Argh!! My morning of stitching at a local group is threatened by the boiler man coming to measure up! Ok, so we've barely had heating or hot water for a couple of weeks, but, grumble I've got the stitchy bug back
Also the house needs Serious tidying... Depressed, family issues, camping holiday and a bank holiday feeling poorly have meant Nothing has been put away for 3 weeks! Eek!!
Sorry for ranting!
Thank you for the nice comments on my hearts. If u can't see the mistakes I'm confident it's ok!
Fos I've been thinking... I'd Definitely use the crown fabric on the from of the cushion. If I felt confident I'd mitre the corners, but I probably wouldn't so I'd do it 'courthouse steps style" and have 2 shorter borders top and bottom and 2 longer up the sides.
I don't know how confident you are, but if you're unsure the borders will be sewn perfectly straight I'd be wary of the big red stitched border too close, as even the natural squishyness of the cushion could emphasise any narrowing when seeing together. So perhaps leave 1/2 an iinch after the red stitch border before the fabric to negate that?
Hope that makes some sense. Just my 2ps worth... I've made a lot of patchwork cushions but never one with aida.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Quick update, borrowed the scanner at work to get a good picture!
Here's where I am on the Monsters, one letter plus backstitch to go.
It's at work with me so I can work on it at lunch, am determined to get it done :rotfl:
Have had my dispatch email from 1-2-3-stitch, that was quick! Hope it doesn't take too long to arrive  Right though, definitely no more stitchy purchases now for May, not counting any threads I may need for the Love you Dad. (Shouldn't be thinking this but if I'm good for the rest of the month I might treat myself to the Anniversaries of the Heart set...)
FOS - I'm undecided about the fabric for your cushion, maybe because I'm having trouble visualising what it will look like. yes I have been using a cushion under the frame - then its at the perfect height
whats the best way to pin the fabric - daft question I know but the obvious just eludes me.... could you post a pic next time you do a big project?
This is one I took last year when I was working on Touched by Magic - that's over 3ft wide as well. Hopefully you can make it out, if not I will reset the frame and take a new picture
I was working on the far left hand side so there was a LOT of spare fabric on the right which you can see has just been rolled up and I used two pins top and bottom to secure. Make sure you remove any pins if the picture becomes a UFO for a while though, in case of rust. Masking tape also works well.
Because you are using two hands for stitching, the excess fabric isn't in the way as you don't have to reach past it to move the needle on every stitch (I hope that makes sense?)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Just checked to see how my mag subs were doing and I discovered I have just received the last ones. (World of Cross Stitch and Card Shop). Have been considering this again
WOXS 5 for £5
Had been looking for Cross Stitch Crazy but cannot find any similar offers atm. If anyone knows anything different please let me know.
Will ponder for another few minutes and then I will press the button - it only works out at a £1 per mag (who am I trying to convince).
Think it might be classed as spending on your stash Louise - sorry - but not too bad though..

Here you go - 5 issues for £5 on XS Crazy0 -
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to give their thoughts on how I should finish with my Jubilee cushion. The consensus is that I should use the fabric for borders on the front and I think I will leave off the red border, pin the border and see if I want to do a single row. 23rdspiral - you're right I should mitre the corners. That doesn't bother me too much - it just takes me longer to do. What does challenge me is piping though red piping might finish it off instead of the red border. Anyway still plenty of stitching to be done so I don't have to decide yet. Thank you again for all your encouragement - this thread is great0

Me again,
Lunchtime progress;
Is the Y in the right place? I can't decide if I should budge it slightly to the right or not?!Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
i think that 'Y' looks just right, theres not much of a gap between the other letters because of how the monsters are placed. But if you go for the letters any closer together i think it will look slightly out of balance and bunched up and if you move it any further out it will look not part of the word.
im sure others will be along to help you out in a bit, but ive just got back from work so saw your question first.SPC~12 ot 124
