Hubby thinks I'm odd because I won't read a book if it's part of a set unless I can get the others....is that just me?

Not at all - what's the point otherwise :)
    - all Sophie Kinsella's books (read and got an addiction)

I do like her books, along with Marian Keyes. They aren't cheap enough to buy on the kindle though so haven't read any of theirs this year.

I have been reading the Hunger Games trilogy this week - halfway through Mockingjay atm and was wondering what to read next and those Jo Nesbo ones look interesting, I shall have a look at the price lol :)

Don't you just hate getting near the end of a really good read? :(

    Anyway...oh yeah...stitching...ummm.....:o

Mags - love your threads. I have mine stored like this and it's great.

Someone asked about a Fathers Day card design. I did my dad a coaster for his birthday with his initial and a tank on. I have the pattern if you are interested.

the fairytale alphabet (grr bad memories - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2424617) is lovely for children of that age.

there's also a storybook one that i found the other day that i did for my neice.

    i posted last night - i promise, i know i did but it's vanished and now i can't remember what i wrote!

Well being a comparative newbie and also nosy I had to check out the link and then got hooked on reading the whole sorry saga (over 700 posts). Such a shame that all that hard work and goodwill came to nothing. The chart is fabulous and would have made a wonderful child's quilt. Does anyone remember which magazine issue it was in? Sorry if this reopens old wounds but when I saw the design I thought it would make a lovely name plate for my youngest GD

Just catching up with all the posts.

I haven't done any XS in last few days as I have been sewing instead - there just aren't enough hours in the day, days in the week, weeks in the year etc for everything I want to do :(

Skoobie - monsters are looking great

Louise - Circe is fabulous and any other fabric wouldn't have worked as well. Sorry you had to do reverse stitching but I agree it looks better with 1 strand

Maria - hope it's good news tomorrow

Flat Eric - my vote goes to the plastic pockets rather than hole punching the magazine pages. I'm completely with you about time pressures.

nmm - thanks for the update photo

Shelly - I use the plastic folders you wrote about to store WIP projects and projects I want to do where I am in the process of collecting the various bits and pieces needed. I then store the folders in a plastic magazine rack (I've got quite a few of these which I salvaged from work just before they were going in a skip - all they needed was a good wash:D)

Mags-cat - those storage boxes full of threads look wonderful. Of course you had to share with us as we are the only ones who will truly appreciate your joy. Do you plan to keep topping up the boxes as you use colours? Did they arrive already sorted in numerical order? What a fabulous present.

b-e-g So pleased that your friend appreciated her tulips picture - it certainly looked stunning

Louise - both CSCrazy and CS CardShop mainly feature smaller designs. Crazy is more of a magazine IMHO as it has more articles so it depends what you like. They are also published at different frequencies - 13 per year for Crazy and 6 per year for Card Shop though that might be a deciding factor
Here is a link to 3 issues for £1 for Crazy and here for Card Shop

tellmeitsfriday - I loved the Stieg Larsson books (though I haven't seen either of the films) and as a result I have a couple of the Jo Nesbo books (bought from charity shops). Do they need to be read in chronological order? Like Shelly and chickywiggle I do tend to collect series of books when I find an author I like.

It was me who asked, thanks for thinking about it Ailsb! I've found some possibles now but I'd love to have a look anyway, do you still have my email? Have got another nephew's birthday soon and he is mad on tanks and soldiers :)

Here are the designs I found, what does everyone think?

    One

    Two

    Three

I like the fish one best but my dad doesn't fish! The first one is nice too, but has anyone used 1-2-3-stitch before? They have a couple of other designs I like...

... so much for not buying any stitchy things in May.

Yes, yes they did! All pre-wound and pre sorted :D. I think if I'd had to do that it would have put me off cross stitch for life:rotfl:

All I have to do now is insert the ones I already had into the boxes. And yes, I can now just buy replacements for any I run out of (although I can't see that happening any time soon....!)

I have finished outling the three letters on the monsters, working on the 4th letter but alas I didn't take a pic :(

My favourite is the Bent Creek design and I'm not keen on the fish one but then I don't like stuffed animals  I also like the Lizzie Kate one and the price is better :)

I've used 123 stitch though not recently.

Cross Stitch Card Shop is on sale today and has some Father's Day designs - are you anywhere near a WHS or other shop where you could look before you buy?
