Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

2nd fine day here and if the dry weather continues I will be able to paint / treat the shed. I don't want to do it but I do want it done and this one is easier to do. We had to replace our old shed in 2010 and I chose one which is the same dimensions apart from the height making it much easier for me to "paint" - never sure what verb to use as it isn't paint but you use a paintbrush and the effect is similar.

Ailsb - looking forward to the photo of the birth sampler

aneres - I'm another one who is interested in seeing your progress with your huge project

23rdspiral - a version of the Will and Kate wedding sampler would be lovely. I mentioned in another post that the latest Cross Stitch Crazy has a clock design with 12 different birds - might be suitable for your Dad. Let me know if I can help ;)

catwoman - shame about the Polstitches grab bag as there are good value; also look out for their sales = irrestible (for me anyway :rotfl:)

sweetcarer - sorry to hear about the dentist and having to pay makes it even more painful.
Lovely JE design - have you done any of the others in the series? This one looks as though it may be stitched on plain white? Most of the others have used Polstitches fabric I think

Mags_cat - don't forget to let us see Tenby when back from the framers. I think the John Clayton circles are stunning. I've only stitched one (I think it is called Secret Garden) though I have Daffodil Wood which was a free chart with a magazine last year and is in my very long to do list. Hard Frost is a lovely design

aneres Your Happy House is fabulous. What are you going to do with it now?

    Maria
    - you have mail Thank you very much :D

augustsmummy = Newton is very cute

Flat Eric - love the Vintage kit. Bothy Threads have some great designs but does anyone know if they ever do charts instead of kits. I really like this one but don't want to buy a kit as I would not use the fabric. I don't mind so much when it's a small piece of aida but this isn't (I would use evenweave which then makes it very expensive)

Ruth honey am loving the saga of Blossom and the photos are soooooooo cute

Decided to start on my Diamond Jubilee cushion so that I finish it somewhere near the appropriate time and not 12 years late like my Millennium Sampler:eek:

I was also inspired to start it by finding what I think is the ideal fabric for the cushion border and back at a local quilting store. Here is a photo of my progress to date and the backing fabric

I'm stitching it on cream Ariosa evenweave as recommended in the magazine (Cross Stitcher) but am using #5 perle thread instead of the 4 strands of stranded. I could be tempted to buy the matching Emma Bridgewater mug as well though it is pricey.

PERFECT fabric! I look forward to seeing it finished.

Thank you. I'll keep them coming then!

Oh, forgot to mention earlier. I did actually get some stitching done on Friday. Still working on LK 'A Good Marriage' but need it done by 25th. Will try and get a pic of it when DH isn't about.

FlowersofScotland Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, I had thought I may give it to a friend who's moving but I don't think it will be appreciated.

Done some of the large x stitch but finding it tough going as the aida is smaller than I'm used to and I'm having to use a magnifying glass.

Can anyone recommend a good clip on one?

Good luck with your painting FlowersofScotland. And thank you for the encouragement re the wedding sampler i'm fine with kitch, but dont want twee, if you see what i mean! I've had a look online but can't see a photo of the clock on their website... i wont get to a shop that stocks CSC till Tuesday at the earliest. Thank you for the offer, i'm tempeted to say Yes, but without seeing it first it i'd worry about waisting your time. Can you even see it on the cover? As sometimes i know you cant. humm...

FOS - i also LOVE your jubilee stitch, and the matching fabric is simply perfect! it'll be a lovely family heirloom :)

flat eric - i love that Vinatage design! looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

mags_cat - i hope you dont tire of all those blues, its a very lovely picture!

Ruth honey i'm sorry to hear the priest isnt a caring person... just goes to show religion is irrelevant to such things. That pic of Blossom with her belly spots showing makes her look like a Bengal (very expensive, neighbours used to have 2), she's really lovely. Good on you for trying to help the mother and other kitten xx

here's a quick snap of the breast cancer Pink Ribbon hearts kit i finished yesterday. I actually found it quite difficult, all the confetti stitching confused me, and i know a few are in the wrong places. oh well. i still think it's pretty.

Ruth_honey - those cats/ kittens are just toooo cute. Hate the attitude of the RSPCA recently. My collegue rang them as he saw an injured pigeon (ok ok don' t get me started on pigeons - yes we laughed) and they basically told him to go away and ring the police as it was too dangerous for them to go and rescue a pigeon off a road.
Police basically wouldn't do anything (and rightly so in my opinion). Told him to ring RSPCA back........ who told him to take a box home from work - stop and get it himself and take it to them. (ok so it's ok for HIM to stop and fetch it on a road?????)

When I worked in a school one of my collegues there reported an injured hedgehog...... they told her to find a box go and get it and take it to them.

I know it all comes down to money and them being a voluntary organisation but even so.

flowerofscotland - Diamond Jubilee cushion will be fantastic - that backing fabric was made for it.

That kings and queens kit is brilliant. Another one I'd like to stitch but would have no one to stitch it for (and no where to put it if i kept it).
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Grrrr RSPCA. Funny enough when I was little, I wanted to work for them / well with animals but I have ended up working in an office ! I was upset to read an article in the paper last week about the RSPCA - see here :(

It was in issue 251 of x stitcher.

If you want a ;) let me know.

I subscribe to cross stitcher - did you find the design took you the 35 hours stated ? and did you start in the centre of the design ? (I'm guessing with the orange bit in the middle (thereabouts) or with the hearts ??? so pink heart on the left at the top ??? I like the idea of no back stitch :j and how the colour is such that the letters stand out. shame we can't have a whole alphabet like that so we could stitch our names :j oh and did you use the threads stated or your own choice of colours ?

I'm not sure how long it took probably about 3 weeks doing it on and off, I don't stitch for a full evening I tend to be on the laptop, watching tv and doing stitching. It is really easy to stitch though.

Yes I started in the centre, I used some of their colours and chose others to make up for what I didn't have.

You're right it would be great to have a full alphabet, you made me check it to see if I could make my name up out of it but unfortunately no.

Chickywiggle I've been reading through last years Cafe thread and just come across your letter to cross stitch crazy. It was lovely and you described exactly how it is on here, I'm quite new and have been made to feel very welcome.
