Hi all, just a flying visit.
My WOXS dropped through the letterbox this morning, but I have put it in to my bag as I'm going up to Leeds tomorrow for my Uncle's funeral, and thought it would keep me occupied for the two hour coach trip then the hour bus ride to the village, something to read and make the trip go a bit quicker I think, so I will post my views on this issue when I get back on Wednesday.
My 13 year old son will also be coming with me, it's the first funeral that he has attended but like me he was close to my Uncle, so I am hoping he handles it okay.
Back to stitchy topic, everyone's projects are looking good.
Thank you all for the comments on the eagle, it's stitching up really well I think!
23rdspiral wrote: »Soulie - coming along well. How are you enjoying the variety of working on different things?
I'm really enjoying it! I think it's encouraging me to stitch more actually, as before I would get bored then just put it away and never bother with it again, but this way I am finding that I am putting a project away whilst I am still enjoying stitching it, so it makes me want to hurry back to it lol
I don't think I will get all 15 projects finished this year though lol
Right got to run, son is out of bath and tea is almost ready then I'm off for a shower and an early night.
See you all when I get back.13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

spoke to mum today she hasnt seen my lily stitchy but aparently described to my brother what i was planning and hed love one as well but going to do his with both twins on so looked up the birth month flower (morning glory) and stone (saphire) and going to do his with those on as well planning on doing other twins name out of the morning glory tendrils. bit ambitious so wish me luck. ive alredy found a flower chart that can be adapted to look like morning glory (i hope) and ive started stitching the balloon. plan is to get this done before july when i want to go back over to the hospital to visit again
soulie will be thinking of you tomorrowSPC~12 ot 124

. It is amazing how quickly new mothers and babies are sent home these days (well it is to me as I had to fight to get out after 5 days when the norm was 7). Mind you that was when dinosaurs roamed the earth
I remember when I had DD I gave birth at 7pm and was allowed home at 11pm the same night - there is such an increase in the birth rate that there were no beds for me (and that was in a fairly new maternity hospital):eek:flowerofscotland wrote: »Is anyone tempted by this?
No, it's not for me. I wouldn't mind doing a stitchalong with other people, but I would have to know what the design* was first. Plus, I would look for a UK site, sifting through the foreign language to look for the English parts is too much faff for my liking :rotfl:
*I do usually like their designs though, my Circe is a Passione Ricamo one

there are days when i would love more hours, but the special baby knitting is close to my heart even more so now my brother is in the position hes in. id sooner knit for free thinking it would help someone in a difficult time than knit for profit..
the 50 for my 50th challenge has slightly going off track because im doing things for my nieces but im determined to get all 50 done even if they get finished by the end of the year instead of by my birthdaySPC~12 ot 124

Firstly Soulie - hope all goes well tomorrow for you. Will be thinking of you. hugs xxxx
I'm glad Monday is out of the way - I'm full of cold and feeling sorry for myself. silly really. The arrival of WOXS has cheered me up and here are my views:
Free Gift
This is sweet but I'm not quite sure I *get* the design. Is it meant to be a butterfly landing on a flower? I'm not sure whether I will stitch it or not yet.
Meet our guests/this month's panellists
I am tempted to join the panel. Is anyone else a panel member????
Margaret Sherry Cat
Whilst I love Margaret Sherry's work, on this occasion, I'm not too keen on the design. plus I have no artist friends and its not something I would want to stitch for myself. The snail is cute and I might stitch this on its own.
Beautiful Blossom
Not for me.
Advert - page 23
Love the cushion from Willow Fabrics!
Jungle Stories
Cute - but too many on "to stitch" list already.
Don't like the Design feature on the blue (photo book?) on page 29 but do like the heart aida and the lion with the green balloon. The elephant is cute too. Likewise Zebra?
Down by the river
This is quite cool and the colours used are very effective but I feel something is missing from the design?
Say it with flowers article
Not interested!
Subs extra / girl with kite
Not interested in this.
Idyllic escapes
Not sure about.
Forest friends
cute but not something I think I will stitch.
Mel's sweet treats
I don't get this design ?? Very very odd.
Love and Cherish
I do like these. They are sweet. One might come in handy for me to stitch for a wedding anniversary card I need to (make/buy) later this year.
Stitching style
will have to look more closely at how these are done. They look quite cool :j I also think I might have the aida mentioned or something similar :j
Advert page 73, 77 and 89
BORED of non stitchy adverts
Vision at sunset
not for me.
Summer BBQ
I might stitch the food motifs but not the letters.
Furry Tales
Cute
but not sure I will stitch.
Next month
LOVE the London design. That is definitely going to be a must do. Would be nice if they did designs for other major cities/places. Would love one of the Lake District.
Not excited about the free gift - would rather have a kit. Floral fancy appeals but flowers not really my thing so doubt I will stitch.
Mimi the cat cute but stitching the sofa would drive me dotty.
LAST PAGE
Octopus is cute and I think I might have to stitch this :T
Oh I meant to say, I was talking about my sealed pot the other day. Well I opened it on Saturday! a mere six months too early BUT have decided (I think) to save monies for six months (jan to june) to put towards holiday and after holiday until december for xmas. I banked £260.00 today :T
I didn't manage any stitching yesterdayand none so far today. Trying to sort out threads for the free country companions hedgehog on the bus this morning wasn't my best idea :rotfl: I feel in a strange mood this evening and feel I need to do some stitching to right myself. Work was its usual Monday cheeriness and I got home to find out that someone who I don't even know has died (but I kind of know the people affected by it). Its made me sad and I even shed a tear. My job can be quite pressurized at times (I only work in an office as a typist/secretary) and it is at times like these when I get news like I heard this evening that work and time constraints that get imposed on you by customers/bosses and the like are really not important.
Anyhow sorry to warble on and be sad. I will feel better no doubt after I have snuck some stitching in and had a good nights sleep.0 -
Aneres Lovely, great update.
Subtle-mix thanks for the link. I havnt ordered any linen yet I want to check what size I need first.
AM really cute
Flat Eric I dont know about the besides the sea kit, but the bobbins I have. I think that I got them from Hobbycraft.
What a lovely card Louise. I love the coaster and the card. So cute. Congrats on becoming an aunty, but ouch  Hope your mum is ok.
Ailsb your wedding and the frogs look great framed.
FOS I have been tempted by the SAL, but I have never done one before so I dont know much about it and I dont know how much it will cost all in all. I am also not really a fairy person.I think that this is going to be a fairy design.
Right, I need to get back to stitching now. I havent done any all week.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

WOXS Issue 192 arrived today :j
I've added my comments below - in general not a lot that I'm interested in.
Free Gift: 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' card - nice enough if you like flowers/butterflies - agree but can't see me stitching it
Master at Work - Adorable, as most Margaret Sherry designs are. I woudl love to stitch it but it has THAT backstitch which doesn't follow the holes. That's enough to cross it off my listAgain can't see me ever getting round to stiching this and have no one to stitch it for
Beautiful Blossom - Bouquet of Flowers...say no more....:o Don't do flowers
Pg 25 advertising - have spotted a lovely 'Sam and Peeps' design - On Top of the World which is sweet. I do like when you can just buy the chart instead of a full kit, so that's a bonus
Jungle Stories - Cute, but not really for me. Might be nice to keep for future use bibs etc.
Down By the River - I really like scenic designs as I think they ake lovely gifts so this could be a stitching possibility for me. I love the subtle shades and it looks peaceful. Not for me - I don't do scenes. Wondering what I actually do do!!!
Xtra - Fly a Kite - a decent extra chart for a change but I won't stitch it. Ditto
Design Library - Idyllic Escapes - some lovely card ideas in theregood to keep in case anyone moves house.
Forest Friends - So Cute!! Quite like the mouse on the toadstool, could make a nice card. Wouldn't stitch the whole thing.
Cupcake of the month - Weird Agreed - it's not nice, don't know why they are doing these.
Love & Cherish - sweet card designs, some could make good last minute stitches They're ok for a last minute card.
Floral Purses - No likeyI quite like these but would never make them.
Vision at Sunset - Gorgeous, could make the list for a dolphin loving friend Again I like this but can't see myself ever getting round to stitching it
BBQ Alphabet - Can't see me doing any of those. These don't appeal to me at all - although I suppose could make a nice inital design on an apron for a BBQ fanatic.
Furry Tales - Nah Not for me
Next month there is a fantastic London Design for the patriotic people among you, it has all the landmarks and is really eye catching
I also like the look of the London design in next months magazine. My mum would have liked the sweet pea design but can't see myself ever stitching it.
Anyway have just donw about 40 minutes on "A good marriage" whilst I waited for my son to come out of orchestra. Off to do tea now then a bit more stitching whilst hubby is away. I look forward to Monday nights so that I can get some of this stitched. Hopefully with update with a picture later or tomorrow.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

just reading and kinda running as I'm shattered and can only remember bits of what was said.
Soulie hugs for the funeral (hope it all goes well)....sorry if it's ages away like I put I am remembering bits.
flat eric fantastic sum to back, well done.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Well I've sorted the threads for the free WOXS kit. There are not many of them.... And it's a good job I've read the instructions because I thought I was missing some green thread but I'm not, one symbol is for 2 strands of green and the other symbol is for 1 strand of (the same) green. Hmmmm
I'm not using the aida supplied, as it's got the needle imprint in it and also there was a speck of ?dirt which hasn't come away completely. I've decided to use some cream aids and like the idea of sticking with the bookmark rather than the alternative suggestion of a card.
Sadly no stitching. Can't stop sneezing. Snotty nose and stitching sadly don't mix0
