Hello..
I hope you don't mind me joining you all?!
I was just hoping you might be able to give me some advice? I don't really know many cross stitchers to ask!
I usually do cross stitch kits but last week bought my first ever pattern and a few of the threads to get me started.. how do you sort your threads out? Do you cut them in to lengths to start with? and then how do you stop them getting tangled? Usually when I do a kit they come in lengths on a card all marked up etc in the first place! Is this the easiest way to do it?
Sorry for jumping in with questions straight away!!0 -
Well, after all the hassle with the wrong size fabric, I'm not sure I like the bookmark :rotfl:I'll make it up, but it might make it's way on to the craft stall at the chuch flower festival next month.
Cross Stitcher not bothered to respond to comments on facebook, or my email.
Hope everyone had a good Monday, no sewing for me today, ironing is calling me.....
Wow that looks much better than it was shown in the magazine !
Oh and how very rude of Cross Stitcher0 -

I'd certainly be interested depending on when it is - haven't been to Ambleside since a 6th year Geography field trip (stayed in the Youth Hotel) We went potholing, looked at features of glaciation....and sneaked out to get drunk at night. I tend to use bobbin cards, a winder and then a small thread box to keep everything in (your local craft shop or ebay). Mark the DMC (or whatever brand) number on the card so you know which is which.
I'm sure other people will have other methods too, it's whatever works best for you.0 -
Like the trip to Lakes idea... but its a bit far away for me (I don't drive
) (well I do, I just haven't driven in quite a while and will probably need some refresher lessons first and well the lakes, I think that would be a bit beyond my driving capabilities).
Anyhow non stitchy question (sorry) but some of you may have seen that I posted a spreadsheet question yesterday. I've sorted this for now by doing things a bit differently. In the meantime - my simple question is - when I record my daily spends, should I display them like a bank statement (i.e. oldest at the bottom) or start with oldest at the top and newer spends at the very bottom meaning when I need to add a new spend, I simply go to the last row?? I can't decide which way is best?0 -

i was discussing it with sweetcarer - we kinda need to do out of season somewhere to keep costs minimal. but i am on an expensive (son's 4th birthday) away this november so that kinda rules out the end of the year for me if i'm paying train fare and hotel costs. then we should be away march/ april which would rule out early next year.
so concluded november 2013.
Ok November 2013 it is, was just double checking
Flat Eric where abouts are you? I'd be happy to drive people from the London area, if you are anywhere in the South and could get to near me I could pick you up from a station. Same for anyone else near-ish to London

No problem, welcome to the Cafe
I use these bags from Sew and Sew to store threads. I leave the skein in the paper tabs it comes in and just pull out about 18 inches at a time. If you pull on the end that is obviously sticking out, the thread comes out easily. HTH!
I hope those who have written/facebooked Cross stitcher get a reply eventually, that's so rude of them not to respond. Companies are usually quick to answer queries on social networking sites as so many people can see the comments. Have you tried using Twitter? (If they are on there that it!) I've heard other people have gotten good responses from other companies on there.Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -

Sounds good to me, plenty of time to save.
I doubt I'll have a licence by then, so would definitely appreciate a lift from london, obviously we can all share petrol/costs etc.
Also glad puppy looks all healthy and happy!
Circe is really coming along
'Read me' bookmark looks cool. like the colours.
sorry but couldn't remember who said what :P

we could meet around london area if it's easier (but then i'm thinking thats a verrryyy long trek for those north of the border.
apparently knutsford (cheshire) is the half way point between cornwall and scotland.
lovely of you to offer lifts sk00bie.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

No worries ChickyI don't mind driving far as long as we stay at least a weekend, in fact I quite enjoy it :rotfl: (Does that make me strange?) It definately makes sense to meet somewhere vaguely in the middle, and I'd love to visit Ambleside/the Lakedistrict again. (fingers crossed :P )
Anyway must get to bed, got to be up at six :eek:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Gosh u were chatty last night!
I was out at roller derby practice, and the hire car was ready an hour earlier (when I got there!) so I didn't get my planned stitching first thing either!
Chicky - well done on your win! What comp was it? I think the dinosaurs was a good choice for you, with your boys. Personally I'd have gone for either Birthday Peanut or this one, too cute! http://www.littlestarstitches.com/Apple-Picking.phpRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
