Has anyone stitched any All Our Yesterdays designs? I have started the 'Grandchildren are Special' for my Mum as it is right with 3 boys and 2 girls but I can't seem to find any motivation with it. The colours don't seem to look right on the little bit I have done. Did anyone else find this

I am doing one- as my hubby calls it little boy blue - whats up? I am also a member of an AOY fan page in facebook - Faye (the designer) regularly contributes - so I could post a question in there if you like - I know some of them have done it in past and I think one is currently doing it.

I'm going to do this too. I've bought a kit with some snowdrops in, as they remind me of my grandma. Not brought myself to start it yet, though. 2 years since she died, and it's still very raw. Found myself crying during Torville & Dean's bolero on Dancing On Ice last night. She would've loved watching it.

I also used my tesco club card vouchers to dedicate some trees in a nearby forest (through Wodland Trust). As she's buried in the Forest of Dean, it's too far for me to go, so I like that I can still be with her by going to this forest a few miles away.

What a coincidence that your gran liked snowdrops too. Snowdrops were special to my granparents too - think I have told the story before why. When my grand parents married during the war, my papa couldn't get a button hole. So he went out into the garden and as it was February he picked up some snowdrops. Next year it would of been their 70th anniversary, so I am thinking of doing this from Vermillion stitchery - free cross stitch patterns for all. This will be a wee gift for all their children, for a wee minding.

Hope all are well and enjoying this weather - pity I am inside all day but I would just burn if I was outside.

    Kind wishes to all

That's a nice design. I don't remember hearing that story before, so thanks for sharing. There's a churchyard near my mum that has so many snowdrops in it that it looks like a carpet of flowers. Obviously not this time of year. Grandma used to love driving past it to see them.

I'm like you-if I spent time outside today, I would've burnt! I had a friend come over to practise her beauty skills on me. She is using me as guinea pig & so far I've had lovely massages. Today was waxing. I've never been waxed before, but said she could do my legs-that's as much as I'm allowing! OMG IT HURTS!!! I was swearing at her & told her I didn't like her anymore. :o I don't know how people cope with the pain getting any other areas waxed.

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • It hurt the first couple of times... I've had it done for about 10 years now, and tend to drink a cuppa while she's doing it x

Mrs Moneypenny - sorry to hear about your Gran. I agree with others in time it would be nice to stitch something in her memory.

Ruthhoney - I self wax now and it doesn't hurt anymore. When I first started it really hurt but I think you become immune to it over time.

No stitching - well not cross stitching - for me today. I made a quilted panel for my quilt and also a clutch bag to use at my nephews wedding. Quite a productive day. Will get some cross stitch done tomorrow and will try to get a photo posted.

Row of Love - slow going as the chart is coloured so it seems a bit harder to read. Something I've always wanted to stitch and it was a major fleabay bargain!!

Progress is slower on this than I expected for such a simple design!!

    SDC10549.jpg

This is the AOY design I mentioned yesterday. What I have started to stitch is the middle character - might get better the more i stitch!!

Thanks for letting me know - I couldn't remember who the other person was that ordered one. I'm getting itchy fingers waiting as I don't want to start something new so just plodding along with a UFO which I'm not that enthusiatic about finishing.

I know what you mean! I was waiting for mine, but I had to start something, and as I couldn't find anything else and "Winter Angel" was screaming at me from my bag, I just had to start it. I've got a feeling its going to be put down the minute the one from Hong Kong arrives though! :rotfl:

  • Just a quick question if I may?

I've started on "Winter Angel" (hope the link works, I've not taken any pictures yet) http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=2G8&sa=X&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1280&bih=843&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=lXv3vpZNTy26pM:&imgrefurl=http://www.crossstitchworld.com/cross-stitch-detail.php%3FRecordID%3DLL33&docid=K2DL5qqidXw-WM&imgurl=http://www.crossstitchworld.com/Images/LL33_Angel-Of-Winter.jpg&w=600&h=529&ei=x3pxT5Rix6jQBY_76eUP&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=197&sig=110767334848504356510&page=1&tbnh=148&tbnw=166&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=96&ty=71

My question is, it has lots of beads, well after finishing "Spring Angel" I didn't do the beads, I really lost the will to live after trying a couple!

I was thinking of using metallic thread instead of beads, do you think that would look ok or can anyone recommend anything else please?

I have done this in the past and it looked absolutely fine (and no one else will know you 'should' have used beads anyway)

I used 2 strands of metallic thread, so those stitches were a little more prominent than standard ones..
