AM - hope you managed some shut-eye. Looking forward to seeing update of Newton.

sweetcarer - glad you managed to escape. Price of fabric seems quite reasonable. Hope your washing dries - its so much better than trying to dry around the house. Love the foral calendar.

Flat Eric - I always record BGT so that I can zap through the ads. Trouble is you have to be careful otherwise you can inadvertedly find out results before the end. I was browsing on laptop the other night while I was watching a recording and just glanced at msn homepage and it revealed who had got through to the final. Looking forward to the final tonight. Good luck with the mag sort out.

FOS - thanks for the link for the XStitch Crazy offer.

maria - glad you enjoyed your morleys. We dont have any of them around here (thank goodness). KFC have just planted themselves not too far away but I haven't ventured anywhere near yet. :D

I use different ways of stitching too.

Had expensive trip to gym this morning - got back to find I had a flat tyre. OH has had a look at it and he doesn't think it can be repaired (typical). Its a pity my own spare tyre is not the right size - would help with weight loss. :D

No stitchy news yet as I still haven't got around to sorting anything out as its been a busy week.

Have a good weekend everyone - shush don't tell anyone but we have sunshine atm.

I watched Ghost Protocol last night (new mission impossible film). Has anyone else seen this? What did you think ?

I have had a bit of a brainwave re sorting my mags. I have decided that I am going to go through them all (this will take a long time) and store the charts I like on treasury tags. Depending on the position of the chart on the page, I am going to punch holes in the top left hand corner.

I'm thinking that rather than store the charts in folders in pockets according to design, I'm instead going to store each magazine on a treasury tag minus adverts/stories/letters page etc. So each magazine will hopefully become a fraction of its size. I'm going to keep the front cover and possibly the contents page/whats in next months issue page.

The only thing I can't decide is whether to store one mag per treasury tag or six months worth/a years worth on each treasury tag?? What do you think is best ?

Thanks B-E-G - I managed a couple of hours eventually.
I will update Newton when Hubby gets back, as I don't have a smartphone or camera - DH is the gadget keeper! lol

I stitch using different techniques depending on what mood I am in. I am a big lover of "tramlining! I think its called, where you pass the needle between the two threads as your going in to the hole. It really does help the thread to lay flat.

Love the little fox 23rd - reminded me of a kit I have somewhere in my stash. My stash is too big!

I am thinking of cancelling all my stitching mag subscriptions. I just can't justify the cost any more, especially as I keep seeing kits I have to have on Ebay :o. They are always a lot cheaper than RRP though ;) so total bargains.

Latest addition to the pile is this one , I bought from Ebay for £2.70 + postage. :D. I am thinking of adding our wedding date and names to the top and having it as our wedding sampler. Would be nice to have it done by our wedding anniversary (5 years in July ) but no chance of that - if only I was as fast as you Louise :).

Right off to do some more Newton.
    Have a lovely day ladies

Now I am very confused went online to do more searching for evenweave but there is so many different types! I thought it was just evenweave 28hpi but there is luguna, brittinay, linen, glasgow, edinburgh, annabelle, etc. what one is best - i just one a plain one

The name is something to do with the mix of fibres they use to make the thread which the evenweave is made from:

    28 Count Jobelan Evenweave Fabric
    51% Cotton, 49% Modal

28 Count Zweigart® Brittney Lugana Fabric
    52% Cotton, 48% Rayon

    28 Count Zweigart® Cashel Linen
    100% Linen.

    etc

Apparently, the top one, Jobelan is the most popular - but personally, I usually buy the cheapest (but that's just me) except for the Ladybird Fairy - for that one I bought one with sparkly bits woven in, called Lugana Opalescent :)

    Hello Everyone

Wow I have just spent an additional 5 hours (more last night) reading the thread. (I'm a slow reader- evidently)

Anyway I seek permission to join the MSECSC12.. and without being a cheeky cow, think it is deserved after all that reading, :P

There are also some lovely charts that one day I will hopefully add to my evergrowing collection. Though I completely agree with the points made about stop and go people.

There are so many lovely people and such inspiring pieces that one day I hope to make. I am on quite a few other stitchy forums and often read more than post. But this one I especially hope to check daily and to keep up with all the projects and people.

I have only stitched a few things so far but have a mammoth list to stitch. I adore flat erics vintage chart! and the blackwork stuff is amazing.

Befor eI forget though, I really would like to be pointed in the direction of the quilting square alphabet chart as I would love to make that one day for a future daughter.

I also have just purchased (awaiting delivery) a lot of 7 frames on ebay and a floor stand... I have the stash bug severely at the mo :S much to my OH's concern.

I have pasted a general little bit about me intro from the other forums. (Feel free to probe and ask q's)

I am based in London and I am a complete newbie to crafting and haven't done anything like this since
primary school(I'm 30 now). It was recommended by health professionals as a
method to disengage and relax more. Apperently my body is constantly in a 'fight
or flight' mode releasing stress hormones etc and exasperating my M.E/ CFS
Please also note that due to my ill health, I can be a bit of a lurker and it can take me a while to respond.
Though I am trying to be more social and happy to chat to anyone. :)

Anyway, I seem to have caught the bug and have been increasing my stash with mags, books, thread etc
and have various project ideas for the forseeable.

    Ciao for now

    Rina

    P.s sorry for the essay.

My preference is for Brittney as I find it a little stiffer and easier to work with. Jobelan is the stuff I'm using just now and it's really very soft (good if you don't use hoops/frames)

Other than that...price will also win out for me - a bargain is a bargain :money::rotfl:
