Hobbycraft do ready made crowns to decorate wonder if they have wands? I should know the amount of time I spend wandering around in there lol!13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Hi girls,
just a quick visit while I am supposed to be working! I spent 3 nights and most of Saturday trying to wind around 185 threads onto bobbins, fortunately I ran out of the bobbins before it sent me too mad so I am just waiting for some more to be delivered.
Yesterday I started the Winnie the Pooh number sampler I am doing for my sister, I am really enjoying the block colours as most of my more recent projects have been full of confetti stitching. The baby is due in just over 9 weeks so I am not going to get it finished in time, but you never know, maybe by his/her 1st birthday.
One of my good friends had a baby last week and I want to stitch her something quick and spotted the rocking horse here while I was looking at the owl http://www.x-calibredesigns.co.uk/html/blackwork_starter_kits.html (thank you!). I also feel a bit guilty because I never did her 2 boys anything so I am going to do them a blue one each and put their names above and date of birth below.
I am loving all the recent and not so recent stitching. I still can't get over how fast you stitch Louise, no matter how many times you have shown pictures of your progress.
Bye for now

2012- Finish Winnie Pooh Sampler for Nephew
2013 -Finish tiger and cub started in 20000 -
I've stitched the rocking horse, Vickie. It's really sweet.
I finally finished DH's Dragon on Sunday. It was 2 weeks late, but stitching it on evenweave was a lot slower than when I stitched it on aida a few months ago. I have popped it in a frame, but it really needs ironing & framing properly.
I'm itching to start something new, but I've a promise to myself that I won't start any more new kits or charts for 3 months. I did originally think a year, but that sounds too daunting. I'll go for 3 months at a time & hopefully it'll seem easier to stick to. The exception for this will be when I get the Lizzie Kate 'A Good Marriage' as I'll need to finish it for our anniversary in May.
So last night I picked up a huge blackwork design I'm stitching for a friend and did a couple of hours on that. It's so massive that I can barely see any progress.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Is that a hippo?
:rotfl: nykied, it does look like it doesn't it. No its a baby dragon in blue shades, the seller had it in pink I think but I asked her to do it in blue for me. Below is a picture, I quite like it but have seen a few on HEAD that I would love to attempt... one day!0 -
Loving all the progress pics. I'm surprised how many of you seem to start your designs from an outer corner rather than the middle. I have thought of doing this but I just know I would misplace the design and end up running out of material somewhere.

Hiya Emma
Can I just say that I usually try to start in the middle but tend to 'wander off' towards the corner

Wow, some amazing work here!
I just wanted to say thanks for your advice last week on framing my cross stitch - sorry I didn't reply earlier, I forget my password.
Someone at work has recommended a shop that she uses and isn't too dear so I'm going to get it done professionally so I don't ruin it.
Thanks anyway0 -

I have spoken to them on the phone as well as using the website and have never had anything other than good service. They have an offer of a free kit if you spend over a certain amount in January.
Thanks flowerofscotland: good to know someone who has had dealings with them and recommend themI had seen that offer, and am tempted!
Thanks Ruth_honey too for your help
I wanted to work some more on a baby blanket last night, but can't find my crochet hook - either it's in the car somewhere, or I left it at my mums after the holidaysOh well, will look in the car when my daughter is in bed. Have a nice evening all xx

Maria I bought things from here for Emily's Princess Party, they sell paper crowns which they coloured in and stuck acrylic gems on and I also bought plain white paper bags with handles that they decorated to take a piece of cake home in
My Disney Princess stitch is driving me mad with all the confetti so I've packed it away and started this I thought I'd get organised for next ChristmasI'll post a pic when I've stitched more than sky!
