Hi all - just back from hols this evening, all unpacked and 2 loads of washing in already, just reading back from page 116.....

Sk00bie - 'Dear Santa' looks lovely - and you have plenty of time to get it framed :D
The birthday card looks great, and that border is much more eyecatching in gold :T

jamsponge - 70 pages?? Most one of mine had was 42 lol, good luck printing all that off! You will find it's easy enough to stitch, just focus on one page at a time and you get there in the end.

Chicky - glad to see you're okay, and I get what you mean x

lancs_lady - the Winter Angel looks beautiful :)

Keiss - Don't blame you for just taking small pieces on hols - I took my medieval lady with me this week and got pretty much nowhere! :rotfl: We were just too busy, which is a good thing really :)

Debtdalek - I saw those grip frames at the craft show last month, I did toy with the idea of getting one but when I thought about it - if you were working on a large piece, you wouldn't be able to move it around as there would be holes in the fabric so it would limit what I could use it for.

Sweetcarer - congrats on completing little boy blue!:T And as for the other baby pic - quick to stitch and a bargain frame, yet it looks like you have gone to so much more trouble, sounds like a success to me.

Now we are back I'm going to finish the medieval lady before starting on the Sorceress (everything is here!!:j). It's not very complicated so I should finish in a couple of weeks or so. Only thing is, the original was designed with anchor threads, and they have converted to DMC but I don't like how the colours look, so I might have to unpick the bit I have done and change the colours.

On the down side - the lovely little baby shoes that I stitched and framed for a friend a couple of weeks ago seems to have gotten lost in the post, such a shame :(:(

I'm up to page 121 now...more to follow....

  • Welcome back Louise, hope you had a good time, so sad that your piece got lost in the post, so disappointing. no more scares thank god and hubby is still looking after me, had half expected him to go back to normal by now lol, but shock horror after 10 years of living together he has started helping with the kids and housework. Think I might have scared him! On a slightly unsettling note today I spoke to my grandad and told him what had happened, he's reply was that it could have been a blood clot! Thanks for that grandad! Good job I know he means well!

oh noo *louise* I hate the post sometimes. I stitched my mum a lavender secret smellly thing card for mothers day when they first came out and that never turned up.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Louise - How awful that your stitching gift went awol. However, some stuff seems to be taking a ridiculous length of time at the moment, so it still might turn up eventually. I do hope so.

Love eveyones, WIP's piccies. I really must just get on with one of my UFO's, instead of procrastinating about this stupid frame!

Trouble is, as someone else just wrote on here, I tend to have what is supposed to be a quick look at my email and then get embroiled in various other websites while semi-watching the tv, when I could and should be doing some cross stitch. Is it too late in the year for a New Years resolution? :rotfl:

Hope you've enjoyed you hols Louise. Looking forward to seeing your update on your Lady. Sorry to hear that your stitchy pressie has gone missing in post - how frustrating.

Hope all goes well with tests Maria on Wed - thinking of you.

Had hoped to do a few stitches yesterday afternoon but something made me check the colours and I realised I had mixed the colours up.
So I was unpicking last night and have continued doing so this morning so that when I get time later I will be able to stitch - in the right colours this time hopefully.

Off to Mums shortly to do some prep work for more decorating tomorrow - this week should see it completed :j

Just put some washing out and its really cold and the rain doesn't look far away - oh well another waste of time.

Morning all. I am just waiting for my food shop to be delivered then I suppose I must busy myself with some housework. Hopefully I can then settle down this afternoon on the sofa with my cross stitch and columbo/BGT.

I've got the London Marathon on the tv at the moment. I must say I'm worn out just watching it ! and seeing all those people, well the mind boggles. I don't like crowds.

Anyhow, browsing sew and so (as you do :D) and seen this sewing box kit but don't like the colours of the sewing box. how easy do you think it would be to change this and what colours would you go for?

I just took a look at the link and you can have can have custom names done. That would be a very clever gift.
I know I've seen one made up in a needlework store in Denver spelling Colorado, so maybe that's how they got that one?

I hadn't exploreed the site recently so this is new to me. What a fabulous idea for a personalised gift - for a wedding, engagement, special birthday and of course ideal for a christening/naming day gift.

These designs combine a few of my favourite stitching elements (lettering, hand dyed fabric, hand dyed thread) so I love them. The Christmas Tree one is definitely on my wish list

On a stitchy note, not sure if you remember me wittering on about stitching the Footprints verse. Well I've managed to find the kit which is in the shape of a cross, made by Bucilla on a UK website for £17.99. My husband has just changed jobs so money is a bit tight this month as we hadn't budgeted for a month of half money. So hopefully next month I can treat myself - if it's still in stock.

Footprints is a lovely poem - I stitched it for my MiL many years ago but it wasn't a cross shape - there was a bit of a beach scene on the left hand side as I recall. Unfortunately it was back when I didn't think about taking photos of stitching projects before I gave them away

Could you contact the site and ask them to keep you the kit until next month? Bricks and mortar shops will do this so I don't see why an online shop wouldn't. They can only say no if you enquire.

Lasting for a month on half a month's money isn't funny but it will be a real MSE achievement :money: and you will deserve your stitchy treat next month:)
