Catwoman - that's a really good start to your dragon - well done.

BobbisMummy - there are instructions in the first post of this forum, if you follow them you can't go wrong. Having said that I still mess up with pictures sometimes.:D

Off topic - sorry - my fabric for my quilt has arrived today so will porbably be spending more time sewing rather than stitching over the coming weeks. So if I'm not posting as much forgive me I am probably still lurking in the background. You can't get rid of me that easily. :rotfl:

  • Hello
Lancs-lady - so sorry, I don't think I can manage the ;) the scanner isn't working :( DH is on the case, but I don't want you waiting for it iykwim? Sorry.

DD is doing ok with the pox, they seem to be getting better at last. But her confidence has really taken a bashing :( she thinks she is ugly and doesn't want to go back to school ever! I have told her she is beautiful, and that the spots will go very soon but she doesn't listen, stubborn like her mother! lol

The GP has said that DS will get it too and when he does it will be bad as he has eczema, great.

Thank you Chicky and everyone else for your kind wishes.

I haven't got much stitching done as I had a hospital appointment today that took 2 hours, and travelling on the motorway was a nightmare.
Hoping to pick up the needle tonight, and possible tomorrow when the dentist has been mean!

Hope everyone is having a stitchyday?!

Mags Cat, I bought a full set of dmc threads from Leisurecraft about 15 years ago and they are still going strong. I just replace any that run out so I have a full set.

Did a fair amount of my David Bowie/Labyrinth kit last week as I had a couple of days off work. I've been busy spring cleaning so stitching was my reward! Unfortunately I bought another David Bowie chart from ebay for £1.00 This one is Aladin Sane so a bit more colourful, found the perfect frame at the car booty yesterday (also £1) so a pretty cheap buy.

Can't post any pictures yet as still classed as a newbie under my new username (used to be bikerchick1066) but will try and post more often so that I can.

Must go to sleep now as working 7-5 again tomorrow. Night night!

Looking forward to seeing pics of this when you are able to post links. There is certainly a variety of topics being cross stitched here.

Thank you nmm! It really did help; my friend is unemployed, skint and depressed so it really cheered her up.

Flowersof Scotland- I'm glad u found something at TKMaxx to make your trip worthwhile. I love those jars, but didn't see any when I went :( I'd also like to do like in cross stitcher but also change the pattern!:D as I sew too, maybe that's why I like it too?

    Hello Girls (and Boys)!

I am going to try and post more often and not lurk. Hope everyone is as well as they can be.

Well as promised the other day there I said I finished little boy blue - yippee! So here is picture. Still to be framed - will have a hunt in pound shop when I get my wages - money is so tight.

    106_0067.jpg

Guess there is no hurry to post it really as his dad (my nephew) works on the cruise ships out Hawaii and is not back to dry land (USA mainland) for months. His mother works on the cruise ship too. He stays with one of my nieces in the States and she is just lost a baby so I don't want to send it there and she opens and it just upsets her. Feel sad for her but she was telling everyone when she was 3 weeks gone - a bit too early.

Here is another picture (just like buses they are coming in twos :)). This one was for a guy at work - he was admiring what I was doing in my lunch break so when I was off at weekend I done this quickly for him and his new baby. Gave it to him on Monday and was "wow, did you really do this".

    106_0063.jpg

Think I will keep that pattern for a quickie stitch if need be in future. And the frame was from the pound shop - white frame with a silver inner.

Now I'm stumped on what to do next. Was thinking of Emily Peacocks hug/kiss - a dear friend sent this on to me - but hubby in his wisdom has been tidying up - going in sane not working - and tidied it away somewhere safe.

Really should try and get in back room and into the boxes of mags that got saved from the fire and see what I am missing and sort them all out. I should have all from issue 1 for cross stitch collection and cross stitcher (until I gave it up last year).

My mum was saying I have some in the shed by their house and some framed ones that were saved but they need new frames. So might go down sometime and get them and wash them.

Oh I knew there was something I was going to ask. My little boy blue was done in my hoop but how do you get hoop marks out of material. I have washed it and it looks clean but I can still see the shape of the hoop.

Oh well, better say Hi to hubby, check up on family on facebook and sort out my ironing - hubby can't iron :(

Keep well where ever you are,

    sweetcarer ;)

Thanks for letting me know your experience with the g&p.
I'm still not convinced either that it will be easy to get it taut, as you'd have to stretch it over the teeth and then it would inevitably slip back slightly.
As you say it's also still going to have to be held and of course you can't swap in and out of different projects easily either.
I'm going to return it to the friend who loaned it to me and save up again for the lap frame, or put it on my birthday wish list.

Forgot to say if you wet the fabric first, attach to the frame and leave to dry overnight it is very taut and stays that way. I'd give it a go as I used it successfully a lot before santa surprised me with the lap frame.

I'm off to Scotland on Saturday for a few days so have packed a little kit in my handbag for the journey.
