:rotfl: nykied, it does look like it doesn't it. No its a baby dragon in blue shades, the seller had it in pink I think but I asked her to do it in blue for me. Below is a picture, I quite like it but have seen a few on HEAD that I would love to attempt... one day!

    Awww, that's lovely! :)
  • hey maria....

ok, this is from when i was a library assistant doing crafts on sundays. Fairy (and wizard ) wands....

    you will need.
    Straws.
An old cereal packet for cardboard.
    tin foil.
    glitter
    glue

small amount of pre children prep. stencil stars or swirls on to the card board, 2 shapes per wand to make. (stars are easier to tesilate and cut out) Cut out.
Tear tin foil into squares the size of stars to glu on if they want shiney silver.
its best to decorate the stars, then (with adult help) glue the two halves together with straw in between.

If you REALLY want if you have old threads from cross stitching that maybe u dont know about what colour they are any more etc these make lovel streames off the points of the star, just punch a hole (adult supervision) and loop not on.

    Tiara:
go to pound land, buy a pack of headbands (the solid kind not fabric) before party spray silver, doesnt have to be spray paint, silver /gold hair spray is cheaper and easier to work with with fewer chemicals.
glue on gems (i buy mine from the works)
hey presto tiara head bands. (i suggest bigger bling for birthday girls ;) ) ALLOW GLUE TO DRY FULLY BEFORE WEARING OF PARENTS WILL COME AFTER YOU!

all little girls should dress princess before hand, or if you really like ask the other mums if theres any old things in their wardrobe that they can donate for a dress up chess. little girls alwas want to dress like mum. long gloves alwas seem to win.

I have a million kiddie friendly receipies for princess fairys (and other kid themes) including general party food and make and bake themselves ideas depending on mess allowance.

let me know if u need anyother ideas/help/clarificatoon

in fact the amount of kids "distractions" i have in books in astounding seeing as i am not acutally a mum, i just help give mums a break. ;)
I Love My Library....when I finish/don't like a book, no one gets upset when I return it!
    Starting 210
    7lbs this month = 5.5
    Total loss = 5.5
    Too many UFOs to count

"Just a quick post to let people know that there is a Creative stitches and hobbycraft show at the new events centre in Bluewater Feb next year for anyone who is interested. Tickets are £6 in advance or £8 on the door."

Is anyone planning on going to this? I'm only 20 minutes from Bluewater so I've booked the Friday off work and ordered tickets for me and DH. He's looking forward to another day of Cross Stitch Craziness as he likes to call it!!

I might be interested! Do you know the date in Feb? and time?

I'm planning on going to this years Stitch & Craft show at Earl's court and was just thinking March seems awfully far away, so this would work as a great stop gap!

I have been making solid progress on Durham cathedral, no pic at the moment tho :( will try and sort myself out and post one. Now I am sat at work wishing I could go home and stitch more, want to get Durham finished and move onto the next project! But lurking here is the next best thing :P

Hope everyone is well today, it's a lovely day outside here at the moment :)

I'm loving stitching Troutbeck now that i've done half a page (well I like stitching it but still not sure I love the design - IYSWIM).
Problem is I have started marking out the bottom half - had to wipe it all off (ohh thats what i ment to say the other day - baby wipes are fab for disolvable pen if you've not yet stitched on it and just want to correct the marks) - did it again .......... and wiped it off. Turns out when i copied my chart to work from it I did it at an angle. so the first few blocks are 10 wide and now I'm half way down I only have 8 wide. This has of course completly offset bits of the top - am now having to 'botch' my way thro to make sure the windows etc lie in line with the top of them and not where they actually should be.

    does that make sense???

Trouble is with my stitchy bug back and Troutbeck to complete in the next month and a bit survey sites have gone out the window. I think I am going to have to earmark 1 evening a week for updating my online diary on here (probably Saturdays), one for surveys (Thursdays are sounding good) and the rest I can stitch. ohh noo where do I fit in my farming and my new found addiction bubble witch saga? Then there are the kids...........................
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

That's extremely helpful, chicky - thank you. I've been wondering how I was going to correct a few misplaced splodges without washing the whole dratted thing :T

Not sure that these are still going - I haven't seen any ads in the magazines for them for a while. But if you want craft books then The Book People usually have some - and if you go to the site via Quidco you can get cashback. AlsoThe Book Depository (now owned by Amazon) is usually cheaper than Amazon.

I don't know of any clubs that offer cross stitch kits but there are at least 3 sites that have monthly clubs for hand dyed fabric which is a particular passion of mine. I can recommend the fabrics from Polstitches, Crafty Kitten and Sparklies and have at various times subscribed to their monthly fabric clubs.

I love hand dyed fabric too. Used to belong to the Polstitches fabric club when Jaynes Attic was still going. Got a wonderful stash of hand dyed evenweave. I love just getting them out & stroking them. Yes, I know how weird that makes me sound!
