Oh dear maria, I'm sorry to hear you were so ill and hope you're feeling better now. Your hubby sounds lovely.
I'm going to start my ABC today I think. Gotta finish my knitting first because if I don't I'll end up with a knitted UFO and I'm so close I can't let that happen.
Elliep I don't want to stop you finishing your knitting but here is my completed ABC made into a cushion. I thought you may be able to see the original colours better than on the photo with the chart which is rather small. I'm sure it will look lovely with your choice of colours and am looking forward to seeing your progress

ooh, that's beautiful! I think mine will look a bit different as I'm using some less muted colours and I'm doing it on white aida that is only just big enough (1" round the edge) so I'm planning to make it into a cushion by adding more fabric round the edge. Like using the x-stitch as a panel in a patchwork cushion I think (I have some leftover curtain fabric for that).
I've not stitched on aida for ages, I normally use evenweave but I have this piece of aida left over from when I used to use it about 6 years ago. I figure that I should probably use it for something and this is the nominated project. I just hope I don't get fed up of the project because of the fabric.0 -

I didn't feel like I was going to rip it, I think it would be quite hard to as it's actually more like card than paper! The only thing you need to do it make sure you wash your hands before stitching as you won't be able to wash the completed work!
I've got two more similar designs left to do, will probably bring them in to work as they are small, but only when I've finished all the birthday cards I need to do!
Maria - hope you are feeling better today
catwoman - I generally use one strand for beads, and use a cross as flowerofscotland says as this makes them all lie the same way.

You are probably quite happy with the white aida but have you ever tried tea dyeing white fabric to get a more aged/heritage effect? I do this quite often with stitchery projects0 -

I think they would just get merged and in experience people wouldn't post what was asked in the correct forum groups.23rdspiral wrote: »- perhaps it's an idea to put a rules reminder in the First post, if there isnt one there already? ( that way at least the members can't be blamed for not stating it clearly).
Lol another fab idea which I shall try and remember to do but given the amount of questions which result in "look at the first post which gives instructions" answers I'm not convinced newbies would take any notice. At least if it's there then when they are welcomed (which they are noone could accuse us of being unfriendly) perhaps they could be asked to just read the first few posts to get an understanding of who we are etc..... anyone can do this not just meTurns out that even though I have about half of the DMC colours I only had one of the ones that I need so I've just picked different colours for all of them. My project is a Lizzie Kate alphabet so I figure that as mu colours all look nice together it won't matter if they aren't the same as the chart says.
I LOVE alphabets etc for the fact you can use the colours you want without having to worry if, for example, the green you have substituted blends perfectly with the other 6 in the grassy area.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Maria that must have been so scarey. So glad hubby was close by to come and get you.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

Thank you. The design is by Lizzie Kate and the chart comes with the threads which makes it quite expensive. The charts on their own do appear on auction sites from time to time. Sorry I can't help but I "loaned" the original chart to a friend of a friend about 2 years ago and it has never been returned. This was the first of a series of ABC chart packs by the same designer - I've done the Christmas one and have the Ageing one to do. There are also designs for cat owners, dog owners, parents and Halloween - great fun to stitch if only I had unlimited time and budget0 -

I love the 'flip it' designs where they have all been stitched on one banner, :rotfl: and as usual, I especially like the Christmas designs!!!

Sorry to go off topic, but how do you do those "clicky1" etc??St. Francis said: “A man who uses his hands is a laborer. One who uses his hands and mind is a craftsman. He who uses his hands, and his mind, and his heart is an artist.”0
