    Another silly question coming

All my threads that I am using at pre cut (all using 2 strands) and so is the silver and gold metallic threads so :

When working with silver metallic and gold metallic threads, do I have to use 2 threads or just the one. I need to use 2 strands with the gold and silver.

    Thanks

    Hello Girls
Thanks tellmeitsfriday. Wanted to make sure, going to do these for dds party bags and then get back to my lady. All was going well yesterday till about 3pm when I had a funny turn outside school, could see or hear so rung husband who works just down the road and he came and got me the kids and car, told him I needed to go home and he took one look at me and drove me straight to a&e, I can't remember anything. Apparently I was talking jibber jabber, was making no sense, couldn't remember kids names, was shaking, deathly white, husband organised for kids and car to be picked up and stayed with me, a couple of paracetamals and tests later including a brain scan, ended up I had had a server migraine and anemia. So cue a day on the sofa!

Sorry for off topic but I wanted to tell someone, and I'm not allowed out, hubby has decided!

Sounds very familiar. When I was 18 we were at the country fair and similar things happened to me including having a small seizure. I was taken to hospital and they eventually diagnosised me with having a migraine. I now take medication every day to stop them. I have no triggers -tho stress can effect it. I also have some amazing extra strong medication I can take if I have an attack - have one every couple of months.
Oh Maria so sorry to hear about your migraine. It's difficult for non migraine sufferers to appreciate just how disabling a migraine can be. It's not just a bad headache! I've learned over the years how to spot the early signs and have identified my triggers (red wine, extreme tiredness and long haul flights being the main ones) so that I can take painkillers immediately. It doesn't always work but does help reduce the severity of the attack. Hope you feel better soon.

Migraines really affect me bad when I do have an attack. I have to go to a really quiet and dark room and not be disturbed for ages. My left hand side feels like it is paralyzed - esp the left side of my face - goes all tingly - my aura letting me know I am going to have an attack so take my meds quick.

On stitchy news - still working out what to do next.

    Keep well every one

Thanks aslib and sweetcareer all day I've been worrying can't do that till next Wednesday. I've always suffered with migraine but never this bad, I've had 2 like this since my youngest was born almost 3 years ago, but this one was worse than the last one.

Hi everyone, sorry I've not been around much over the last couple of weeks but there just hasn't been enough hours in the day to fit everything in. Haven't managed to read all the posts as there are so many but will try to catch up with them all over the weekend before next round of decorating starts at Mums.

Did have a quick flick through the pics and you have some lovely work ladies. Please STOP tempting me with Lizzie Kate - I love them.

My stitchy news - brother loved his 'fire engine birthday card'. Had hoped to post a piccy of it when it was made up but it just didn't happen.

Here is what I have managed to get done though

The colours actually look better in real life than on this hopeless photo :o.

Maria - scary stuff!! Hope all goes well with tests next week.

    Take care everyone,

    Hi Chicky

I read your post and those of others in reply with interest.

I personally haven't been posting as much as I would like recently and some of you will probably find it is only at the weekends that you will hear from me. I have to be honest and say that I try to avoid switching my computer on some evenings because what is intended to be a 30 minute check of facebook/mse/twitter/sew and so new products ends up becoming an all evening affair and before I know it, I have switched my computer on the moment I have walked in from work and I'm switching it off at bedtime. When you think I spend all day sat in front of a computer, this isn't good! particularly as I have been bad with my posture and have suffered with a painful shoulder recently. I am also out at slimming world one night and am meant to go running two nights a week so that doesn't leave much time...

I also haven't managed any cross stitch in weeks. I have been reading my kindle on my commute to work mainly because I have got a bit addicted to my kindle and the bus I catch now is a smaller bus so there isn't the room. :(

The project I am working on at the moment (the winnie the pooh design that featured on the WOXS front cover), well I'm taking a picture after each square is completed and when its finished will post all the pics so no progress pics from me for AGES yet!

I agree with other comments that it would perhaps be sensible to have a separate thread for all matters wanted and we could then direct them accordingly to one of our favourite craft retailers or to auction sites. I know I picked up a load of cross stitch mags in a charity shop most of which I probably duplicated with ones I already have. I often read the wanted section in cross stitcher and think I have that but never reply because I have no idea where to look !

Yes this thread does move fast but I think thats nice. I do frequent the other boards and threads but I rarely post. Some peeps can be so rude and I don't understand why, if they have nothing nice to say, why they bother posting in the first place? As an example, have a look at the mse moral dilemma in this week's mse e-mail. All the replies I read were quite negative.

~ TKMaxx had 4 Jan Constantine Cushions last week... I treated myself to one. at 35 it was a lot cheaper than the usual 75pounds, but still the most i've ever paid for a cusion. it's cream with a big red heart on and 'with love' on top. i really love her new designs for the Jubilee, and want her Map wall hanging, but at several hundred it's not gonna happen!

    * got the new Cross Stitcher yesterday, and for once i think it's brilliant! ok, the Jan Constantine article helps(never rains but it pours, shes everywhere!), but actually there's a lot in it i might stitch, esp now my stitching bug seems to be returning :D

    /QUOTE]

23rdSpiral I called into TKMaxx yesterday am but no Jan Constantine cushions :( I know the design you bought and it's fab so welll done you on a great bargain
However while browsing the home department I did pick up 4 glass storage jars for £1 each :money: - 2 with Kilner type clips and 2 with screw tops like the ones featured in this month's Cross Stitcher. I already use glass jars for a lot of my stitchy/crafty bits and these are a great addition at a brilliant price so thank you. I won't use the patterns from Cross Stitcher but will find something else suitable. I know a lot of people don;t agree but I like the changes that were made to Cross Stitcher but that's probably because I sew as well as cross stitch. I like the way that CS and WOCS have different designs - they were getting very similar before CS made the changes.
Cross Stitch always used to be my favourite mag. Now WOXS is. But I suppose I do agree that Cross Stitcher as it was was a bit too similar with others on the market although I always found it to be the best of the bunch and world of cross stitching a bit tacky (if that is the right word?) world of cross stitching is a lot better now though. I wonder what it is actually like to design a magazine. Wouldn't it be funny if we all took over the mag for an issue!
thanks everyone, feels really silly, have avoided telling one of my brothers as i know he will say its only a head ache, got a phone call from the hospital this morning to say they want me to go back wednesday for more tests and although they told me yesterday i would need to go back i dont mind telling you im scared, they want to do a mir and a scan on my neck among other things to see if i had a stroke. scary stuff but hubby has been good, i always thought that if somthing like this happened he would panic but he was brilliant and has looked after me well today

love lizzie kate although i have never sewn any of hers

    Hugs Maria

Maria- Hope you are feeling better. I had a simlar event to yours, and all they could find was anaemia and mygraine with me too. (I was pregnant at the time so at first they thought it was pre-eclampsia related).
I hope you get some good iron tablets and are feeling better soon.
If it happens again (hopefully it won't!) ask them to check your B12 levels when they check your iron, as sometimes they are linked (mine were anyway).

Haven't read anything else yet, so will go and nosey, just wanted to wish Maria well

    Evening to all.

Picked up Cross Stitcher yesterday, mostly tempted by the free gift card pack but the actual magazine is not really for me at all. I really must stop impulse buying crafty magazines.

Anyway, I am happy to pass on the magazine for postage costs (about £1.25 I think) if anyone would like it. Please PM me and I will gladly sort out the details.

    Regards

  • Hi Maria, hope you are soon better and all goes well at the hospital.

Walk on the Rainbow Trail is coming along nicely, the lettering is done, the path is completed on the right hand side and I have started on her dress.

Thought I had better start working a bit on Live in the Spirit of the Season, so that hopefully they will finish at around the same time if a bit further on in time than it would take to do one (hope that makes sense, intelligence is closing down for the night). Will have to work out how to post photos.

Managed to obtain Cherish Your Dreams from an internet site. One snag is it is on a coloured aida, will have to decide whether to keep that and eventually display it away from the others, or change to white aida so that they can all display together. However it has been firmly stored away, until the two I am on are done (my daughter has been told to confiscate it if comes out earlier).

If it were me and there was any chance that in hte future I may want to hang them together I would change to white aida. White doesn't cost alot so the small expense will be worth it - in my opinion. Look forward to seeing photos.
