  • Sweet career, I also forgot to reply, I tend to buy as and when I need colours so I wouldnt buy a whole set and also I think I would buy full skiens as I just keep what ever is left for the next project that needs that colour, also for the same reason I wouldn't just buy a little length. Hope that helps in some way

Louise I ment to say I'm incredibly jealous of you new project its stunning

Haha thanks for that (blimming cheek lol) x:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sweetcarer - I have already messaged you with my thoughts. i think it's a great idea for anyone who does small projects, cards and the like. :)

Maria - I love it so much, it's unusual for me to even enjoy confetti stitching, this one might even be rushed to the framers on completion lol

I have good news - I 'might' be getting my own craft room *fingers crossed* A woman in our street has a lovely loft conversion and it was very reasonably priced so we are going to speak to her builder next week. I'm hoping we can get two decent sized rooms up there for the boys, move DD into the boys current room and that would leave the smallest bedroom all for me and my stash! :T

Really hoping it will work out. If not, at least they will get a bedroom each and I just need to kick DS1 out at 18 (5 years and counting lol):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Morning guys, i secretly edited my sig to have a june challenge which was to complete page 1 of BD, i failed :rotfl: I have around 200 stitches left to do so it will be completed a couple of days late :( I must say though i really love the colours and enjoying seeing wolfy take shape. I will post an update later on.

Going back to the topic of paintings you'd like to stitch, when i saw the question i thought i don't like art so wouldn't stitch any, till i realised Beautiful Dreamer was originally a painting by Michael Pape clicky i love it even more now :)

I saw the free dmc Pink Flower chart on Facebook and think i might stitch it for my mums birthday, its fairly simple so shouldn't take long :D

    Hi Girls

Sorry I have not been around been very busy with work - boss is now off on holiday so was getting alot of stuff done before he went.

Well my threads arrived on Wednesday - so had to wait till yesterday morning to start - so I can hide it from hubby - so now doing it when he is sleeping and sneaking it into the bedroom to do some before I sleep and he comes to bed - he comes to bed alot later than me.

So I have till next Saturday morning to complete it - our anniversery! So heres hoping.

So here is where I am now

Still wondering what to do with the threads idea - not to sure if it is a good idea re the feedback I have already received but we will see.

Off to do more stitching - hubby still sleeping.

Keep well all, where ever you are

    sweetcarer ;)

    Morning everyone,

Horrible weather here so hoping to spend the day stitching :D

Here are pics of the ones I got back from the framers this week, the house one I must have stitched at least 10 years ago, the Rudyard Kipling one must be 2-3 years :o Dread to think how many more are in the drawer waiting to be framed........

Hopefully can get the 4 hearts finished this week, just the one to go and then the backstitch.

    Have a good Sunday

Hi everyone - I'm back from Chester after a lovely few days. Just popping in now for a flying visit and to ask you a quick question. How do people find stitching on 11 count aida??? I haven't used this before but I have found a kit which we think would go really well in our newly revamped bedroom. Would appreciate any advice you can give me. Will be back later tonight with a cuppa so that I can catch up with all your posts and piccies.

Well I don't know what I did (or didn't do) but the post I wrote yesterday was much longer than just a comment about washing before hols but that's all that appeared :(

I've been reading and running over the past few days as have been busy including a bit a of nightmare trip to London on the WestCoast mainline on Friday. I had thought of not going but would have lost what had been paid in advance for a one day conference and advance rail tickets so went ahead. Journey down was OK- just a bit delayed but the journey back  There were 3 trains' worth of passengers on 1 train on a busy route on a Friday evening. I was more fortunate than most as mine was the train that wasn't cancelled so I was able to claim my reserved seat but it was still stressful and slower than usual. Really felt for the staff as well as the passengers.

    Anyway back on topic

Ailsb - A Good Marriage is looking great; how true about the lack of time to stitch everything we want to

Flat Eric I would go for DMC, not because I think the other 2 brands are inferior but because I have a lot of American charts and they are only charted for DMC. Also I am familar with a lot of the colours of DMC so I can "read" a chart easier e.g. I know what shade of blue DMC 930, 931, 932 are etc.

Chicky - I'm another fan of stitchitywitchity I've been buying from her website for years and have also bought some things from her EB shop

lancs-lady Love Winter Angel; please don't get discouraged - it will be fabulous when finished. You could leave off the wings - I have seen this done

23rdspiral - very impressed with your P-shopping efforts. Think your invitations will look stunning and so much quicker than stitching them

Shades of Grey books - I'm in the "badly written" and "what's all the fuss about" camp. Was loaned a copy of the first one by a colleague who wouldn't take no for an answer and yes it's a very quick read but I won't bother with the rest of them (waste of good stitching time)

Soulie - I like the idea of 13 in 13 if we can include any type of crafty project as I don't just do cross stitching; I wouldn't restrict the size though as a mix of small and large projects would probably suit most people. Hope you found some way to scratch your stitchy itch with some bargains :D As for Louise having a higher total - imagine what she will achieve once she has her own craft room :rotfl:

sweetcarer not sure that I would have bought short lengths of thread just to see the whole set but then I've always been fortunate enough to have local shops where I can see all the colours on display. Your sampler is starting to take shape. Will your DH wonder how you managed to stitch it without his knowledge?

JCS Stunning work - the amount of detail in both is amazing; you must be delighted

    Louise Earth project looks amazing

I've never used 11 count aida but I would imagine it would be easy to stitch on. I think it is usually recommended that 3 strands are used for good coverage of the fabric so I would check this on the kit as 2 strands might look a little skimpy. Also how much of the fabric will be left unstitched? The holes in the fabric could be quite prominent if there are large expanses of fabric. Just my thoughts.

Glad you enjoyed Chester - it's a lovely city and small enough to be able to see it all in a few days.
