    Hi ladies,
Just popping in on my way to bed. Been suffering with insomnia, so frustrating when I feel exhausted all the time not to be able to sleep- argh! Here's hoping I manage to get to sleep soon!

Louise - sorry to hear your LO is unwell, hope they are all better now, and no one else is suffering. School bugs are so frustrating. So far this year DD has been off sick 3 times . First it was a flu bug, then chickenpox and then a sickness bug. Between the chicken pox and the bug she managed just 5 days in school. DD picks up everything, and I am sure it is because parents send their LOs back too soon.
DH said when he dropped DD off on Wednesday the teacher asked another pupils mum if her daughter was all better now, to which the mum replied "Well she is a little better, but she still has a temperature. I am sure she will be fine." - said as she sent said child in to the class room. poor little mite!
I guess we will have that bug to look forward to this weekend!

I have had a quick read through, but you have all been up to so much I forget who did what - sorry :o.
Hugs to all that need them!
And baby Charlie is still in my thoughts, hope he is improving x

I will post an update tomorrow on Newton as have managed a bit more - he has a head now lol.

Night ladies, I am off to attempt to sleep!

Just to let you know I eventually did escape. Didn't get home till 7! They better put me down for extra hours - meant to only work till 4.00 on Friday. Put it to good use tho - got the maintenance sheets done that I usually do on Mondays so have that free up for something else. Total fun and games.

Dad popped by with some cross stitch stuff mum found and wondered if I would like it - it is mine, they found it was found in a drawer in their house (which I used to live in when I was younger). Dad was helping hubby fix our radiator that come off wall. There was an old magazine cross stitcher from 1999, whole bunch of skeins and thread organisers with the said threads on them - so all I need to buy is material (just a fat quarter). Seen some on EB for £5 for 28hpi - anywhere else better?

Hubby says for a fiver I could stretch our budgets to it as I don't buy stuff for myself often. Well here is a picture and I am off to put out washing as it is a lovely day out there.

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

Floral year by Jo Verso (hope photo is ok - not easy to photograph - it is also found in one of her books).

I do if there's lots of 'block' work and not so many different colours. Like the Dalek one.
You can just about see the reddish-brown /// stitches on this picture:

Not done any stitching this week as I have been busy sorting my cross stitch magazines out!
My gosh, it is time consuming lol

I have removed all the charts from the magazines, and I plan to scan them all through to the computer, then I have been listing the original charts for sale on a facebook page I belong to!

So far I have listed 4 magazines worth, with about 50 or so more yet to scan lol before I list them, but you should see the 'junk' that came out of the magazines!!! Enough paper for another 50 magazines worth of charts! Ridiculous! I will have to have a proper count up of how many magazines and take a picture of the 'junk' that was left over after the charts were removed!

I have hundreds (and hundreds) of magazines and I dread to think how much recycling waste I will have when I have sorted through them all. Its just a question of just how brutal I am because there may be designs that I might want to stitch but its striking that fine balance. I know when I did this exercise many many years ago, I started well.. (charts went in pockets/went in folders) but then I ended up with a box with those charts I had taken out but which I hadn't sorted. That was a mistake. I also know there were charts I threw away that now I would probably like so its going to be hard work.

Cross Stitcher dropped through my door yesterday and there was nowt much I wanted to stitch. I have decided that I shall probably (as I receive my subscription copy) take out the charts I like rather than add the mag to the pile.

I will try and post a picture of my snoopy bookmark later.

The plan today is not much. I am looking forward to the BGT final tonight - I plan to stitch while its on because I hate all the faff (adverts etc)

Have a lovely day all x

Thanks fos - unfortunately its not available in UK - the very cheek of it :D. Will keep a look out. Not in too much of a hurry as I've ordered WOXS 5 for £5. Thanks anyway.

Love monsters sk00bie - to me the 'y' looks fine.

I would go for the 7lb 13ozs too Aislb. Hope he is still making good progress.

Sorry about that. Here is a current offer of 3 issues for £5 - not as good but still much better than shop prices

Have been away on a training course for a couple of days - it was very intense with homework and socialising with the other delegates taking up the evenings so no time to stitch/surf etc

Have really enjoyed reading your updates - we can't have cats because DH is allergic to them and reading about the "offerings" I'm glad - I sometimes have to deal with dead birds and mice in our garden from neighbours' cats which is bad enough but in the house - no thanks.

I'm other stitcher who uses different methods depending on what part of the chart I am stitching so I definitely agree we are the normal ones:D

augustsmummy - insomnia must be awful

sweetcarer - that Jo Verso chart is stunning. I remember it from years ago and it will look lovely. £5 for a FQ of evenweave seems like a good price to me

Louise - sorry to hear about the lurgy and hope you don't get the latest one

Hope everyone has a lovely stitchy weekend and looking forward to seeing more update photos

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Dead man's shoes, a shane meadows film ( he made this is England 86) was really good, its about a man who goes off to the army and while he is away 6 men bully his disabled brother and end up killing him, the film is the story of him getting revenge on the bullys for his brother, a very moving story of a brothers love. I would defiantly recommend it defiantly if you like shane meadows style of directing
