Edit: Louise - thanks for the advice about the marker pen. I keep considering it as I know a lot of you ladies on here really recommend them, but my fear of washing my stitching always stops me going for it. When I was originally on the forum last year I ended up trying to wash a piece for the first time and some stitches pulled out of the aida (I tested it on an old bit, so I didn't wreck anything decent!).

I wonder if its because I don't secure my thread tightly enough? How does everyone else secure the ends? I usually tuck it through the back of the two nearest stitches, perhaps I should do something else.

I just run it through some stitches on the back.Mind you I usually double stitch (does that make sense?) as in I run it under the last stitch twice. Never had anything unravel yet, and I always wash my work.

How are you washing it? I normally just run it under the tap to remove the pen marks, keeping it pretty flat (it never usually need more than that) then lay it on a towel and press to dry before ironing.

It's worth a go. :D I do sometimes end up texting myself a list of stuff to get it off my mind so I imagine that would work in a similar way.

Once the schools start back on Mon I will get back into my routine and it should get better then:)

You laughed :( lol. Think yourself lucky I had to keep a straight face with my GP swearing like a trooper infront of me :rotfl:. He did warn me first to be fair.

    Hope sleep returns soon x

Hi ladies - Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I posted but I have been lurking! I love looking at all your progress posts, but they always make me want to buy those charts and kits too!

    I posted a pic of my santa in May, finally got him framed and gave him to my parents for Christmas. I'll try and get a pic of him framed onto the Flickr but here's a reminder :D;

Recently I've been stitching small ornament and card kits, some my Mum brought me from the US and others I got at the Stitch & Craft show last March. I can't wait until this year's show, is anyone else considering going?

My stitching plan at the moment is to finish my Durham Cathedral scene, as you can see in the post I linked, it's been a UFO for a while :P I'll then move on to another Christmas one most likely!

    Best wishes to all!

Troutbeck is coming along nicely chicky :T

CSandL - love your pic - it looks as though it would have been quite fiddly to do.

    Gorgeous pics flowersofscotland :T

I did a Durham Cathedral pic years ago sk00bie1 - look forward to seeing your progress pic to see if it was the same one. Unfortunately I haven't got any pics of mine - I did it for an uncle and he took it off to Austrailia with him.

My stitchy news is that I have started a John Clayton Tulips kit. DH has said he can't see any tulips yet and I've told him I don't think they have been planted yet :p Will try to post a pic later today.

    Take care everyone

Still haven't got round to the piccie thing, i think having one on here might actually motivate me to finish it.

Good to see fellow Dita supporters:D

flowerofscotland those finished pieces are wonderful, I really should try and make some cushions this year but can't work out my sewing machine *hanging head in shame*:o. But I just can't see the word faith in the tree *hangs head even lower*:o

*louise* I had a similar idea for those sweetie charts. FIL loves his jeallybeans so I am going to make him up a big jar full and stitch the jeallybean design as its label for fathers day.

Dorastar I was looking this morning for designs for and any child square. I really shouldn't have been as once I start looking I get far too distracted:D I think I might have found one of a pink elephant but can't start until I get this Alice piece nearly finished.

    Happy sunday stitching xx

    Hey Everyone,

YEs I am still reading 2011 and now I'm told there are 2 PARTS!!!!!!!!!! Its just as well I have nothing better to do!! Ha ha.
You all have stitched some wonderful designs, my list of ohhh I must do that is about 6 years long now.
I am attempting to do some left handed stitching holding the hoop between my chest and knee my right arm is not moving at the minute so this is my only option but it is slow. I am working on a cath kidson flower design which is all block colour, no fractionals, no backstitch, minimal counting just to be doing something, cause reading about you all is making me itch to stitch ha ha.
Hope you all have a productive Sunday

Hi everyone, hope ur having a good Sunday?

I got up hours before my OH so indulged in some stitching whilst watching a How I Met Your Mother and a Dr Quinn. Yup, my TV tastes are random! So I've almost finished a card for mums bday... Today but I won't see her til tues, sadly at uncle georges funeral but hey ho. If I could just find some more of That Green I can finish it!

Love the Lixxie Kate designs, ESP the standard alphabet, love all the positive messages.

Benny, would a lap frame help? *hugs for your perseverance.

Re washable pens, I used one when I did the cut through princess palace, I washed it and framed it and it was fine, but it hangs in the sun and the aida is now covered in pale yellow lines.where the pen was, I can only assume this is where the sun has been on it, but I can't get it to wash out ! It was on there for about 3 months whilst I was stitching it ! X

After reading about your Princess Palace, I've just washed mine. It's had the pen on for a year. Also washed Dictionary Of Cakes which had grid lines marked on it for waaaaay over a year. I think that's the only ones I have with marks on, but I'll check my other UFO's. Might be better to keep the pen for projects on the go that need it and not things that may have to be put aside for months. Thanks for posting about it. Perhaps change where it's hanging so the yellow lines aren't showing so much?
