Just doing some admin on our Flickr group and we have 49 members and 395 photos!

Come on - we must be able to drum up another five photos from somewhere to make it a round 400?

Have you posted something cross-stitchy to your Flickr photostream but not put it in our group? If so - go to your picture and under the "Actions" drop down menu you'll find an "Add to / Remove from group" option. From there you can search for us and add your shot.

If you're a cafe member but you're not on Flickr or in our group then get to it! (It's free!)

Here you go Linky the site is safe i bought my r&r frame from there :)

I've also bought from this site and the delivery was quick and the prices are very reasonable. I also love their range of linen bands and Rico hangers. Did a bit of shopping there but so far have not checked out (trying to be good:D)
  • 23rd spiral Hope thinks begin to improve for you soon; the Roller Derby sounds fun (apart from the fall of course)

    dorastar
    - good to hear DS is making progress; good luck with Welsh Chapel - sounds like you have a plan

chicky -hope your arm is recovering

mags cat Tenby looks stunnng and well worth paying to have it framed after all your hard work; how lucky you are to have just a great framer locally; most of the ones I have used over the years have closed down:( I've added some photos to the group Flickr account - the pieces I have finished since joining this group and my current WiP. Sorry but this took it over the 400 so not a nice round number :D Loved looking at all the work displayed there.

emma123 - interesting comments about Gorjuss. I haven't stitched any of them myself though have been tempted. However am worried about my SiL - she bought the Ruby kit a while ago and I helped her start it. I did say at the time I wasn't sure it was the best choice for a beginner (it was mid grey aida rather than white for a start). I haven't seen her recently to know how she has been getting on. I do hope it hasn't put her off

sweetcarer - both projects are looking great; hope you are enjoying your weekend

Louise - I wouldn't like to face your framing bill either but surely you don't have to do them all at the same time:eek: But they do deserve to be on display. Have you considered fabric frames for any of them or making them into cushions? It can be cheaper

victoriajj would love to see your framed version of Noah's Ark

flateric - hope you can enjoy your holiday without worrying about work

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the holiday weekend
  • Thanks for sharing your comments on CSC - I always find these interesting; I've added my views next to yours.

Morning all from a very rainy Derbyshire.

Managed a few stitches on my Home Sweet Home sampler last night but too tired to concentrate so I put it down.

My sub copy of Cross Stitch Crazy came yesterday but as with WOCS, I am a bit disappointed. Here's a list of the projects if you are interested:

Free Best of summer chart book - might be able to use some designs for the keyrings I have been making lately and there seems to be some smaller designs for cards
I really liked these designs and think they will be useful

Almond Blossom Fairy - again, not for me but I know a lot of people love the fairy designs
I have stitched Flower Fairies and like them but haven't got a reason to stitch this one at the moment; I do like the colours though

    Celebrity stitch - Jessie J - I don't think so!!
    Ditto

50 folk art gift ideas - smaller designs for cards/coasters etc
A couple of designs I liked but not many

Elliot & Buttons - cute but I just know I will never get round to stitching it
    Ditto

Julia Rigby motto cards - definitely not my cup of tea
Ditto - I really don't care for this type of cartoon design where the backstitch overlaps the XS

Crazy for tropical fish - no!!
    Ditto

Lesley Teare's Peacock designs - again not for me
I like peacocks but have seen far nicer designs than this one

Meerkat alphabet - definitely not for me
can't see the attraction of these animals at all

Maria Diaz's Vintage Charm designs - the only thing really that appealed to me
I agree; the sewing machine would be lovely for a needlecase or scissors fob and all of the others would make great cards, coasters or notebook covers

GLow-in-the-dark kids mobile - again no
Didn't care for these at all

I did quite like the 2 subsriber extra charts

Really not impressed that 5 full pages are devoted to ads that have nothing to do with cross stitch. I would rather have a magazine that was 4 pages thinner ( I could tolerate one page of something crafty such as the Soap Kitchen)

Next issue - Margaret Sherry chart booklet, Country Companions design, back to school stationery, home sweet hoe picture.

Sorry if this doesn't help anyone but I think I will either sell this mag on or shred it for charts. So many charts to list on fleabay - must stop buying them really.

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone

    Emma

Gosh no, I would need to be a millionaire...and the wee framer man might have a heart attack when I turned up with so many:rotfl:

I usually intend to put one in every month for framing, but a combination of lack of time to get there and the £20-£40 that I put aside usually being swallowed up by some other bill means I never get round to it :( Unless of course it's a gift for someone, then it NEEDS to get done.

I have a bag in the attic with 15 cushions in it - I used to like making cushions but with little kids about it can be such a waste of money if they get ruined. DD has 4 cushions in her room.

Anyway, Circe has been put aside for a couple of days - I was at me niece's ballet show the other night, and found a lovely ballet frame the next day so I'm quickly stitchign up the silhouette I bought last month. I was looking forward to it until I started and thought 'there's never going to be enough room on this fabric'....then I read the small print - it's 1 over 1 on 28ct evenweave

Not liking it so much now....:o

please can someone post a pic of the glow in the dark pages from CSC when they get a min. Have tried googling but no luck and would rather buy the mag at shop price if i need it then wait until it is sold out and have to pay fleabay prices.

    cheers.

I wouldn't like it either. Although I am a huge fan of evenweave I don't enjoy stitching on it over 1. Linen is better if it is the stiff linen. Can you swap the fabric for a bigger piece or will it then be too big for the frame?
