  • Keiss, I always found out the sex and then picked a name at my 20 week scan, I liked knowing boy or girl and name, made it more special for me, but then I have never had much patience ha ha

Am I the only one to find it weird to not only know the sex of the baby due, but actually announce the baby's name to everyone, months before she is born?

I don't see knowing the sex as strange, I knew what two out of three of mine were going to be before they were born, but I wouldn't have announced a name to everyone, it's nice to keep somthing as a surprise.

And sometimes babies don't 'suit' names when you see them - we planned to call DD Hannah but it didn't seem right when she was born, so she had no name for two days until we found a new one (that got a lot of complaints from the grannies I can tell you!) :o

i always said i didnt want to know what mine were till they arrived so all five were lovely surprises we had fun picking names for boy or girl but ha d silly names we said to everyone else we were going to use so no one knew the name till the baby was here and had been given it.

I didn't want to know the sex, and I know that many people do want to know, but to choose the name and tell everyone seems like tempting fate..sorry if that sounds a bit pessimistic! :o

My DS1 was 19 days late , so instead of being Douglas Malcolm, our original choice, he was named something else. I had too much time to change my mind!! We didn't completely decide on names until after both our boys were born, though we had a list as long as our arms...for boys that is...we had only two or three girls names, and even then we couldn't agree! :rotfl:

Found a nice birth sampler in one of my mags, simple and should be reasonably quick....but in French!! Can follow the chart easily enough though, and of course the threads are DMC :D

Will take a photo and send it to lil' sis to see if she like it.

  • I know what you mean kiess my son was still born at 40 weeks he was named before he was born and I think that had he not of been named before there is no way i could have picked his name and would have left that up to someone else and that would have been wronge. I was in no state to make any choices, but each person is different and for me it worked others it might not x

Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, Very excited to get a member number and immerse myself in the thread :)

Just a quick message before heading off for the night.

Louise - So far I have made my Partner an Anniversary card for our 3 years, simple heart design (freehand but inspired by hearts n' roses mag) with wording at the side on black aida.

Bonus floral bookmark that came with Oriental faves mag. Still need to do backstitch, but not overly confident yet and also not overly keen on it on some stitchy pieces.

A small baking motif (first of many which will be placed on an Apron for Best friends 30th that was this week . I promised her 1 motif pcm

I am still working on first project, a needlecase, it looks really messy comapred to the pincushion kit i am currently working on.

23rd spiral - cheers for the link, some lovely charts and offers :)

I haven't really tried much crafting before, kinda been creatively dormant since I was a teen. I hope to get into other needlework skills and I find colouring in books (the ones aimed at adults) very relaxing.

I have definitely found a passion (which i hope to take into my later years) for needlecraft and especially cross stitch.

Right best head off, OH wants to watch some 24 before bed.

    Night all

Circ and Autumn Reflections look stunning already they will look amazing when finished.

I love Joan Elliot designs which magazine are the cinderella, sleeping beauty, and rapunzel from please? I also am looking for the Ladybird Fairy which she did does anyone know what magazine this was in?

I'm hoping if I force myself to finish Gorjuss, that my stitchy bug will return so I have something nice for the Girls room when its decorated.

    Hi ladies.

    23rd. Love the Crafty fox.

Louise & Maria. Both lovely progress.

    Rina. Welcome to the Cafe!

No stitching done here since wednesday so I really want to get some done this afternoon. Most likely will do while F1 is on and hubby has a kip on the sofa :D

Following on from last weeks bargain books, I have just ordered some more :o Saw a post on HUKD that The Book People are selling the Hunger Games trilogy for £4.99 and there was a free delivery code so it was rude not to.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
