    Question.....
I shall be browsing the forum shortly to find a suitable challenge to stop me spending all my money BUT whilst I think I can [STRIKE]quite happily[/STRIKE] give up buying cross stitch stash, I don't feel I can give up my addiction to the kindle daily deal. I don't buy it every day but do check what the daily deal is and if its a book I am interested in then I will buy it. I do have hundreds of tree books to read and lots and lots of kindle books so its not as if I need any more books but when a book is 99p then unfortunately the temptation to buy is just well all too tempting. Views please.... Oh and if anyone would like to join in my no spend challenge then you are more than welcome! I suspect I may start up my own thread - should I allow any type of spending or ban any unnecessary spending altogether? I know this isn't cross stitch related but you are such a lovely lot and I am sure you won't mind. Also how long should I set the challenge for ??? I seriously need to rein in my spending!

Daily deals? Ohhh I'm glad I haven't spotted them - I've got abotu 10 unread books on my kindle, that's enough for now. After seeing the Hunger Games last week I downloaded the trilogy and have started them.

Why not make your challenge for the month of May and see how you get on? I think you need to keep it realistic though, aim to cut down (allowing a couple of little treats) rather than cutting out everything - we all need a few little pleasures in life :D

I would offer to join in...but I have the willpower of a kitkat (Circe anyone?:rotfl:) so would probably be useless lol. I could cut down a bit though if that's any good to join in? :o

I guess I could have a no buying stash/kits or charts month and only allow myself to buy threads for current projects I have run out of and REALLY need?

I have over a hundred unread books on my kindle. When they had their recent spring sale, I bought 19 books

Whilst I am keen for the challenge to be a long term goal, I do realise that setting myself up to spend nothing until near on Christmas is probably going to be impossible. I have set myself no spend challenges before and have failed - miserably. So turning it on its head, I think it would be best to try and save a set amount of money by a certain date. That way I can still buy the odd treat.

Will post back when I have started the thread. If you want to join me then please do :j

Did anyone watch the piers morgan interview with Carol Voderman that was on tonight? I'm all upset now especially as I missed the beginning so have just watched the beginning on plus one and seen her talking about Richard Whiteley and getting really upset :(

I have just signed up to the Kinde daily deal email! Downloaded the app to my phone ages ago and downloaded one free book (Moby !!!!!!) always meant to read. I keep it as my emergency book for when I get held up somewhere without a tree book to read, but have now got two more on there!! I finished the book I was reading at lunchtime so might start one of these on Monday to help me decide whether I not I 'need' a Kindle.
On a stitchy note, I have done a couple of hours of stitching tonight but am away to my bed now.

I have set up the thread now. its here !

It was difficult to decide on how long to set the challenge for but as I am doing the sealed pot, I have decided to coincide the opening of my pot with my deadline for saving the pennies.

Hope to see you over there.

and thanks for letting me talk about non cross stitch waffle :o

Louise - loved reading the responses to your query about what to stitch next and Magscat made me feel guilty but I don't believe Medieval Lady will become a UFO just because you put her to one side

    Oops! Sorry :D
  • sk00bie looking good.

b_e_g love the tulips, the red mount makes the red tulips stand out more and it looks great. xx and it was a bargain.

cosmopolitan :) not sure if I have said hello and welcome or not, so hello just incase I havent

Sorry Flat Eric, I dont have a kindle either so I cant help you. You could put your daily kindle money away in a jar and save it up for the month and then treat yourself to something that you really need.

Well - shock - it's actually SUNNY here today

House is tidy, washing is on, got an hour and a half before I pick up DD from nursery school so I thought I would check here before doing some stitching :D

Nah she definitely won't - I still like her and she is easy to stitch :)

Sounds like you will be having my favourite sort of weekend :T

I didn't get in till nearly 10pm so by the time I finished organising threads I only got 4 lengths done on Circe - I actually fell asleep sitting up, needle in hand before midnight, I was so tired :o

One thing I'm not too keen on though - although the fabric is lovely and soft, it's not too easy to stitch on, even when it's tightly stretched on the frame there is still quite a bit of 'give' to it - the evenweave I had been working on for my lady was quite stiff, which I prefer.

    Anyway...time to get cracking.....

I know what you mean about the fabric and understand that it might not work too well for you because you like to use a frame. I often stitch "in hand" and so prefer softer fabrics.
