    Hiya everyone,

Feeling a bit more cheerful now I've popped back in :D

Ailsb - so glad to hear little Charlie is doing better.

Nykied - How long did the cushion take you? I'm thinking of starting a 'me' design and trying to pick one is hard!

Aneres - Love Happy Happy House! and great progress on the new project

Mrs M and b-e-g - I also enjoyed the book, so much better than the film.

I ordered the Love you Dad from Bent Creek for Father's day from 1-2-3-Stitch, and an omnibook of quick stitches... oops!

Am also definitely going to stitch Anniversaries of the Heart, it's decided! I found them all on this site and at a much better price, has anyone used it?

OK I've got one and a half letters ish to do one the monsters so better get on!

Thanks for your kind words chicky.

Just checked to see how my mag subs were doing and I discovered I have just received the last ones. (World of Cross Stitch and Card Shop). Have been considering this again

    WOXS 5 for £5

Had been looking for Cross Stitch Crazy but cannot find any similar offers atm. If anyone knows anything different please let me know.

Will ponder for another few minutes and then I will press the button - it only works out at a £1 per mag (who am I trying to convince).

Think it might be classed as spending on your stash Louise - sorry - but not too bad though. ;).

I'd like to ask your opinions about how I should use it This is a link to a picture of the finished cushion. I am wondering whether I should use my crowns fabric to make a border as well as a backing (it won't really be seen on the back) and if I do should I still do the border of 3 cross stitches in red. I was thinking of just doing a single cross stitch border and then around 4 cms of fabric border, Would love to know what you think. No rush - it's going to take a while to finish the xs :)

I would definately use the fabric as a border, it's a shame to not see such wonderful fabric. Also agree that I would reduce the width of the cross stitch border.

Hi all - got a fair bit to catch up on, I was away offroading with hubby and DS2 for the weekend up in Inverness, great fun and a lot of laughs to be had with the group. :D No stitching at all been done since last Wed but thems the breaks lol :rotfl:

Flat_Eric - I hate when threads are merged or deleted with no notification, I think it's really rude.
Have you got the material sorted onto your frame since you posted? Sounds like you just need to fiddle a bit. I find putting the two side clips on first, adjusting the straightness then fitting the top and bottom ones helps a lot. Roll the excess fabric up at the sides and secure it in place so it's not hanginf and getting in the way of your stitching.
I notice mags has said she uses some spare fabric under the clips as well, that's a good tip, I tend to just use a sheet of paper which works just as well. Your frame is still new though so that might not be as much of a problem for you at the moment.

Ps - I have been good and haven't bought any stitchy stuff this month :D

I haven't picked up the Vintage project again as Sunday was a busy day and Monday I sorted out the threads and material for the Happy Happy House? project featured in cross stitcher and stitched recently on here. I cut my material as per instructions 60cm x 60cm and this looked ridiculous in the frame and just looked silly and impossible to work with. I need to see about pinning the material/rolling it ...

The frame I bought is the smaller of the two that sew and so sell. Do you think this is all one needs. I don't know whether to save for the bigger frame ? or whether the siesta lapframe might be a better option as this is bigger again? What do you suggest? I want something that is versatile as a few of my projects are going to take me ages/are huge whereas others are small.

I only have the smaller frame as well, it's more versatile for doing smaller projects as well as large ones

I have managed my HAED on it and that was over 3ft wide. Once you have pinned the excess material you should be fine.

Also - try using a flattish cushion on your knee then the frame on top - gives a little extra stability. :)

yes I have been using a cushion under the frame - then its at the perfect height :D whats the best way to pin the fabric - daft question I know but the obvious just eludes me.... could you post a pic next time you do a big project? :D

FOS - I think the fabric would look lovely on front too - it would be such a shame for it to be hidden on the back when its looks as though it was meant to go with the design.

Still no stitching sorted to do but I might sort my little corner out. I have a magazine rack thing down beside my sofa where I [STRIKE]dump[/STRIKE] carefully keep bits and bobs/current stitching projects and its in dire need of a tidy up. This might be my challenge for today.

    Take care everyone

My material was slightly smaller 53cm by 53cm, I used a big hoop for mine and it was fine without pinning.
