many skeins you need for the Eagle, so I'm going to have to guess :(
