No cross stitch today (yet). I expect I shall do some while watching the Apprentice Final.... (I think this is the interview episode and I always get bored.
I have been updating my money spreadsheet this afternoon. It occurred to me before I went out this morning that I want to track my money as close as I can so that what it says in my bank matches what it says in the spreadsheet but on reflection I don't want to overcomplicate things and how do you allow for the random spends we make - for example the pasty and bottle of drink I bought today? I just handed over a note and pocketed the change. I didn't pay any attention to how much it cost (well I did - I just can't remember now) and although I bought a new cash book, I feel it is going to be impossible to track every single spend. What do you do/what would you suggest? Sorry its not cross stitch related - I hope you don't mind.0 -
I always write on my spreadsheet when I withdraw cash from the bank - so I keep it up to date (the bank statement is always playing catch up).
When I was learning to keep control of my money I also listed each cash withdrawal on the s/s and recorded when I spent cash. I don't anymore, but it was very interesting - lots of wasted money on chocolate and M&S sandwiches! <blush>

23rd my heart goes out to you, i posted on another thread on here that someone upstairs had an evil sense of humor and was seeing how much i could cope with in one go, he/she seems to be pulling the same stunt with you. i hope we both get a break soon
chicky i hope your arm eases soon
hope everyone else is well
Thankyou. And to everyone else. I cried a lot on thursday, partly to do with Direct Line asking me to do something, so I did it, then the next day someone else said they won't accept it so it was a huge waste of time effort and some money. actually cried on the phone at them.. that was the 5th piece of misinformation / lie they told me only for someone else to deny it. I've put in an official complaint, and have called them up on the Disability Discrimination Act.
Hope you're feeling better Mrs M, hugs to everyone' and thanks.
Great progress Sweetcarer!:)
Love Tenby Mags!!:T
Thanks for heads up on Gorjuss charts... Might take 1 off my To Stitch list, dyslexic me cant cope with charts that aren't clear and consistent.
I got brave / frustrated on Monday night and went to a Roller Derby new intake taster session! I'm 31, sizw 18, and not a team player! :rotfl: but it was fab!
Went to the second this morning... Am now on sofa watching the flotilla thing, about to get out the stitching! :j with a hot water bottle on the small of my back (I fell inappropriatly and think I've bruised my coxic (sp)).:( oh well, I've lost weight this week so am not complaining!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. That's what I did last year. V useful.
Flet Eric, have u found the Frugal Living Challenge thread? The spreadsheet in the first post was v useful... Also lots of tips on recording the little spends like putting a fiver in a section of your purse / envelope, so u know when it's spent even if u don't quite know the price of each pasty or whatever!
Good luck, I found it an invaluable exerciseRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0
