Great start Aneres!
Sweetcarer and BEG, just because youve posted about costs lately, and anyone else feeling the pinch... I love DMC threads but when I started out I just couldnt justify the expense. So I got threads off the market for c30p each, ok I now know a bulk order from Across Town is cheaper. Anyway, I also used threads from 99p Stores and Pound World. For 99p u get 10 colours, and when I last checked they were colorfast washable. I still use them for cards and decorations, I'm happy with the quality for those small, not out all the time, things.
I work near one of those shops and am happy to post a pack at cost to anyone. PM if so, I guess they'd cost c. £1.50 with the threads and stamp price.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. mrsmoneypenny. Same here, not one stitch stitched over the weekend. I had plans to but just never got round to it.I'm going to be cheeky does anyone have the RM wedding sampler they canme? I really just need the small rose as I'm thinking of doing name cards for my wedding with it on.
Do you mean the one Louise and I have stitched? Send me your email address if so and I'll send you a copy. If you don't mean the one I have done, ignore me:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Just dropped in to say thank you to everyone for the thoughts (and prayers). They were eventually allowed to hold Charlie (that's what they are calling him - it's a family name) for a short time last night. He had been taken off the ventilator and was doing well. They said he should make steady progress, although his lungs are under developed.
Anyway I managed to nearly finish the outlining on one of the dragons whilst I was waiting for news yesterday. But I heard his was going to be okay I have knitted a tiny blue hat and have started a cardigan - nothing I had done will fit him they will all be too big. Although his weight isn't bad, he was 5lb+.
Anaeres - you are doing well. Whats it like stitching on 11 count?
General question - as I am going to be stitching a large project with floss that's from China/Hong Kong do you think I should pre-wash the floss before I start to stitch? If so, dumb question, but how do I do this? Thanks in advance for the advice.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

I use the non-lap version of that R+R frame and here's my tips for what they're worth...
If you've got lots of excess fabric I found it easiest to roll it up to the edge of the frame (right side in to protect against dirt) and then put two pieces of sticky tape around the roll one at the top and one at the bottom. try to make sure the tape goes from the front of the frame right around the fabric and sticks to the back of the frame. This works well for large pieces, where you're not moving the fabric too often in the frame but could well get frustrating if you have to move it a lot.
Over time, the plastic half-shell pieces that go over the frame to clip the fabric will lose a bit of their springiness. Also, some fabrics are "grippier" ('zat a word?!) than others so slip less. I use a narrow length of scrap adia and put it over the WIP on the frame where I'm going to clip it - so there is at least a double thickness of fabric for the clip to sit on.
I'm sure Louise will be on with help too, as she uses the same version as you :T
This is a link to the R&R frames site where they have links to You Tube which might be useful. I seem to remember being told that putting the plastic pieces into hot water can tighten them up but wouldn't want to recommend this without checking with the makers0 -
Mags_Cat, hard frost looks lovely i hope you enjoy stitching it
flowerofscotland, i also have the Fairytale ABC from the quilt days, pm me your email addy and i'll send it over, same for anyone else who wants it.
Thank you so much for the offer but Maria has already been very helpful. Looking at the letters I need for GD's name I think I am going to make some changes so that I can include a castle and a princess. Am thinking that it would look good on some Polstitches fabric or possibly some pale pink linen.0 -

Just catching up with the everyone's activities over the weekend.
My plan for painting the shed was scuppered by the weather as were any plans to go out on the BH so "had" to stay in and potter/stitch
I did some tidying up of magazines which of course resulted in me finding more projects I want to do  and I also did some more work on the Jubilee cushion. Thank you for all of your lovely comments about the fabric. I'd like to ask your opinions about how I should use it This is a link to a picture of the finished cushion. I am wondering whether I should use my crowns fabric to make a border as well as a backing (it won't really be seen on the back) and if I do should I still do the border of 3 cross stitches in red. I was thinking of just doing a single cross stitch border and then around 4 cms of fabric border, Would love to know what you think. No rush - it's going to take a while to finish the xs0 -
Hi everyone
Not much stitching for me over the weekend, everything seemed to get in the way and I couldn't concentrate
So have missed the deadline for Nephew's birthday but hopefully I won't be too much longer in finishing the monsters!
Will catch up properly later, going to look at my blackbird sampler to cheer myself up xxCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0
