Speaking of cats stories, I have a great one.
Blossom's mum & her 3 brothers/sisters have been rescued from the church cellar and have gone to a new home. Mum & I spent many hours trying to coax them out and by yesterday lunchtime my hallway was filled with lovely furry creatures. I have photos, but not uploaded to photobucket yet. We called the mum Millie, and the babies are Pip, Moomin & Lottie (mum named them-mostly after my Grandma as the kittens were probably born around Grandma's birthday)
I am soooo exhausted. The past couple of weeks have been very draining. All good, though!I do miss stitching, mind. Will try and get some done tomorrow. Wonder if I remember how to hold a needle???

I got som stitching done this evening!!! :j Haven't done any since last Wednesday, I have been so busy
DD was up at 2am last night throwing up - at least ten times from then till lunchtime so neither of us got much sleep. She is btter now but I still need to keep her off nursery school tomorrow, have to wait 48 hours after the last bout before they will let the children go back (Doesn't seem to stop her ctching it there though, that's a couple of nasty bugs this year already!) I'm on edge waiting to see if the boys show any symptoms tonight now..... Ahhh the joys of children :rotfl::rotfl:Does anyone do as much stitching as you can in half stitches before going back and completing the stitch ???
I do this if it's a bit 'fiddly'!
If I can I like to do along and back on each 'row' at a time, otherwise I'll do all the halves one way and then the other for the whole block of colour. If the colours are really broken up I'll do the whole stitch before moving onto the next.
^^I do al of the above...more than one of u means we're normal....right? :rotfl:
I often do full rows of half stitch before going back - I don't give a monkeys about saving thread, I do it for speed. Going back to finish half crosses is a whole section you don't need to check against the chart so you can just zoom through it. :TCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. morning all
havent stitched all week as wantedf to finish my nieces jumper. got a lovely photo off my brother yesterday, they have to keep taking the helathy twin into the hospital to see her 'little' sister so that when eventually she can come home they are sort of bonded and its not a huge shock for the one whos already at home. i hadnt even thought of that happening but ds have warned my brother it could cause jealousy if the one who been settled at home a while suddenly gets upset by the other baby arriving home
(we just pray its sometime soon shes 8months old and still no sign of being well enough to have a home date)
Ds is going on a walk with his school today so i need good weather vibes please
happy stitching allSPC~12 ot 124

Haha glad it's not just me!
Lying in bed last night I was thinking about this... When my Nana and Great Aunts taught me to stitch they told me I shouldn't 'jump' across too many stitches as the thread will show on the front of the fabric (and it wastes thread).
I think the thread thing came from doing some kits and running out of one colour or another. Its more about the most efficient stitching I suppose, but I'm secretly pleased with myself if I can stitch all of a colour in a kit and still have half of it left. (haha I just read that back! I sound like such a nerd :rotfl: )Still working my way through and read this, thought, 'Oooh, I've not looked at the Daily Deal today!', looked and bought it. So thanks for fuelling my spending habit, FE :rotfl:
I've been doing the same since FE reminded us about the daily deal! I'm sure it can be counted as moneysaving... after all the books are cheaper than they would be :money:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
I normally half stitch a row (or more) then go back over the top. The only time I do full stitches at the same time is on confetti stitching.
How much I do at a time tho depends very much on the piece. i.e. last night I did blocks of half stitches (10-15 rows) then went back over them. I like doing it this way as I feel I've accomplished more.
Occasionally I will outline stitch and area (e.g. a flower)then block stitch the inside in half stitches (does that make sense??) then go over it all the other way.
Sometimes I just stitch a row at a time.
didn't get the page finsihed tho as spent a couple of hours talking onlien to my mate making plans to meet in Manchester on Saturday. so no pic. Willl try again tonight.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi everyone, I'm finally back after moving house, have read a little of thread not much unfortunately. I love the work some of you are doing I have totally lost the stitchy bug far too much decorating to do. My HAED has been put away for now, and I did start a Gorjuss piece but don't the energy for it at the moment.
I hope everyone is well, and I will try to get caught up at some point.
Take care all

Hi ladies.
Just catching up as the electric has been off and on intermittently since yesterday at 1pm. When it first went off I thought I'd stitch to pass the time but it was too overcast and dark. Got lots of reading done though!
Louise. Hope your DD is feeling better and no-one else comes down with it.
My usual way of stitching is to do one whole X at a time. Though I will do a row of half stitches then come back to finish the X if I have a 'branch' of stitches go off the area I am working on.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
