Don't know if I am allowed to ask this on here but if not I am sorry.

I have been clearing out my craft room and have come across some cross stitch kits that I have not opened. Due to poorer eyesight I would love to sell these. Can anyone recommend anywhere other than Ebay to sell these?

    Thanks
Some of the cross stitching magazines publish (free of the charge) ads from individuals advertising xs items for sale. I haven't used this service myself.
  • Can highly recommend Quality Needlework website, ordered yesterday morning and my Noah's Ark kit has landed on the doorstep this morning!! Can I ask please Victoriajj did you wash the red and dark blue threads before stitching as suggested?? never heard of that before!!

Some dyes aren't colourfast and red dyes are apparently the most likely to run. Does the kit state what brand of thread is being used? If it isn't DMC, Anchor or Madeira and the recommendation is to wash the threads then I would do it. I have had a couple of unfortunate incidents where overdyed threads (which aren't colourfast and say so on the label) have run when I have steam pressed the finished stitching.

Never heard of Quality Needlework before but always useful to have another recommended online retailer :D

Can't belive I'm going to say this.....

    ......I'm BORED

How do people without hobbies fill their spare time?

Packing is all done, house is clean, kids are at Granny/Grandads' for dinner (to give me peace to pack) and I am sitting here with nothing else to do now. *drums fingers*

On the bright side - my mum was off to B&Q this afternoon which just happens to be next to Hobbycraft so she has offered to buy me some evenweave (yay mum) :TShe has no idea what it is but I texted the details and told her to ask an assistant :rotfl:

Hi all, been away for a couple of days. If anyone is in the london area and not tickled stomached I can recommend going to the Huntarian Museum which is in the Royal College of Surgeons. It's free to enter, open Monday to Saturday (but check their website for times) and has hundreds of fascinating specimens of a medical nature, including the skeleton of the tallest person from the 1800's, a chicken with 4 legs etc.

Anyway whilst away I did no stitching but have managed to finish the African lady that I inherited from my Mum. 6928066384_06700ddcf3_m.jpg

Augustsmummy - hope your little one isn't feeling too ill. My son hasn't had any of the childhood illnesses and he's 13 now. I had chicken pox at 23 and my husband was 24, we were both really quite poorly so I hope he gets it soon or not at all.

I agree Louise, don't how how people can just sit in front of the telly all night, I have to be doing something else too!

Glad you're going to get your evenweave :) I don't think I'd have been able to resist starting something else in your situation :rotfl:

OH is off to work in a minute, his first shift for a week and a half as he's been ill. I'm wishing I could cuddle up in bed, put a film on and stitch all night but I have to go round to mum's and move furniture :( Here's hoping I get some done later!

Evening all. Thank goodness its the weekend :j I am looking forward to a lie in tomorrow !

Tonight its catch up with Homeland and Desperate Housewives :j. I haven't managed any cross stitch for weeks now :( so will try to get busy with that this weekend.

Off topic (sorry) but if you buy from ebay, do you screen shot the item you are buying so that if there are any problems, you can refer back???

ps cross stitcher has arrived on my mat tonight. Not sure whether to be happy or sad! as usually the mag is a bit naff!

Oh, believe me it's been tempting, but it would have meant setting up something on the lap frame, just to put it away again when I got my new fabric lol:rotfl:

do you have enough to do a carboot stall or perhaps you could photograph them an put them on postcards in a shop window (like a newsagents that sells stitchy mags)

Thanks will give it a try:T
