afternoon all
Ailsb. A Good Marriage is coming along nicely. DH was looking over my shoulder last nigt and asked what i was looking at, i told him you were doing it for your wedding anni and read some of the lines out to him. he said people should get one at wedding as an instruction list.
Skoobie. Hope you sort things with your sister and I hope FIL to be is ok. ive never been a bridesmaid so tell your sister you have at least two people (i know ruth said the same) who would be honoured to wear the dress and be picked as BMs;)
Catwoman. Nice progress on Angel and dragon, both looking really nice
i spent most of yesterday stitching, have done the morning glory and balloon complete with back stitch and started on the lily.
mum was telling me hospital did bro a beautiful picture of both twins together and they airbrushed all the tubes and pipes off poorly one so he has a photo of them both looking natural and well - really one to treasure (god ive filled up just writing that.)
hope all are wellSPC~12 ot 124

I think the dress is lovely and the style and colour look great. For my besties wedding I had to wear a dress brought on ebay from china. it was too big in the chest area and dark green. Also had to wear 4 inch gold heels (it could have been worse) I can barely tolerate 2 inch heels and proceeded to waddle down the aisle, lol.
Catwoman. Nice progress on Angel and dragon, both looking really nice - Good progress , great to see the dragon coming out more

*big hugs as needed*
In news still trying to figure out how to mount my sandcastle on to a book or in a frame...hmmm. and OH has said if can wait till crimble he'll buy me a full set of DMC-feeling very lucky and spoilt.

SkOObie - love the colour of your Bridesmaid Dress, as long as it's not as short as the picture I wouldn't have aproblem with it. When my niece was bridesmaid the other week she didn't like her dress and hated the sandles but got on with it saying she would get her own back when she's a bride:D Hope your future FIL is okay.
Catwoman - your 2 designs are coming along really well.
MrsMP - it's great that the hospital have taken the time to do this. I have to say that your comment about welling up made me do the same.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Aislb - love Marriage sampler
sk00bie - hope all goes well for your f-i-l and that you manage to work out the stuff with your sis. Btw I think the dress is gorgeous and if she had something specific in mind she should have made this known to you at the start and you could have worked something out together. Feel free to keep us up to date with all your arrangements - we love it. Those bobbins are lovely - seems a shame to cover them up with thread.
catwoman - great progress on Angel and Dragon. Looking forward to your next updates.
Mrs. M - looking forward to seeing the balloon/flower update. You are sooo clever. Hope it wont be too long before both babies are together at home........ slopes of to wipe eyes.

Ooh thank you. I'll have to read up on how to do that...another new skill.0 -
Thanks FOS & Louise
My sister hasn't given a specific reason to not like it, she says she feels uncomfortable as it's not something she would choose, whatever that means. She also says it's unflattering and mumsy
Before I bought them I really did have a think about reasons they may not like it, i.e. too short, too low cut etc and I really didn't think they would find any! OK it might not be what they choose for themselves but it's not anything too outrageous!
Funny you should mention about her helping, I did ask what kind of thing they each would like and only got 'it's your decision'!!
But I think she's objecting to me going ahead and purchasing it without consulting her and this is her way of showing it! I suppose I'm hurt because I would wear anything she asked me to, it's only for a few hours after all
For info this is the dress
I've also decided I need a thread cutter
Anyway back to looking for bobbins!
Ohhhh I love that dress - too bad I am a 22 and can't be another one of your brides maids! Could easily be used afterwards for parties (gawd I sound old!)
Here is the thread cutter I have used on flights and I have even got one in my work where I am not allowed scissors

You just made me cry
Only on quickly - got some homework to do - changing a pdf file to a excel file. Got a question though. Where do you find cards to put stitching in - I have only small ones but need a bigger one with an aperture of approx 155mm x 150mm. Either in cream or white.
Keep well where ever you are in the world
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Just having a quick catch up.
Soulie - hope the funeral went ok, and that it brought some peace to the family to say their goodbyes.
Mrs Moneypenny - thinking of the twins, so pleased that the hospital have done that photo for you all
Louise - congratulations on being an auntie! I still remember when my eldest nephew was born and it was love at first cuddle! Though he's now 16 and about a foot taller than me
Sk00bie - hope your OH's father is doing well in hospital. Surely this should make your sister have some perspective on the dress situation and go along with your choice - you have enough to worry about with FIL- to-be rather than dealing with her.
Apologies if I have missed anyone, I must try and post more often as this thread moves so quickly.
Loving the updates and pics. I started my new big project at the weekend so not much to show yet, but after the numerous colour changes in the 2 cats, I went for something which should be quicker to stitch and went for this:

I loveeee the colour and cut of the dress. Not keen on the top decoration (but that's just me and I'd never be rude enough to say anything to your face)
If she was given the chance to put forward suggestions and didn't tough !!!!!!.
Can they go back and go on a girly shop to get new ones??
I had no say at all over what my bridesmaids wore..... you know it's not like it was my wedding or anything. :mad:When you wash and iron a piece how do you do the ironing bit? Do you iron it on the back with a tea towel on top and no steam? I have never ironed a piece before and really don't want to mess it up
I wash mine in the sink in soapy water (either soap flakes or washing up liquid).
dry on the radiator (we don't have an airing cupboard).
iron on its back with a t-towel between iron and threads.
Mrs M that was soooo lovely of the hospital to do that how thoughtful.sweetcarer wrote: »Only on quickly - got some homework to do - changing a pdf file to a excel file. Got a question though. If i have anything to big for my aperutre cards I either:
a) pinking shear the outsides then put on the front of a normal card.
b) fray the edges deliberatly then mount on the front
c) make an aperture by cutting up another bit of card and stick it over the top once stuck on.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

How about these:
125 x 125 aperture
119 x 199 aperture
If you can't get them to work, I'd do as Chicky suggests and either cut my own aperture of mount the design on the front of a plain card.
