Soulie Margaret Sherry is having a sale on certain of her kits. I think there is 25% off.

AND she has added new charts that I've seen today but these aren't in the sale and are pricey in my opinion. :(

Thank you all, will take a look at both of those.
I am also going to buy some fabrics and some dye and try my hand at hand dying my own!

Edited to add: Just looked at across town stitching and none of the images of the items are showing up for me, so I think I will give that a miss as I shouldn't have to look up what they look like on another site!

Thanks everyone for the advice, I've come down with a rotten cold, nose streaming (sorry!), so stitching is out, so should be ok photoshopping instead!

sorry this isn't really stitch related...
Doing a re-enactment show next weekend, so will be finding way to xstich authentically :p makes a change from luceting.
    it.

Can I ask where you are going? What period are you? Im guessing somewhere between Saxon and Tudor if you use a lucet! I like trolley braiding myself. I met a Viking lady once doing xstitch on canvas with fine wools, looked lovely.

We usually go to Tewkesbury and Kelmarsh EH festival of history, but they clash this year! So it's just Tewkesbury for us. Although Kelmarsh is mere minutes from home, we are volunteering at Tewkesbury so couldn't back out. I really hope the weather is ok. Vintage Festival, also right near me, also same wknd, had just been cancelled. Shame as I was going for free on the Fridsy :(

    O.T

period 1190-1240. Our group is 'Drudion' and we portray Welsh mercenaries. No wimples for our ladies, we're all cross laced and easy :P We haven't done any big shows for years, members have dwindled. Used to do some of the big ones, Berkeley was my fave and a few of the Irish shows were annual and a real blast.
The one next weekend is a little one called Bromyard Gala, we mainly do living history and a l'il bit of combat (more for our enjoyment) :)

Never heard of trolly braiding, I mainly just keep the younger kids and little mops busy with Querning, stick weaving and luceting/finger weaving.

Also hoping weather is nice. This will be the first and only show I'm doing this season. Been thinking of joining a bigger society covering a later period. Especially now that we have a driver and car.

Hi all - watching Murray play so just a quick update

These are both Day 6 of stitching - I took one in the afternoon when I finished page 1 and the second photo at night after I finished for the day

I hated trying to use the white pen (it's rubbish!!!) So have used thread to grid the new page. None of the white thread is attached to the stitching area though, It attached tightly at the edges and I just weaved the threads through each other to keep them in place. It seems to be working well :)

  • Thanks Louise. Love your little baby pic - it is so sweet. Did you mean you have painted the frame - it looks great. Lovely idea of incorporating Dads name.

Just having a cuppa before I go for shower. Hope to get away by 9am - that means it will probably be 9.30 by our usual standards. DH is still in the land of nod gently snoring away (aw bless). I popped down stairs at about 4.40 and fed the washer (not with anything I was waiting for) its just I hate going away and leaving stuff in the laundry basket - I know, OH is always telling me I'm strange .......

    Take care everyone,

INMU the strange ones are the ones who leave dirty washing in the laundry basket for days or weeks

Louise - great progress on your earth design you will have it finished in no time. I don't think you should be allowed to jon the 13 in 2013 challenge you will put us all to shame and have them all finished by the end of the February. :D

Sweet carer - did mean to email you but realised I didn't. I think it's a good idea to try to sell the whole of the DMC range for a cheaper price for smaller amounts. However, as I have lots of floss (4 of the storage boxes full) I wouldn't buy it myself, but if I was starting out I would probably be interested. I do however think the idea of selling small amoutns of certain colours is a very good idea, can see this working when you are near the end of a project and run out with a few sticthes to do. However, not sure if the cost of the postage together with the cost of the floss would be more than going and buying a full skien of floss. Hope this helps in some way.

Off topic - went to watch the Olympic Torch today. Great atmosphere really enjoyed it and it didn't rain!!!
