there a lovely chart only called deer at dusk has anyone on here done that and if so how hard/time consuming is it please?

    Ohhh - I love it!:j

It seems complicated at first, but looking at the size, I reckon if you took it one page at a time it would come together easily

My only reservation would be, with it being a computer generated chart, I would have preferred to see a completed stitched picture instead of the original one

morning everyone... need advice. Has anyone tried to mount a piece of cross stitch onto a shiny hardback notebook. I brought some A6 notebooks for exchanges and have washed my summer exchange piece but have no idea how to do it... eek. I imagine it is easy but google seems to show up those that have made a fabric cover first. Still very new to this creative stuff so any tips/ideas/links etc appreciated. i am waiting on ebay to deliver some double sided tape but not sure if that is suitable. feeling very special right now, lol

    thanks

Hmmm...it's not something I have done, but you could just use double sided tape and stick it straight on, it would work.

The alternative solution isn't what others would probably do but if it were me I would want it to last longer (and stay clean) so I would back the piece with iron on interfacing (makes it stiffer) then I would laminate it, trim it and use double sided sticky tape to stick that to the front.

Actully it's a bit disappointing as a shop as they are primarily mail order and trade suppliers. I expected to be able to browse and stroke all the wonderful fabrics but not many were on display - you had to ask for what you wanted. The website on the other hand ..................

Thanks you - I'm off work this week and was thinking of having a drive over (it's about an hour away), think I will stick to their website. I did think it odd that they don't open Saturday, almost like they don't want people dropping in to buy things!

WOXS Issue 192 arrived today :j

Free Gift: 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' card - nice enough if you like flowers/butterflies

Master at Work - Adorable, as most Margaret Sherry designs are. I woudl love to stitch it but it has THAT backstitch which doesn't follow the holes. That's enough to cross it off my list :(

Beautiful Blossom - Bouquet of Flowers...say no more....:o

Pg 25 advertising - have spotted a lovely 'Sam and Peeps' design - On Top of the World which is sweet. I do like when you can just buy the chart instead of a full kit, so that's a bonus :D

Jungle Stories - Cute, but not really for me

Down By the River - I really like scenic designs as I think they ake lovely gifts so this could be a stitching possibility for me. I love the subtle shades and it looks peaceful

Xtra - Fly a Kite - a decent extra chart for a change but I won't stitch it

Design Library - Idyllic Escapes - some lovely card ideas in there :)

    Forest Friends - So Cute!!

Cupcake of the month - Weird

Love & Cherish - sweet card designs, some could make good last minute stitches

Floral Purses - No likey :p

Vision at Sunset - Gorgeous, could make the list for a dolphin loving friend

BBQ Alphabet - Can't see me doing any of those

    Furry Tales - Nah

Next month there is a fantastic London Design for the patriotic people among you, it has all the landmarks and is really eye catching :D

  • Havent you all been busy over the last couple of days. I will have a read up later, or tomorrow. I have just got in from work and I am shattered to say the least. It has been a very busy day.

Passione Ricamo's new 1 year mystery Fairy SAL is open for registration until the end of this month! More info here
    If anyone is interested. :)

    Is anyone tempted by this?

this is the butterfly kit I was talking about!

I've got that kit stitched up with my initial in a lovely glass paperweight. It isn't in my Flickr photos as I didn't stitch it myself. It was a birthday card stitched and sent to me as part of an exchange years ago. I liked it so much that I took it out of the card and mounted it in the paperweight. It is lovely.
  • Just having a tea break so time to catch up with some more messages.

Keiss - I remember that Made in Britain sampler - very cute. It is amazing how quickly new mothers and babies are sent home these days (well it is to me as I had to fight to get out after 5 days when the norm was 7). Mind you that was when dinosaurs roamed the earth :D Would love to see the quilt. And you are right - Black Sheep Wools is a very dangerous place to be near - well dangerous for the bank balance anyway.

nmm - awesome link to lots and lots of inventory pages for threads etc. Loved this article on "creating order out of chaos" relating to stitchy stash. OK some of the terminology is very American but it still makes sense to a UK reader

Soulie - sorry to hear about your uncle and that you haven't been well yourself. Dalek is looking amazing

Ailsb - you were really unlucky with your holiday; hope your Dad is on the mend. Both projects are looking good
