Skoobie those monsters are fab. Just my opinion but I think the Y should be nearer the E (but only be a couple of squares)

Ailsb I'd go to lb and oz - no plurals. My kids are always weighed in KG by the midwives and health visitors when then change it to lb and oz. both are recorded in their red books.

This is one I took last year when I was working on Touched by Magic - that's over 3ft wide as well. Hopefully you can make it out, if not I will reset the frame and take a new picture :)

I was working on the far left hand side so there was a LOT of spare fabric on the right which you can see has just been rolled up and I used two pins top and bottom to secure. Make sure you remove any pins if the picture becomes a UFO for a while though, in case of rust. Masking tape also works well.

Because you are using two hands for stitching, the excess fabric isn't in the way as you don't have to reach past it to move the needle on every stitch (I hope that makes sense?)

Yes that gives me the idea. thank you :j

Got some stitching done yesterday and what's left is quite blocky so I can see the end in sight now.

Off topic but want to rant about the cat!

Usually she will bring in creatures overnight and eat most if not all of whatever it is. Sometimes we find bits in the morning which is easy enough to clean up but lately she's bringing in live things and just playing with them! In the morning we have to try and let whatever it is out the back door, unless it's injured.
Last week was a field mouse which was injured, I had to put it out of it's misery. Yesterday, mid morning, I heard a commotion and she had bought in a sparrow. It was injured but I couldn't get close enough to catch it and help it, just had to let it out of the window.
This morning hubby does his usual morning check on her to find the utility floor dotted with droppings. She had bought in a baby rabbit FGS! It was hiding behind some shelving under the bit of worktop. He shooed the cat out, caught the rabbit and put that out too as it looked ok. The cat then carried on playing with it on the lawn so hubby went out and shooed her away again and the rabbit went behind the shed.
We have decided to keep her in overnight for a while so have dug her litter tray out from the back of the shed and the cat flap will be programmed to keep her in at night once she's in.

I know it's her natural behaviour to hunt things but she has never bought in live things so often before. In the 5 years we have had her I think she has bought in live things twice, this past 2 weeks she has bought in 3 things. I'm just glad we can shut the door between the utility and the kitchen to keep the creatures out of the main house. I dread to think what the mess would be like if she and the creature had the whole of the downstairs to run around in

    Rant over!

3 things in two weeks... you're lucky.

I get 2 or 3 mice per day, per cat...

It's a miraculous day if I get home and there aren't little bodies spread about the place...

I don't like the live ones either; but they are better than half-hearted efforts at killing them.

I have a photo of a shredded blackbird which was my welcome home from work gift a few days ago (happy to share ;) ). I can confirm that blackbirds have lots of little fluffy feathers which clog up the hoover!

our cat used to leave 'offerings' on the front door mat we had the same style door mat under the kids swing. not realsied Roger had twigged it was the same mat so also considered that an offering stone as well. DH went down a couple of times to mow the lawn and found a little pile of mice or fledglings awaiting him. We got rid of that mat as we didnt want the kids finding them.
my worst was popping out to the dustbin one moring and ending up with a decapitated mouse between my toes, that taught me two things
    1. never leave the house barefoot
    2. always look before you put your foot in it.

    morning all
    hope everyones finished their breakfast.

3 in 2 weeks are just the live ones. She brings in a lot more dead ones which I don't mind so much but it's the live ones I really don't like. You open the door and they won't help themselves to freedom :rotfl:

Yuck. And that's why I like little cute kittens who belong to other people!

Boiler man is here today... Old boiler is on the patio! Think I'll deserve some stitching time this evening. Was going to stitch last night, but OH put Roadhouse on... How have I never seen this film?!? Patrick Swayze, but naked and that old cowboy bloke with the nice southern drawl and hair... Lovely ;0)

Hello. Yes me and mog are friends again. Its hard to ever get cross with him. In the early hours the other day, he came into our bedroom and was meowing his head off! (I must say he is a cat that rarely meows) So I got up to discover he was soaking wet so got a towel and dried him off except he kept fidgeting! Anyhow then I realised he had brought a mouse in only to lose him in the bedroom  thankfully he found him again but then the cherry on the top was him crunching the mouse under the dining table !

I'm up to page 125 now but I was reading this whilst eating lunch. Peanut butter sandwiches. Crunchy peanut butter ;)

Thanks Mrs M and Shelly - glad I decided to check in on my lunch break!!
Another reminder just why I don't keep pets.

Just thought I'd let "scenery stitchers" know my local "The Works" has pink packeted cross stitch kits in Summer, Winter etc for just £2.99 today in their clearance. Not my cuppa tea to stitch (but now I'm back at work it dawned on me they may have been good for aida etc).
not sure what size or anything (sorry)

    aha tada - http://www.theworks.co.uk/Make--Create-Cross-Stitch-Set-Summer/5052089022034-B.html

23rd glad your boiler man is here ........ just in time for the Summer.... how have you coped with no heating??

Am sooo bored there has been nothing for me to do at work for the last 2 days. Yesterday they happily let me spend the entire day filling in a job application for somewhere else!!

I should have an update on princess palace tonight as I just have a bit of blocky background stitching and a small amount of backstitch to finish this page off. Am considering switching to a different project for a month or so so i don't get sick of it. but then I think I only have 3 (possibly 4) A4 pages left of this and should stick at it.
Not got any small half finished projects tho so whatever I pick up will still be a UFO when I go back to princess.......hmmmmmmm
