*Louise* - sorry to hear about your Dad. Love the ballerina.
Sk00bie1 - I hope that your Dad's okay - I thought my positive thoughts yesterday for him xox
Thank you! Unfortunately the worst still happened. In a strange way though I think it's kind of a load off his mind now that it has, and now we can focus on getting past the problem! Sorry to be a bit cryptic but I don't want to post too much info on the forum.
Haven't had much time for stitching with all the excitement ( ) Have taken a couple of days off over the weekend to help out my mum so fingers crossed I get some stitching in.
I'm glad those who went had a lovely time at the shows, I wanted to go again but coiuldn't really justify it after going to Bluewater at the beginning of Feb.
Off to have a look online for this month's WOXS designs, to see if I should invest in the issue...

Morning. Monday grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
well it isn't even 9am and I'm cross! firstly I have just found out I need to get up stupidly early tomorrow to get to work due to suspension of my usual commuter service at PEAK Times. idiots.
Secondly, on my way to work this morning, I was stopped by a member of the public in the street (a main thoroughfare for buses might I add and with plenty of people about) who indicated he felt unwell and asked me to help him. By helping him I offered to phone the ambulance (which I did). They spoke with the person concerned who said he had suspected food poisoning ?? had been vomiting etc. I will add that this person had no evidence of this around him but did have a sandwich bag with a small amount of very suspicous looking liquid
I'm afraid to say that once the ambulance had been called and I had my phone back, I left the person to await the ambulance by himself and I went on my merry way- firstly because I had to get to work and secondly because I didn't feel comfortable in his presence.
I have to say he didn't appear unwell? and I suspect it was merely a case of Mondayitus which I suspect I shall be developing soon...:rotfl: Anyhow, guess what happened on the bus on the way up to work - the ambulance service called me back so I said i had left him and also said he was freaking me out. Where he was left is a very busy part of the town so if he had taken a turn for the worse, there would have been people to help him. Anyhow, sorry for going off topic here but what would you have done ????
In stitching news, have completed seven squares of the pooh design (yellow stitching only). I'm stitching a square at a time. I have taken a picture at the end of each square so rather than post each square individually, will share when its done :T I suspect I shall be able to get some done tonight while OH watches grand prix although we have a mountain of Homeland and Desperate Housewives to catch up on.0 -
Sorry
:rotfl: I can picture it too like you said, looks great
I did find the giraffe for £15 i think it was but still quite expensive, i will have to get googling
Will keep you posted on any bargains i spot.
WARNING: I also spotted a Dolphin silhouette
Blacksheepwools has African Horizon for £22.98 and the 2 smaller ones for £16.32, however the dolphin one is £8.99the search continues.....
The Dolphin one is a real bargain .....
I also spotted lots of other kits I like  including some tapestry cushions, quite a few Bothy Threads, lots of Lanarte etc etc
I am trying to resist as I will be going to a show next month and BlackSheep will have a stand.
Has anyone ever been to their warehouse/shop near Warrington?0 -
Has anyone ever stitched a cross stitch cushion? My son was looking through Stitcher catalogue that came with WOXS and he would like me to stitch either African Horizon (the one Louise has ordered) or the Tiger cushion cover on p36. I've googled tiger cushion covers and can find a nicer one (it's roaring) for under £20 including postage. The cushion is stitched on 4.5 count canvas and I've never stitched on anything this big before so wondered if anyone else had and if so what they thought of it?
Thanks for any help you can give.
I've stitched cushions (and a small number of pictures) but in half cross stitch or basketweave or bargello on either 10 or 12 count canvas. Stitching on 4.5 count means it would grow quickly although you wouldn't get a lot of detail. The advantage of stitching on canvas using cross stitch is that you won't get the distortion that can happen with half cross stitch. But you still need to use a frame. Don't forget that you have to cover every square of the canvas so if there is a lot of background of the same colour it can get a bit tedious. I have a very old UFO of pink flowers (probably carnations) with a cream background which defeated me. Not even sure where it is
I've put in a couple of links to some needlepoint (tapestry) though for some reasons the floral cushions aren't in my Flickr album0 -

I dunno about the canvas but I have made loads of normal aida pictures into cushions. I made this one last summer for my DD:
I can't use a sewing machine to save my lifebut I just put the aida and material back to back, hand stitch round the edge and turn it inside out before stuffing.

Yes, I've been there. It's big, so plenty to choose from. They also had some ex display stitching for sale, so I bought a stunning wolf picture & another smaller frog design for gifts. Can't remember the exact prices now, but they were very cheap & in frames (no glass) so total bargain. It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, but worth a trip if nearby.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
