  • oh there lovely, think my favourite is the christmas rules one. ill certainly look out for lizzie kate stuff in future

For MrsMoneypenny and anyone else interested in Lizzie Kate designs she has a selection of free designs to download on her website I love them because they are so quick and easy to do and you can use whatever colours of thread and fabric you have in your stash - great for using up those left over lengths of thread from completed kits which are not labelled with the thread number but too good to throw away (or is that just me?:))

Anyway I have stitched Hello Spring as a coaster on a remnant of sparkly evenweave with my own choice of colours

and have used Friendship Grows, Count your blessings, Cosy Christmas Wishes (I had to change the Z to S!), Spooky Time and Bloom as cards, scissor fobs, needlecases and as a panel in a bag I made.
I haven't looked at the site recently and I think "Whatever" is new

I know they aren't to everyone's taste and some of the designs are very American but I love them
  • sk00bie i havent got any beads yet i just thought it would look nicer with little twinkly glass bead stars instead of misshaped french knots of varying sizes, im thinking maybe white or slivery i think clear would get lost and not be very visible. what do you think?
a quick count on the photo on the outside of the kit and i'd estimate there are about 100 stars (now you know why id sooner not french knot them all) in the proper instructions they are worked in pale yellow

White or silver beads would look lovely and I agree with Skoobie about matching the thread to the beads in this case. You could consder using "invisible" thread but it's quite springy and I don't find it particularly pleasant to work with but it doesn't show up.
  • Blue eyed girl - love the card and hope my link to the free LK designs aren't considered too tempting:D

Flat Eric - love your idea of us taking over a magazine for an issue - great fun

NeedWillPower - you could try doing what US stitchers call a "floss toss" which is where you spread out the threads for a design on different background fabric to decide whether you will like Cherish your Dreams on white aida. As Ailsb said it won't cost a lot to swap the coloured aida to white if you want all the backgrounds to be the same. However when hanging stitchings in a group I personally think it is more important to have the same frame moulding than background fabric but this is very much a matter of personal preference. Looking forward to when you can post pictures of your progress on Rainbow Trail

catwoman - it's starting to look like a dragon now - great progress

chickywiggle - love your Princess palace

Ailsb - The word trees use variegated threads so yes would definitely work and that also makes them a quick stitch

Maria - try not to worry too much in advance of Wedneday (easy to say, hard to do I know)

My stitching plans for the weekend are the Millennium Sampler UFO and some small padded hearts for my DIL using the fabric cut off her curtains when they were shortened.

Hope everyone has a happy stitching weekend

Thank you very much for the link to the Lizzie Kate website and the free charts. :j I haven't stitched any of her designs but I do have a few of her charts :T I love the snowman designs and its fab the free chart includes the border you need.

I have had a mostly pleasant weekend so far although I haven't managed any stitching. I did watch the Lincoln Lawyer film last night which I really enjoyed after thinking I wouldn't like it/it would be boring. I find it hard to settle down and watch something and usually find myself with itchy fingers... I also have the book but have not yet read it so I have dug that out now to see how the film/book compare.

My cat is not my friend this morning after sitting next to me quite happily and then suddenly without warning scratching my face. He has caught me on my eyelid! Grrr!

So not sure what my plans are for today. I suspect I shall busy myself on the lizzie kate site! and might manage some cross stitch this afternoon. Certainly tomorrow, I plan to do some.

Finally before I go, and off topic so I apologise in advance but it is my brother's birthday soon and he will be 21. I don't have time to stitch anything for him and don't think he would appreciate that but I have no idea what to buy him as a birthday gift. Money is the obvious answer but I know if I give him money, it will just be wasted, most likely on beer. I am reluctant to buy anything because I know when he is short of beer money, it will be auctioned off! I also don't know what to buy him. I asked him recently and he said he didn't know! So any ideas ? I don't want to be mean and not get him anything but at the same time I don't want to waste money buying something he doesn't want/need or something he is going to keep for 5 minutes then sell! so any ideas welcome.

The only thing I have come up with so far is that i could perhaps allocate him £100 of my premium bonds. This wouldn't cost me any money (ideal at the moment as I am REALLY overdrawn!) and he could have them forever more and whatever winnings those particular bonds got, would be his so he could win a million pounds! I think this is a good idea but at the same time wonder if it is just a bit naff ??

Flat Eric How about something related to beer? Like a personalised glass or a bottle opener? My brother bought us a shark bottle opener that sticks to the fridge. It's silly, but fun. You could even add some extras to make it into a hamper. A DVD & popcorn for a night in?

FOS - thanks for the link to the free Lizzie Kate stuff - have marked this for future reference :D. Your spring coaster looks lovely.

Started a tulip pic for friends birthday - she was taken with my John Clayton Tulip Fields but the only kits I can find are quite pricey and by the time the framing is done would make it more than funds will allow.

Just sat down after ironing, got a couple of things to do on laptop and then I might manage a few stitches before I'm back out again. Awww OH has just brought me a cuppa tea and a choccie chip muffin :smileyhea

Enjoy the weekend everyone despite the weather. Sorry still have lots of posts to catch up with. :o

    Hello Girls

Hope your weekend is going well. Off to see Mr A*da and Mr S*bys in a bit to get the shop done. Go to both and get bargains in both hopefully. Collected my tokens and got £8 off shopping.

Its update time - here is the latest on my blue sampler - got my boss to take photo of it at work - and he was kind enough to email it to me , he likes the updates too.

Keep well everyone, as well as you can be, catch you all later
