Wow so much has happened in the couple of weeks I've been away! I'm trying to catch up with everything that has gone on.
aneres - I'm so glad your kit finally arrived, mine has too! I've been really, really busy these last couple of weeks so this is the first time I've had to post. Mine arrived 2 weeks ago - it was posted on the 15th March!! Makes me feel a bit better about posting the link now - better late than never. I guess your husband was right about it being held at customs!
I've not done much stitching recently, I did a little last night watching BGT so I will post a pic shortly, together with a pic of the kit I got from Hong Kong. I'm itching to start it, but as my "far-too-clever-for-her-own-good" 9 year old daughter said. "If you start that now mummy, you won't finish Winter Angel".
Yes ok, so she's probablyy right. Better get on with some stitching then haha :rotfl:St. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0 -
Here's Winter Angel now - looking rather rumpled and not much further along than last update :rotfl:
And if I do it right, heres the long awaited Pink Flowers kit from Hong Kong :TSt. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0 -
DO NOT READ IF EATING !
So I love my cat, I really do but his recent trick has been to bring live mice into the bedroom in the middle of the night! The last one he brought in - he lost! Thankfully I rescued it as it made its way to freedom down the stairs. :rotfl:
Generally its mice related incidents with my cat including crunching them under the dining table? I mean seriously, I buy you lovely cat food and you go and munch a mouse ??? :rotfl: One even made him sick once and well it was very unpleasant because what had been consumed had not been digested. Total yuk!
I think the most memorable incident was when my OH was away for the weekend and I came back from the shops to find the bedroom curtains in complete disarray. THEN i spotted the LIVE BIRD that was perched on the curtain rail. The bird was HUGE! I have no idea how he got it through the cat flap (despite his age (8), he is just a small cat) . Cue lots of fun and games of me trying to get said bird out of house while cat who had obviously temporarily forgotten about it (and had been sleeping on the sofa when I got in), now couldn't wait to join in the fun and try and catch it again!!!0 -
loving all your cat stories, my cat brought home a rat the other day and left it on the patio, i didnt notice and let my dog and my mums dog who was here at the time out into the garden closed the door looked out of the window and the dogs were throwing it around the patio to each other. gross! also he likes to catch birds and the other day caught and killed a pigeon that was actually bigger than him !
i love that new kit lancs, its stuning
hoping to have finished the bottome half of forest light whilst watching vincent on love film tonight before bed time so i had better get of the computer and get moving13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -

DH went down a couple of times to mow the lawn and found a little pile of mice or fledglings awaiting him. We got rid of that mat as we didnt want the kids finding them.
my worst was popping out to the dustbin one moring and ending up with a decapitated mouse between my toes, that taught me two things
1. never leave the house barefoot
2. always look before you put your foot in it.
morning all
hope everyones finished their breakfast.

Boiler man is here today... Old boiler is on the patio! Think I'll deserve some stitching time this evening. Was going to stitch last night, but OH put Roadhouse on... How have I never seen this film?!? Patrick Swayze, but naked and that old cowboy bloke with the nice southern drawl and hair... Lovely ;0):D:D:D:D - ohhh errr missus
I'm up to page 125 now but I was reading this whilst eating lunch. Peanut butter sandwiches. Crunchy peanut butter
:T classic! - now I feel like a peanut butter sandwich - was the first meal hubby made me when he was still living in the States.
You lot have cheered me up so much - I am just so glad my cat doesn't go outside but she does chase bugs about the house. Goes crazy if its on the ceiling and she begs for you to lift her to reach it. She sometimes catches them and tries to eat them - found out moths can be a bit spicy at times as she spits them out.
Thank you girls - hubby says its good to hear me laugh and he loved all your stories too.
Keep well and happy stitching!

PS Maria how did you go at the doctors?:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -

Hi sweetcareer all fine doctor had only just received report from A&E so were trying to send me for the mri and other tests I had already had! So it was a waste of time really just got to go for a blood test so they can see how low my iron levels are so they know if the iron tablets are working. Thank you for asking x
Finished the bottom half half of autumn reflections wahoo! Not started the top half yet lol, but the bottom is done! Just glad I got my bug back and we won't be moving so she can go were I wanted her to originally.
Hope everyone is having a good evening, kids all went to bed and straight to sleep tonight for the first time in about 3 weeks in stead of playing up till half 9! Feel like I have actually had a break today
Good night

I am back to stitching the bookmark kit. Have got into a bit of a pickle with it though - miscounted the border so had to unpick some of it which drove me potty last night but I think I have it right now. Its only got four colours so bit cross that I am making such a faff of it.
To make things easier for myself, have done a few of the stitches in half stitches so a sort of template to work with and make it easy so I don't have to keep referring to the chart. (useful for when stitching on the bus) Will post a picture at the weekend.
Does anyone do as much stitching as you can in half stitches before going back and completing the stitch ???0 -
Loving all the cat stories! Makes me wish we still had cats
Glad the docs was ok Maria, even if it was slightly a waste of time.Does anyone do as much stitching as you can in half stitches before going back and completing the stitch ???
I do this if it's a bit 'fiddly'!
If I can I like to do along and back on each 'row' at a time, otherwise I'll do all the halves one way and then the other for the whole block of colour. If the colours are really broken up I'll do the whole stitch before moving onto the next.
In practice I think I use a combination of all three methods, this may sound a bit odd, but I look at the stitches and try and work out which way will use the least amount of thread... does that make sense? :rotfl: Perhaps I am over thinking it...
No stitching for me today and not much yesterday either
Must get the monsters finished this weekend, and find a frame for them!!
