i've got a little more done on the wedding sampler. But i have got stalled by new boiler & rads needing furniture moving for pipework :( and posting out a handmade soft sculpture raven :) (ooh, new posh phrase to describe my folk art style soft toys on sticks that aren't toys lol!).

Chicky - wow that's nice of work to let you do that. good luck with the new application x
23rd glad your boiler man is here ........ just in time for the Summer.... how have you coped with no heating??
we have a wood burning stove, and OH is a forrester so we have lots of wood. the boiler has been on its last legs since we moved in a year ago, and irritatingly its gone through phases of being fine, not working, and only working if my OH hits it 'just so' (like the Fonze!) Coming back off a wet camping trip to no shower or heating was the last straw. I'm worrying the wedding will be impacted by the huge cost of the work, but can't do anything about that. AND i'm glad it'll be summer as we wont want to turn it on for fear of spending the gas!

Sweetcarer - am glad you sound a little happier this week. if there's ever anything we can do, please just say x

Eeeew at all the cat tales - am not a cat (or dog) lover sorry, but give me a squeaky guinea pig any day :)
:T i like kittens, and love the loyalty of dogs, but yes, guinea pigs are my fave too! wheep! Wheep!

Louise - eek. i hope the rest of your family is ok. poor thing x

Going back to finish half crosses is a whole section you don't need to check against the chart so you can just zoom through it. :T

yep that's why i do it too :)

And for reducing the number of times i have to finish off and start a new thread. - i'll happily travel behind an inch or so of other stitching, catching my thread under other stitches at the back in order to then carry on with the same colour in the next place.

i usually do 1 row /// then back again \\\. If it's a section on it's own or around another shape i to do full or halfs depending on whether i can travel back that way or not to the next section.
so yes there's a lot of us here who do different methods to suit...

Does anyone do as much stitching as you can in half stitches before going back and completing the stitch ???

I do if there's lots of 'block' work and not so many different colours. Like the Dalek one.
You can just about see the reddish-brown /// stitches on this picture:

    2012_03030001-1-1.jpg

Not done any stitching this week as I have been busy sorting my cross stitch magazines out!
My gosh, it is time consuming lol

I have removed all the charts from the magazines, and I plan to scan them all through to the computer, then I have been listing the original charts for sale on a facebook page I belong to!

So far I have listed 4 magazines worth, with about 50 or so more yet to scan lol before I list them, but you should see the 'junk' that came out of the magazines!!! Enough paper for another 50 magazines worth of charts! Ridiculous! I will have to have a proper count up of how many magazines and take a picture of the 'junk' that was left over after the charts were removed!
