FOS - thanks for the link to the IT crowd chart, thinkthis would make quite a quick make for something for my hubby fo rhis birthday in a couple of weeks time. Although if I do this whilst he's not here then I can't carry on with the Marriage design. May have to do this at lunchtime at work

off to bed after a busy evening out at my sw class. so no time for cross stitch :( but I have found the margaret sherry snail chart and I think I might stitch that in vaerigated thread albeit not sure where my vaerigated threads are :( Also found the margaret sherry kit of mouse and kit (free with cross stitch crazy) so also plan to stitch that....

these are the thread bobbins I was talking about. They have that extra bit in the middle to catch the thread. they seem to be made by a company called Darice ? Please let me know if you see them anywhere :T Someone is selling a pack of these on ebay but its not clear from the picture whether they have the slot in the middle

I didn't have a clue what you meant, but the picture explains it :o I haven't seen them about anywhere on my internet travels, they appear to be an American brand?

    Hi Girls,

Soulie - hope all went well for you. big hugs xxxx

Ailsb - A good marriage is looking fabulous :)

Flat Eric - I'll keep an eye out for your bobbins!

    I got my WOXS too, my thoughts below;

    Free Gift
Love it, I've got a real thing for butterflies at the moment! Think I'll stich this for Mum as a book mark.

    Margaret Sherry Cat
Cute but probably won't stitch, too much backstitch!

    Beautiful Blossom
    Nothing special

    Jungle Stories
Cute - might stitch as cards etc for new baby

    Down by the river
I like this, but won't stitch it, will keep the design though

    Say it with flowers article
    Nothing Special

Subs extra / girl with kite
    Nothing special

    Idyllic escapes
Some quite pretty motifs, will keep.

    Forest friends
also some cute designs, will probably keep.

    Mel's sweet treats
I'm another who doesn't get the 'cupcake of the month' what is the point? I'd much rather have a flower or cute animal or something of the month instead. Another magazine jumping on the cupcake band wagon :rotfl: perhaps we should all write and ask what is the point as the cupcakes don't even look like cupcakes!? :D

    Love and Cherish
More fab motifs/card designs, will definitely keep.

    Stitching style
Really like these, a different way to use cross stitch that I actually like! That said, not sure if I'll stitch them as FOS says, wiould be so much faster to use patterned fabric!

    Vision at sunset
Not for me either, where are the fairies?!

    Summer BBQ
As you said Flat Eric, I might keep for the food motifs but not the letters. They do come up with some very random alphabets, just for the sake of having an alphabet it seems. :p

    Furry Tales
Another one that I don't think I'll stitch, although I agree it is cute.

    Next month
Nothing really jumped out, will have to have another look at the London design you've all mentioned.
I like the idea of the free gift, although not sure why you'd need a special 'stitching tape measure' oh unless you didn't have another already I suppose?

I haven;t been doing much stitching I'm afraid :( Been playing on the computer and sorting wedding stuff, or trying to.

(Rant incoming sorry!) My sister is refusing to wear the bridesmaid's dress I've chosen, so a huge fall out maybe coming :( I don't see why she can't wear it for a couple of hours to please me, surely that's a BMs job?

And as if that wasn't enough emotional stuff, OHs Dad was rushed to hospital yesterday with a bleed in the brain. :(:(:( I confess I had a bit of a meltdown and had to leave work early. The not knowing brought back all the memories of losing OHs brother.
I know his dad is in the best possible place, and he is stable, so the outlook is good. It's so much to take in at once though. ....And breathe!

Ok, apologies for the moan girls, and hope you all have a fab day :)

-- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --
  • Thoughts are with you Soulie today.

Not too much appeals to me in WOXS. Didn't mind the the free gift. Thanks FE for the heads up re the green thread.

Love that LK design FOS. I agree with you that the other colour works better as the W stands out more. Looking forward to seeing update of version 2.

Didn't manage to post pic yesterday - but here it is now. Seems as though it has taken ages to do. Its not really my cup of tea but it will go down with the next lot of stuff to charity shop or school/church fair.

    Take care everyone,

    b_e_g

I think it's lovely. Have you considered listing it for auction if you don't want it for yourself or as a gift?

Thanks for the comments re Gossiping. I did some more stitching on it last night whilst watching/listening to the football and am much happier with it now. I think I may do the bottom section in the light blue that is now around the letter W rather than the green that is on the chart. I thinkk that balances it better.

Just a quick update of A Good Marriage. I'm really enjoying stitching it and wouldlove to be able to carry on but can't do any when hubby is around so back to rainbow tree again now.

    good by Ailsb1, on Flickr

Don't think I've done too badly on this, two evenings and an afternoon of stitching.

It's looking really good; v. frustrating to have to put it down! I love Lizzie Kate's lettering style

This company has Darice boxes which come with bobbins but you can't see if they are the design you are looking for. I have bought goods from this company at craft shows and I'm sure they would respond if you asked them to look at the bobbins as they are very friendly and helpful at their stand. They have some great storage items so follow the link to their site at your own risk :rotfl:
  • Skoobie - hope things work out well for your FiL-to-be. And yes it is the bride's prerogative to choose the bridesmaids' dresses and they just have to agree with her choice. But I hope you manage to reach a compromise and don't fall out with your sister

I hope your OH's Dad is okay, what a worry for the family :(

Regarding the dress - yes, my first instinct is 'it's the brides day so she chooses the dress' but I have to ask what reason she is giving for not wanting to wear it?

If it's just because of the colour or something simple then I would say 'tough luck' but if it's something about the style that makes her uncomfortable then I would take that more seriously and have a chat about it (just for example, I wouldn't wear a BM dress that really low cut, sister or no sister, I would worry about falling out of it all day) Did she not help when you were choosing it?
