OFF TOPIC Have never heard of Peter James but then last night I noticed that the book of the week ie half price at WHSmith is one of his (not the one you mention here). You can return Kindle books within a certain time frame - I'm not sure what the limit is. The 50p would bug me too.

I'm still bugged about it :rotfl: but in the grand scheme of things, its not important. I am intrigued though because I know about that kindle return of books option and think you have seven days to do this. So what happens if you read a book in its entirety - can you opt to return it within the 7 days and get your money back ? I'm guessing they have something in place that *knows* you have read the book and declines the refund. I suppose I wouldn't be complaining if I bought it for 99p and then it increased in price the same day to £8 plus. Its stange because I still waste/bin food (so money down the drain) yet think nothing of this (well I do but I don't worry about it) yet I'm still checking the price of this book every time I log on to see if its got any cheaper :rotfl:

Sorry this is not cross stitch themed. Sadly, afternoon at the theatre and shopping preceding that means no stitcy time today and looking unlikely for tomorrow too then its back to work :( but no plans yet for next weekend so think I might have to dedicate that stitchy time :j

Not much stitching done this afternoon. I have done a little bit of clearing up and found a bag of DMC skeins :j :j
There was a lot of different colours in the bag. I cant remember why I have got them and why those colours. Maybe I wanted to start a new project a while ago, but not got round to it. :rotfl:
So I have spent all afternoon winding them up on bobbins. I now have a full big storage box of different colours. :j

I don't remember a petes pantry but will look out for it next time we go. We spent a week in the Lakes in October 2010 and on the Thursday evening before our departure on the Saturday partook of the Ambleside hospitality :rotfl: thus a decent breakfast was needed the next day :rotfl:and Daisys was shut  so we found another cafe which served us the much needed breakfast fare. :T I'm not sure if this was Pete's pantry or not? Did you ever visit Lucy's on a Plate ???

In yet more non stitchy news, (sorry) Mr T has just delivered my shopping. Its a sign of the times (and my age!) that the first thing I've done since unpacking is pour myself a glass of tropicana ruby breakfast juice instead of a glass of wine!

pete's has no seating - it's tinyyy. it's tucked away up and to the right of the tourist information. Actually never went to Daisy's or Lucy's on the 3 years i was there. And the first time I had pizza in the restaurant next to the cinema (name escapes me) was when we returned for our aniversary in 2009 (or was it 10?).

If you ever stray to Hawkshead that was my 2nd home as it's where hubby lived/ worked.

(sorry for off topic everyone....ohh perhaps we should plan a lake district stitchy retreat - out of season of course)

A retreat sounds a fantastic idea Chicky!
Right off to watch some rubbish TV as they had the audacity to move Casualty to last night and as [STRIKE]I am inpatient and can't wait for anything ever[/STRIKE] there was nothing better on I watched it last night.

I know its short notice but does anyone have a copy of this I can borrow - it is from Joan Elliott's "wit and wisdom" book. I was thinking of doing it for our anniversary - but it is in July.

    Thank you,

    sweetcarer ;)
