wow 10lb+ - OUCHHHHHHHHHH. hope your mums ok.
made a start on dinosaurs last night - am praying they have been generous with material as it's cut wonky and I KNOW i'm at least 5 squares off the centre as for some reason I always decide the '10' mark is the centre regardless of it actually is or not so grid from that point (if that makes sense).loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Lancs lady – I'm using one of those HB boxes with the rounded bottoms atm and I find the compartments a bit too spacious sideways if you know what I mean. I got this one to replace a smaller one that I have had for many years – but it still does the job though. Hope this makes you feel a bit better.
Soulie – sorry to hear your bad news. Great progress with eagle. Looking forward to next update.
Chicky – hope you manage to get sorted with Child Tax Credit – can be a bit of a nightmare. PP is coming along nicely. Enjoy your trip next week.
Flat Eric – thanks for the link to DMC Club. Got registered and had a very quick look at the free charts – very good I think.
Aneres – Great progress there. Had a peep at your new arrival from China and I love it. Checked out sellers other stuff and I love a few of them – most of the them were similar to the one you got and I am sorely tempted. At first I thought they were expensive but them I looked to see how big and are and changed my mind although the cost framing might be a 'bit' pricey. I haven't personally ordered anything from foreign parts and although I am a little wary, I suppose you always have come back with ebay. Looking forward to your next update.
AM – Love Teddy pic – he's really cute.
Louise - love your pics. Hope Mum makes good progress and gets the results you are all hoping for. Congratulations to you all on the safe arrival of your new niece to your family. 10lbs 9oz ouch
Subtle-minx – sorry cant help with cats chart.
Aislb – love MP Wedding Sampler and frogs.
Started typing this post early today whilst trying to catch up with you all. Have finished the little 'Home Sweet Home' kit but haven't managed to make it up yet and photograph it so I will try and do that tomorrow.
Don't think I will start to stitch anything new as we are going away to Chester for a couple of days next week and I have just got a book from the library Joanne Harris 'Peaches for Monsieur le Cure' – first one for a very long while (most of my reading these days involves MSE). I did read Chocolat and the new one is a follow on I believe. I will try and keep up to date will all your posts though.
Sorry for the long rambling post but I did have a lot to catch up on. Will try to post pic tomorrow.
Take care everyone

Thanks for the info. I might take a couple of bobbins into HB tomorrow to see how I find the fit!
Thanks also for the heads up on the Joanne Harris book. I'm not a huge reader, I'm too slow and am forever flicking back to remind myself. But I LOVE Joanne Harris, well her French books, I've not read any of her horror/gothic. I read Blackberry Wine first, loved it, I vastly prefer Chocolat the book to the film, but Holy Fools was my favourite. Enjoy the book, and enjoy ChesterRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -

Over the years I have read Blackberry Wine, Five Quarters of the Orange, Holy Fools, Lollipop Shoes, BlueEyedBoy by Joanne Harris and really enjoyed them all. A friend and I went to see Chocolat at cinema (she had read the book too) and we were both really disappointed. I think when I first got the book I was attracted by the title rather that the subject (thought it might be pretty hard going) but was totally wrong. Haven't told friend I'm reading her new book and hopefully when its her birthday later in the year it will be out in paperback by then (pressie sorted).
Back on topic - pressed Home Sweet Home ready to make it up later and will post a piccie later (fingers crossed).
Have a good day everyone.

Re-stashed my stash today - I seriously don't need anymore for a few years so going to spend my summer (7 weeks of school to go) doing mostly stitchy things :j
Plan to get the sewing machine out and start some 'real' sewing too and get dd involved - does anyone know any good books/patterns/websites to start us off on simple stuff?
Have you looked at The Sewing Room thread? There are 2 versions - one is just links (no chat). Both are very helpful and inspiring and seem to have a great range of stitchers across all levels of experience and ability

Actully it's a bit disappointing as a shop as they are primarily mail order and trade suppliers. I expected to be able to browse and stroke all the wonderful fabrics but not many were on display - you had to ask for what you wanted. The website on the other hand ..................0 -
Not much free time last week or last weekend so have got lots to catch up with - you have all been busy as well as chatty :A
JCS1 - a belated welcome from me to the group; your cats are fabulous and will look absolutely stunning when framed
catwoman - what a great reward for clearing up - finding a bag of DMC
augustsmummy - Fizzy Moon is really cute; I loved watching your progress as I caught up with the thread. Great that the amount of work has been recognised (so often not the case with non stitchers)
sweetcarer - sorry I don't have that JE book - it's a very apt design for an anniversary
subtle minx - I predict that this won't be your last piece of hand dyed fabric - it becomes addictive; sometimes I think I am a collector of these fabrics rather than a user :rotfl:
nmm sorry to hear about your finger; great news re doggie - love the photo. Sounds like your vet is better than your GP!
Louise - Circe is looking stunning; that fabric really adds to the impact
chicky - sorry I can't help with The Hungry Caterpillar charts; I have seen the designs on fabric but not as charts. Well done on winning the comp - I would have chosen the dinosaur alphabet as well. I love the way they have used the birth samplers on book and storage box covers.
skoobie - if you do still want the Cross Stitch Collection with the butterfly fairy you can buy back issues for the cover price (no postage charge) from the publisher. http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/stitch-craft/cross-stitch-collection-magazine-back-issues/ If you use Quidco you can get cashback as well :money:
mrs mp - your customised Lily's card worked out really well. I saw the photo of the Diamond Jubilee design on a T shirt - it looked fab
lancs lady - love your Moshi Monster. Do keep going with Winter Angel - you know you will love it when it is finished
Cross Stitcher - I am clearly in a minority as I like the new format. However I was annoyed about the bookmark kit as I planned to stitch it and I don't think I have any 16 aida as I don't usually stitch on aida. It would have to be 32 count linen I suppose. I emailed them as a subscriber and received an automated response so I know they got it but I haven't had an actual response. I was annoyed last year because I got a letter saying that the cost of my direct debit was going up but "it was still the best value". Well it wasn't so I cancelled the D/D and paid for 2 years by credit card via a cashback site which worked out much cheaper.
rubyrara - welcome to the group; hope to see some of your stitching progress soon.
Will have to leave it there and come back later to catch up on more posts.
Hope everyone has a good day0
